Hello friends and fellow earth citizens.

ITT I will post my progress as I try to play poker.

I have little experience (only been playing with some friends occasionally, but I believe I have some understanding of the game).

Just donated £100 on a pokersite and will try to beat the microlimits. Plan to play for 1-2 hours a day.

Talk to you soon

I am unhappy to inform you that I just lost 10 buy-ins in rapid succession at the NL$2 tables. I will do some reading and return to the tables tomorrow.

I will do some reading on these forums and return to the tables tomorrow.

Thanks for reading

Read some forum posts here on 2+2, checked out blackrain's website, and got to works. I had three main goals for todays session:
  • Dont bluff
  • Win money at showdown
  • Play according to position

Played much better and ended up for the day.

Since the last few posts I have moved up to NL25

          Stats so far:
          NL2: 9bb/100 over 89,000 hands
          NL5: 7bb/100 over 38,000 hands
          NL10: 19bb/100 over 71,000 hands
          NL25: 11bb/100 over 29,000 hands

Plan to play around 200k hands at NL25 before I move up as there is still a lot to learn and I'd rather do mistakes at low limits than higher limits. Also I think Im running hottar than Usain Bolt on a sunny day.

Does anyone know how a good way to backup HM2-database?

Feel free to give tips and advice.

Also, I dont think poker is dead; biggest pots at NL25 so far

I just had a sick revelation while playing today - I need to review my stats I turned on "Show hero stats" and I realized I havent really captialized a lot on my own stats. I also have plenty of leaks.

Using only statistics for NL25 (even tho I still make adjustments to my game, I think using stats from NL2-10 will not make my findings correct). And my stats have changed quite a bit since my last lengthy stat-review.

                  Findings:

Flop aggresion and C-bet is ridiculously low.I will improve this by increasing my c-betting range on the following flops:
                  • Dry texture
                  • Decent equity if called
                  • Villain has high fold to c-bet (60%+)
                  • Many good turn cards
                  • When IP
Even tho I thought I had a good c-bet understanding I now realize its way too low. Especially from the SB. As of right now I think Im just trying to outplay people post-flop.

My 4bet range is way too tight
I am flatting way too many 3bets and should start 4-bet bluffing/betting for value (JJ+) more - in particular villains with 3bet stat of 7%+. I need to stop calling 3-bets (in particular OOP).

W$WSF is relatively high I do bluff quite a bit, but I think Im doing it the good way.

                  Generally low aggression factors
Im could probably up my aggression quite a bit by double or even triple barreling more. Additionally, Im currently check-calling 3 streets way too much. I often do this with tpwk, but I am better off betting these hands to avoid calling better hands.

                  Calling draws on the turn
Im currently calling way too many draws on the turn. I should either bet (to increase FE) or fold.

Opening too much with suited-connectors and cold-calling with them I need to reevaluate when I open with these hands (villain stats). Additionally playing these hands with the passive style I currently have is not profitable as I need to incorporate either some bluffs or 3-bets. Currently I do 3-bet small-suited connectors quite a lot, but I need to reevaluate the villains Im doing this against.

I need to incorporate the following:
                  3-bet vs. bad players
                  Call vs good players (IP!)
                  3-bet vs big stacks

Currently loosing money with small pairs from EP/MP
                  Need to fold more.

                  Overbtting the river too much?
I feel as if overbetting the river is good value for me - need to play more and then reevaluate.

Poor river call efficiency in SB
Need to improve this. Not sure what this leak comes from, but I think its becasue its difficult to hand read villains.

Moving down to 2-tables to incorporate this.

33 should just be a normal sized b/f, think overbetting this board as played is a mistake.

Also, playing 18/14 is leaving quite big amount of money on the tables. What's your raise first in by position stats? Flop cbet at 33% is extremely low, especially since you play tight ranges and should hit/cbet more boards.

                        GL, subbed!

I think I played some of my best poker today ever (which should be a natural development ). About 4k hands, and was up 11 BIs at some point (ended at 6).

I ran good ofc., but I also felt a lot more in control and situational aware. My handreading was good and I played accordingly. I avoided a lot of (-EV?)situations by incorporating some of the things in the posts above.

After 50k hands Im running at 9bb/100 (EV bb/100@8). I believe this is sustainable, but no dramas if I drop some.

Starting to get some reads and hand history on some of the regs. I have yet to come across anyone very difficult. I might go for only 150k hands at NL25zoom if winrate is >7.5 over the next 100k hands.

Noticed that my playstyle is an outlier compared to most of the winning population, but Im ok with that.

Another solid day. Since Ive started to play NL25 I have yet to have a loosing day.

Its a really small sample size, but I feel as if I have a good edge in the whole pool. Ive had a regular table going while playing zoom and even tho the opposition is drastically softer (I think?) the difference in dynamics makes me believe its -EV to play both at the same time.

I honestly feel as if NL25 is easier than NL2. People obv. respect my raises a lot more (twoplustwo pun?)

                            Not respecting others raises.

Another ok day. I will try to put in more volume - currently Im only doing about 3000 hands/day - so it will be about 1 month for another 100k hands. Will make a better update then.

As of right now I think I have figured out NL25zoom.

                                Todays session

5-6BI below EV, but that is as expected. Currently I have approx 150BI for NL25 and Im fairly comfortable with whatever Queen Variance throws at me.

Good luck at the tables and have a nice september! :-)

Still sunrunning at zoom games (currently ev10.13bb/100). I will be hunting for the next two weeks and figured I would kick back and relax while watching the epic high roller tournament. I got inspired and fired up some myself.

This **** is totally soft. And I suck short handed (<4). When I come back I might turn into a fulltime lol donkaments grinder - 10x hourly.

Brief sept update. No volume has been put in since last update. I made a desiscion to withdraw $4000 in order to cover some real life expenses (leasure). I have a six-figure job, but Im trying to invest as much as possible at the moment.

Poker EV wise this is probably a bad call, as I will have to move down in stakes for a while. However, poker isnt really my go to for money so that argument is not valid. It will probably kick me back poker progressive wise also, as playing higher stakes is obv. more difficult. However, based on experience last months there are still a lot of big flaws in my game. In 6 months I will be much more comfortable having tried different things at microstakes than doing them at NL200+.

Going forward I wish to continue what Ive been doing. However, I will use more aggresive BRM. I have considered to start playing regular tables, but I believe playing zoom is better to improve my game.

I will play cashgames with 40buy-ins and max 5% of tourney roll per tournament.

                                Current bankroll:$500
                                Cash game: $300 (NL10)
                                Tourney: $200 (max BI $10 - typically 3-5)
                                Zoo

I withdrew $4000 in order to buy a DJI Phantom 4 and some other leasure

                                Quick first week update.

                                Played 48 tournaments, ITM 24%, winnings; $2961

Had my first day at NL100 today - ended the day after loosing with AA vs KJ aipf.

Think this will be a good month.
