So i have been playing online NLHE for over 7 years now. mainly for recreation, live i take seriously and have made more of a profit. But in the last few months ive been reading books, blogs, challenges, forums, and so much more.

The reason for this challenge is to see if i can be successful and something i love doing. The reason i havent been successful in the past is because my absolutely horrible self discipline, horrible BRM, and tilting away money.

4 days ago i decided to do this challenge, and commit to it. I have made an account on BOL and started to do freerolls. after 3 days, and probably 6-8 freeroll tourneys, i finally made it ITM last night. 11th place and a whopping $2. Thought about it a lot afterward and what i was going to do with it.

RULES

Cannot buy in at this moment with over $1 due to such a small BR.
After winning 25bb's i must leave the table and buy in another with 50bb's.
cannot play for more the 1.5 hours to keep full focus at the table.
only play 1 table at a time. (partially bc of no HUD)

after winning my $2, i went to bed thinking up these rules and how i was going to use my $2.

My progress today was positive. bought into a table with 50bb's and a few hands into it i cought KK PF 1 off the BTN. 4 or 5 limpers i decided to push. had 1 caller and ended up getting drawn out to a q9 flush. Go fugure. bought back in with my last $1. hit a couple hands that ended on the turn. next thing i know im back up to 1.73. decided to call it considering the 1.5 hour was almost up. jumped back on a couple hours later to grind my way back up to 2.37 in an hour. whew. finally a little leeway. jumped off the table and decided to register here and post up my challenge, progress, and hands if i run into a hard decision.

any tips would be nice. oh yea and also if there's any way that i can register for RB now. i thought i would be able to register for RB after i signed up but i havent seen anything for it.

played for a short time yesterday, I played well but came out under. Another hand of pocket K's. only had $1 stack he had me covered. i was in EP

river was a heart and yep.. he hit his flush. 67h.

crazy how people will call large bets PF with low cards, then chase the flush with another pot sized bet on the flop with no straigh draw or pair other than on the board.

back down to 1.66.

tempted to deposit but im not going to.

played last night. so hard to play with a BR so small. especially in $2NL. you get called down so much, sucked out, call large raises OOP with trash and drawn out. I'm down to .41 and at a loss what to do with it.

ive also been playing FR because it takes longer for the blinds to come around. every cent counts right now. im thinking about playng 6max so that there isn't 4 people calling my 7bb or more raises behind a bunch of limpers.

I guess either shortstack NL2 or try luckboxin something up in the 0.02$ and 0.10$ games..

thinking shortstack at 6 max to reduce the field. at this point it's pretty much a push/fold game on the flop/turn.

well a little about myself.

I'm 25, married. have 2 of my own children and 2 step children. it's a full house. I work in a high end wine shop, not what i want to be doing for the rest of my life but it gets us by right now. I'm laid off the 1st of the year and just picked up another job bartending at a sports bar.

I absolutely love to play NLHE and would like to make a living from it sometime. I want to work for myself and make my own hours. I've done a lot of studying and have learned a lot in the last couple months. I don't want to deposit because i like the challenge, i think ill respect the money that's earned a little more, and ill put more thought into where and what its going into. My wife thinks im crazy for playing so many hours a week and earning very little or next to nothing. but that's part of the challenge.

well I think I won my fantasy football league for $600. so what I think im going to do is deposit $100 and go from there. is there a HUD that can be used on BOL? or a way to sign up for RB?

So switched to ACR now. Signed up for RB and freerolling. The on demand freerolls are cool and there's a lot more action on ACR. I like the layout more, and everything just feels a lot better than BOL. we'll see. Still thinking about depositing but really want to do this challenge. Won $602 in my fantasy league. excited about that.

blah.. now only if these tourneys were BI tourneys... 27th 39th and 41st with ~600 entrants..

so I ended up landing ITM in a freeroll.. that was just after I deposited $25. I think I need to adjust a little. on BOL I don't get called down as much as I do on ACR. I'm getting called down A LOT on ACR. so I need to tighten up some.

so not off to a great start of the year.



didn't really run into any tough spots/decisions yet. trying to copy hands but HEM isn't letting me because im on the trial version. Next paycheck im going to buy PT4. I like that one a lot more.

most of the big dips in the show downs were when my AA's were cracked to trip 10's on the flop. ended up AI on the flop. then hit a set of 6's on the turn against 2 pair 7 and 8. then the river he hit a 7 for the boat. still waiting on my ACR rakeback account to be accepted. it's been 4 days I think? how long does it usually take?
