boom-shizzle!!! huge news regarding FTP!!! so fkn pumped - i just shipped a +50bi day without even playing a hand of poker

as to poker, july was (like every month this year essentially) a pretty big flop. i don't think i even ran all that terribly in all-in spots tbh - just ran bad in non-ev spots and played pretty averagely. at least winning>losing i guess. not too happy with this month's play, but gonna crank up my concentration for the rest of the year. i have to at least break-even right???

this year has made me realise how hard it is to make a living from poker. all of a sudden as the year started i had no income and only had to rely on poker. well, what a disaster that has been. made me thankful for having savings and appreciate how tough this game can be to pros.

went and played some 1/2 live for the first time in a while last night at the star. was very profitable - got up exactly +500. people are so so bad.

made a good calldown for a big pot with ATdd on AK6ccdJd3x vs. some gambool asian dude who barreled 3 streets with J9cc. won alot of middle sized pots, until i won a big pot off some guy with A8>88 on A83A7ccc. really annoyed that i didn't win more tho - dude opr in MP for $10, gets 2 callers, i call BB. i c/c $35 otf, turn comes off and he checks behind (so bad). river completes the FD from the flop, so i tank a bit and decide to overbet it to $130. he snaps and i ship a nice pot.

in hindsight i think i should c/r river big. he's probably gonna always b/c a flush there (i thought that was way more likely than a boat) and to a lolliver player my hand can look super weak prompting him to bet wide. i could also consider donking turn and then bombing river, but leading that turn just gets too many folds from all his non-nut hands and pretty much flips me face-up as at least Ax. i'm kind of unsure what the best line to take is to try and stack him. he was probably just under $400 deep and i covered so stacking him is probably unlikely, but winning >$200 off him is a definite posibility.

pretty happy with how it all went - kinda funny that after a couple of hrs work at the casino i've made more money live than online this year. maybe i should play more often...

august so far - been a little rough but can't complain bitterly. had to fold alot of big hands and alot of bluffs have been called down, but hoping to continue winning.

lol the cost of med school for 5years is nearly 50k, so i don't expect to be paying that off haha. i'm more or less wanting to use poker to get me by on daily expenses (petrol, going out, clothes etc.) and for travel at the end of the year.

GL Nick, hands look good although my preference would have been to go for 3 small streets with flopped straight flush rather than getting it in over 2.

cant really bet less than his 25$ stack on the turn given that the pot is twice that site. wp

eh, ideally i would like to, but his range looks like a ton of AXx-type hands when he takes this sorta c/r, c line. and i think he'll just call it off ott with the *nut* draw and 2 overs, rather than me hoping he hits ott. even if he plays some overpairs like this, chances are he won't fold them either especially if they have a club. cheers tho.

edit - just stoved 2nd hand and it's a really clear fold. i need 27%, and i can only make up that equity if he jams all KK+/AKs/AsKx/AxKs hands (i have 31% vs. that range). KK+/AKs/AsKx alone gives me 24% (and it's fair to assume he's gonna jam all those hands), but i don't think most random 50nl'ers are shipping AxKs here. and he may not even ship AK with the A, which makes things way worse .

Second QQ I'd just fold pre, that's a pretty big squeeze against UTG open...
