lol you forgot about income tax mate

not sure on rates in usa but our tax rates would be 30-48c/$1 for higher incomes plus when you earn more your living expenses will increase. With mortgages, lifestyle etc etc

set for life if he moves to a third world country maybe

Obviously goals change, but at the moment idea would be to win $160k in 2019 and basically invest $100k of that and *probably* pursue a career in 2020. My cost of living is very low right now and both my wife and I are frugal by default.

Having >100k invested at 26 pretty much means that even if I invest very poorly until I'm 60 I should still be able to retire.

You seem quite intelligent and have a good head on your shoulders so I don't think anything will stop you from pursuing poker greatness. Just throwing in my two cents.

I grew up with a bunch of overachievers and went to pretty good schools. In my late 20's I was making 6 figures/year from poker comfortably and thinking I was so cool compared to them. Now in my 30's, after a few lean years of being a pro, I've joined LinkedIn and see that a lot of them have developed very impressive careers. Many VPs, Directors, lawyers, etc.

In my short experience working in corporate environments and seeing a lot of promotions and moves to other companies, it does seem like the cream will eventually rise to the top in some form. However, I've also made the decision to play poker full time again by making an internal ev/satisfaction calculation.

Unless you rise to a big and influential position in a company, nothing will beat the joy of crushing poker to me and you seem more than capable. There are other considerations though and I wish I had looked at the growth potential of starting a career in my 20's more carefully like Avaritia suggested.

I think you're a bit of a different case though since you're already moving your way through the upper limits. Best of luck in the future!
Thanks for the post and good luck to you as well.

This is what is actually baller about your thread, doing really well and not becoming a douche who wastes money on stupid ****. If you're crushing it and still looking to cut the fat in your expenses you're on a road to a nice chilled comfy life.

I hope your wife doesn't read this thread and see you classifying your honeymoon as "stupid ****".

Lol, she reads this thread, but I'm not calling it stupid ****. I don't have much as a desire to travel as she does, but should be a good time.

At least you saved tons of money on the actual wedding and what not, also think a honeymoon/vacation will be much more enjoyable once you actually are at the hotel and what not... I am not a big fan of travel myself but I always end up having much better time than anticipated.

As was mentioned slightly above, don't forget income tax. Doesn't look like much spread between $160k and $100k after paying taxes on the $160k.

If you like beaches, may I suggest Aruba. I went there on my honeymoon in 2010 and have been back several times. For the honeymoon we went in June; since then have been going in November. It is hot in June. Still mid to high 80's in November, but always has a refreshing breeze. It is out of the hurricane belt. Whatever resort you stay at, you can leave it safely. There are a lot of great restaurants.

If you do not like beaches, probably do not go there.

Some sick results recently! Would be interested hearing your thoughts about investing assuming you don't mind sharing? Also any thoughts on the type of career you want to pursue or may want to pursue?

Just interested

Got owned today. Was hovering around breakeven and then lost about 5 flips (~50 50's) within about 15 minute span to end my day bit less than -$3k. Decided to quit after that
