What you don't get is that racism isn't just a form of insulting that specific person, but hate against a lot of people. We all know that "stupid" is a pejorative word, but when someone say "black" meaning as a bad thing, then they aren't cursing that specific person anymore, but all black people.

There's a reason why in most constitutions there is a big difference between personal harassment and racism, in some countries you could go to jail for the latter without the right of bail.

Tbh I understand why you get mad at how society is taking racism that seriously, I think people are overreacting on that, but there are some places where racism is still a big deal (specially in lower educated social groups), so it's better for everyone to be obsessed about that for the sake of those who could really suffer because of racism.

I only watched the stream for about five minutes but in that time he kept bringing up how awesome at poker he is, mentioned having a hot wife a bunch of times, and bragged about his engineering degree. Just an insecure POS and then randomly goes off on some EU(?) dude in chat when his ego is questioned.

Pretty messed up comments, but this is the reason I have absolutely zero interests in ever streaming or becoming any sort of public figure. If there was a video evidence directory of every stupid thing I’d ever said, then I’d for sure be a social pariah for the rest of my life - and I imagine so would most people.

I agree with you in general but I don't think this is a case of someone saying something mildly questionable and people getting overly outraged about it. The comment he was responding to was barely even an insult. And he just went so far past the line. I've only watched a bit of his content in the past but he always seemed to be saying some things that were on the edge and I think the way he acted was a big part of why he had so many haters. These were very messed up comments and the clip was actually even a bit worse than the text that had been quoted earlier.

I don’t really want to debate this, as the whole subject is a fkn minefield. But there are definitely types of racism that have been socially appropriated as ‘banter’ (eg. Irish travellers, Italian Americans, Asians, Jews), and other types of racism that people have zero tolerance for. There are historical reasons for this being the way it is, but it doesn’t really make a lot of sense to me.

Maybe on your arbitrary logarithmic scale of bad things to unspeakably bad things, you feel like you’’ve never said anything as bad as OPs comment. But I’d imagine I could fine some people who would feel differently. Have you ever made fun of the disabled, for example? Used any of the words synonymous with disability as an insult? I bet loads of people find that more offensive than using the word black as a pejorative.

I didn't see the clip so I guess it's hard to know the exact context. That said, I get with the modern times and everyone seeing racism under their bed every night this comment coming off as bad as it did.

I know broken quite well though and can confirm he is absolutely not racist. People who just pop into this thread using this situation as a way to dunk on someone they dislike while virtue signaling at the same time should probably re-evaluate their life. I have personally never understood how people can react to viciously to isolated reactionary incidents like this. The dude has been on video providing near free value and entertainment for countless hours while earning majority respect and suddenly he deserves to be socially ostracized as a result of one moment of poor judgement? I don't think its fair for anyone to receive this kind of hate for single moments of poor judgement in speech generally but especially when they have been in public eye for this long with a clean record.
