This is my first PG&C thread. I've read through quite a few and figured this was a good time to start one of my own. Hopefully it won't be to boring.

About Me:
23 Years old. Live in So Cal. Poker will be my main source of income.
If things don't work out I have a Guard Card and can use that to get some low paying security job.

Started my poker career at Monongo in Cabazon, Ca when I was 19.
I was pretty clueless but after a few winning & losing sessions I became eager to learn.

I read a lot of online articles and parts of strategy books but it was hard for me to apply & retain most of the info. It took me about a year just to become somewhat decent.

Even now I still don't consider myself "Good" but I believe I'm good enough to beat the live low stakes games.

I cleared my old Poker Journal stats and started fresh on 1/22/14 with the plan to play professionally.
I also subscribed to Bart Hansons website, Crush Live Poker about half way through the first month and I feel it has helped my game a lot.

Results so far:

Most of that is 2/3 at the closest casino to me.
It plays like a 2/5 game and the buy in is 100-300. The game will vary from say a 9/10 with a whale or two, deep stacks, and a few action players to a 3/10.

Lately the game (only 1 table, sometimes a MM) hasn't been very good so I'll be putting in more hours at the next closest casino, San Manuel.

Might even make a deposit on Bovada or BlackChip so I can grind on the days I don't play live

Goals:

Poker
Put in 4 live sessions/week
Post HH from each session
Spend a few hours studying
Discover and plug my leaks so I can successfully move up in stakes
Eventually start taking shots @ 5/10

Other
Get in 3 workout sessions per week.

Hopefully this will lead to constant improvement.

Played a short session last night.
There was a main game, a full must move game, and 4 on board.
After 5 mins of waiting the board was clear and I was in the must move game. There was only 1 good player, myself, and a few fish so I was happy with the table.
Within 15 minutes we were down to 5 players and the must move game broke soon after.

+$35 in 30 mins.

Got some food and waited for about 45 mins to get a seat in the main game. Played that for 1.5 hrs and made an additional $80.

Didn't play to many hands.

Picked up Ako once ($335 effective) opened to $15 in mp with no limpers, solid thinking player to my left makes it $50 folds around to me and I decide to 4! To $120. My perceived 4! Range is AA and maybe KK. He tanked for a little while and called. He asked to check it down and I agreed as the flop came out Q109 which I believed to hit his 3 betting range (1010-QQ & possibly AK or KK)

He had QQ.. Nh

Game ended up breaking at 4am after 2 bad players cashed out.

Total - 2 Hrs +$115
Bankroll - $12,590

I'll be posting HH with much better format after my next session. I'll also be trying to find some other things to add to this so it's more interesting to follow.

Last session on 4/28/14 had a ton of action pre flop in the 2/3 100-300 game.

Raised, min 4 bet and folded QQ to a 5 bet pre flop. A guy with AA just flatted my initial $15 raise, my 4 bet, and the other players $360 5 bet. Then he chk/called the KJ6 rainbow flop and chk/called an all in on a blank turn.
The pot ended up being $1,600+ and the guy that 5 bet had KK.

Got in AK vs KK 4 handed for 100bb and lost. V opened to $30 utg, 2 calls I make it $120 from bb, he snap shoves for ~300 total and I call.

AK vs 89o all in pre flop 4 handed for 80bb and lost.

QQ vs an "action player" with AA for 75bb

All post flop action was standard. No interesting hands or big pots.

I was down $1,000 after playing for 5 1/2 HRS (1.5 hrs four handed) so I decided to leave. 1k is usually my stop loss unless the game is really good.
As I pulled out of the parking lot I remembered I needed to grab some cash from my safety deposit box and went back. I stopped to watch the game for a minute and re analyzed my decision to quit. One player was 200bb deep, the other had about 300bb, and the worst player in the game was an old man that had been drinking all night with 500bb+.

