Hi,

I use to play online poker, mostly HUSNG (some online PLO/NLH cash, live cash/local MTTs) but decided to focus on studies and career. Currently I am in an ok position with employment. In my few years of hiatus I reconnected to gaming to try fill the void of poker. I did not feel like it was ever filled up.

I will be getting married December 2020, so I thought to get back into the game I love and hopefully make some cash to put towards the wedding.

As I have budgeted all of my savings for the next year to go to the wedding, I have found a guy who will coach and stake me. I have been instructed to short stack .10/.25 until I can prove that I am ok at playing deeper. I think this is fair as i last played in 2014/15 I believe.

The purpose of this thread is that I enjoy to have a place to journal what is happening.

Short term Goals:
[ ] 1-2 table first 5k hands to de-rust
[ ] +EV after 5k hands
[ ] 15hrs per week

Long term goals:
[ ] Get to higher stakes 1/2, 2/4 (even 5/10)
[ ] get back to 4+ Tables
[ ] Find a group of people playing PLO cash to talk hands/life with
[ ] Drop a day at work to play poker instead

Thank you for coming past!

Day 1:

Only played 114 hands, mostly 1 tabled.

I am finding it hard to focus on my opponents as much as I would like to.

Playing short stacked feels weird, I am out of my comfort zone but it is good as it will help to improve my game.

I ran pretty good, only lost 1 pot when going all in, felt invincible.

Starting balance was: $150
After session balance was: $193.34 +43.34

Day 2:

Played 127 hands, might play another session after tonight but not sure.

Had some tables that were pretty loose and lost money not making profitable calls but after I adjusted I called and ran good. Feel a bit more comfortable but still not focusing as much on the game as I would like to.

Starting balance was: $193.34
After session balance was: $211.06 +17.12

Day 3

Played 125 hands, made a couple questionable calls that affected my EV but after that I won 3 pots all in and ended with a profit. Done a couple bluffs that I haven't done much of in my games and they also worked.

Feel I was able to play more hands in a row without getting tired even though I had worked a full day. Hoping to be able to play 2+hours with no break more than 10mins per hour in a couple weeks (3+hours on weekends).

Starting balance was: $211.06
After session balance was: $226.56 +$15.5

Day 4

Barely played any hands due to busy day at work, then went for jog and saw family with a drink. So did not want to play too much.

Had a situation where I felt unsure on what to do, pretty sure I made the wrong play.

Played almost 300 hands, was my personal best so far. Starting to feel more comfortable. Played more gamblish going all in preflop, not running the best but got some nice +EV.

Might not post everyday for the next few days as I will have my fiances friends over the weekend.

Did not play yesterday due to having people around and going out. went to an adventure room and did not get out in time!

221 hands played today so far, may have another session later.

Really starting to get into the game, want to re-evaluate my preflop strategy as I have many uncertainties and feel that it is the foundation of poker. Will try to run out this run good as long as possible!

Looking for a couple people to discuss hhs who have ambitions on playing higher stakes PLO. Already have 1 person, looking to create a small group of players (4-6).

I am bracing myself as I have been running well and winning most hands when ahead and I know this is not going to last forever.

I have been suffering from winners tilt, I find it harder to put in more hands after winning.

I did try 4 tabling and I was not able to be as focused as I wanted, glad to see that I can 3 table now.

IRL talk:
Yesterday I attended a year 12 graduation ceremony to present an award. It made me think about the last 10 years as I graduated from my final year 10 years ago.

I was thinking about how different things were and how there was a different kind of ambition in my life back then and not knowing where my future was heading. I feel as I have climbed the ladder at work and even if I go higher it will not bring me much satisfaction, but it will help me to do things I want to do such as travel.

Maybe I am not as passionate as I once was. But I do feel playing poker and moving up is something that will get me excited about life and studying the game at a deeper level.

I was thinking that I will have kids some day and that it will be about them and nurturing their journey, whilst mine will be in the background.

First time in the red. Easily $15 error was bad plays, had some run bad too. Not bad to have my first losing session since beginning. I was pretty tired and this did affect my play.

I am at 1500/5000 hands at the moment, I will be very busy the next couple weeks with guests but hoping to finish in 3 weeks.

Lack of updated due to being extremely busy with guests. Now I have more time. I did not play much but went on a downswing followed by upswing.

Posting this quickly before a session so may post an update in a few hours.

Still exhausted and catching up on my rest from being so busy past 3 weeks.

Did not play 400 hands today, went for a jog after work and saw a house which took up more time and energy than expected.

Ran good at the tables and mostly 2 tabled and did not tilt by overplaying hands because I felt like I had an edge, played more simple and it paid off for this session.

exact hand count is 3110

Over 3.5k hands now.

Next week I want to spend more time on PPT. Going to try make an excel sheet to analyse hands with ppt also

Now up 365.91

I feel like I now understand why PLO has the image of it being a degen gambling game. Feel like I am playing a game like blackjack. I do like it though.

EV went down to 0 and now back up to 60

Today I only 1-2 tabled and yes I did run insanely good and even sucked out but it did make me feel much more at ease rather than 3-4 tabling. I was also playing close to my best ever which is not sustainable.

Still looking for fellow PLO grinders to discuss hands with, if that is you pm me.

I will probs play more later but wanted to post now as I am finding it harder and harder to lately.

Down to 341

Have completed 4910 hands, so close to 5k!!

Played a big gambler on a table and I ended up losing a bit to him. He was destroying most of the table as he was running amazing. I didn't have the ability to stay at the table as I felt a bit of frustration and entitlement, so I went to another table.