Despite maxing out my normal stop loss and being a little tired, I just couldn't walk away from that game when I felt I had a good edge and they had enough money to get me even.
Bought back in for $300 and proceeded to get back $650 of my losses in about 20 minutes.
The guy that had KK vs my AK earlier literally wouldn't play any hand except
JJ+ and AK for the remainder of the short handed session.
He was also to my direct left so it was like I got the button twice and his BB was free $.
I turned in to the most active player and was raising probably 80% of my hands or more. Got a lot of value post flop, mainly from this old man that had $1,500 in from of him, but I feel I didn't get max value in some spots.

That's definitely one of my leaks. Betting smaller so I don't "scare them off their hand"
Although, most of the time he had 2nd or 3rd pair & I got called on multiple streets so who knows.

Played for 3 1/2 hours total, 3 and 4 handed until 2 of the players quit around 6am and the game broke.

-$1,000 5.5 hours
+$745 3.5 hours
Total (-$255 9 hours)

Bankroll - $13,145 (after taking out $600)

I was going to let this die since I figured it would be a low interest thread but I don't like giving up on things...

Since my last post I took some shots @ 5/10 when my BR got up to 16k.

Won 8 small sessions in a row for a total of +$4,500 and a BR of 18k and then had a (-2.5k) day that set my BR back to 15.5k.

I made a few mistakes throughout those sessions but I believe by playing standard tag & value betting thinly I could beat the game consistently.

Went back to grinding my local 2/3 $100-$300 game and after 11 sessions my bankroll is up to an all time high of $20,000.

I'm setting my "Bankroll Goals" @ 10k increments. I hope to reach them every 2/3 months if I continue to grind this game.

I wish I was closer to the LA casinos so I could play the $5 blind games that have bigger buy ins but the 70 mile one way drive is a bit discouraging.

Here's a HH from last night. Will post more later on but this is long enough as is.

Game is 7 handed

V1 - MP2 - ($180) late 30's Asian

Overall terrible/drunk fish. Pre flop calling range is usually any 2 suited cards & any broadway cards (A5o etc)

V2 - CO - ($300) mid 30s middle eastern

Rec fish. Will raise any PP, 2 broadway cards, occasionally random suited cards. Will stack off light post flop.

Hero - MP1 - ($250) mid 20's (not the hoodie/headphone type)

Been fairly active in raising (mostly to ISO V1 and 1 other player). Only showed down a few middle strength hands. K10o etc. not a lot of history with either V.

Hero($250) opens QQ to $15 from MP1

V1($180) calls from MP2.

Folds to

V2($300) who makes it $30 from CO.

Back to me & I decide just to call so I don't give away the strength of my hand and keep both V's in the hand.
Also the pot will be $90 and I don't think it will be hard to get stacks in on the flop/turn.

Flop($90) 363

Hero checks, V1 bets $60, V2 snap calls.
At this point I'm sure V2 has a PP. If he has KK or AA then GG. Not to concerned with V2, even if he has a 3 I prob get a small side pot.

I ship $160 more, V1 thinks/folds V2 thinks for a few secs and calls with 1010

Turn 5 River 10

NH sir.. I go to muck and he requests to see my hand. I see a lot of people get mad in this spot & try to shove the cards in the muck or talk **** but I just turned it over calmly.

Gotta keep the fish happy!

6/25/14

1/2 NL / 25 mins / +$90

2/3 NL / 3 Hours / +$205

6/27/14

2/3 NL / 10 Hours / +$605

Here's a quick hand:

Raised to $30 over a few limpers that love to L/C. Rec player to my immediate left makes it $75 (hasn't 3 bet the entire session)
folds back to me & I call (after asking if he has AA or KK). Also haven't seen him bluff or Cbet with air at all.

Flop J52 RB. Chk/call $100.
Turn 10x chk/call $150
River 7. Chk/chk.

Figured his range was most likely QQ/JJ+ After betting flop & turn so he's gonna be betting everything on the river.

He shows AA.

Hmmm your session win pct seems a bit low-53/47. Any idea why? Do you play short sessions, do you tilt a bit when you are stuck? Just first thing that jumped out at me
