Basically yes I am new to the thread.

I started typing out a reply but realised I'm no one and you should probably think as a standard to ignore me, I'm also worried I am needlessly ignoring your very good thread. If you would like me to PM you why I think you are still wrong let me know.

Also I very much like reading your thread.

Post it here if you want. You're not the only one.

- I'm 25 and have a bachelor's in materials engineering/ minor in biomedical engineering
- I worked in a position making ~60k/yr for 2 yrs
- I live with my now fiance (she works full time and can cover all our expenses)
- I hated my job so much I decided to quit abruptly and jus try poker/maybe look for a job
- First month as a "poker pro" made >$20k -- not really concerned with looking for a job now
- I have a lot of money saved
- Don't really plan on looking for a job atm ... will reevaluate at end of year

I said a long time ago in this thread I would never consider playing poker full time unless I had a 10k month. First 10k month was over 2 years ago now and my first month I legit got poker volume I made over $20k. I still don't want to play poker as a living forever, but for the short term (6month - 24month) it seems OK with the current info I have.
I'm sure it has crossed your mind but have you considered using your poker income to fund a future venture that would keep you out of the rat race for good? Maybe some other form of investing?

I myself have zero interest in playing poker professionally but if I get to the point where I'm earning 5 figures consistently per month I would use it for exactly that purpose.

Most of my extra funds are in investments yeah

I have ~50k in investments

I also have 20k in debt though, but my interest on that is <5% now
08-06-2018 , 09:26 AM
Should just pay off that 20k, That is just a few BrokenStars run good sessions away
Keep up the good work though, the stream has been awesome to watch lately and never disappoints.

The debt is just student loans. I've paid all the highest interest ones and make monthly payments on it now.

At <5% def higher ev to do what broken is doing, although understandable that some people choose to pass up a little ev because they feel more comfortable with no debt.

Yeah, I need to play more. I have enjoyed my time off though for sure.

In about a week my fiance will be gone for a week and I'm going to shoot for about 8 hrs/day for a week.

Very nice graph, however I could easily see 100k year if you put in the hours. Going to hopefully see you streaming when the fiance is gone next week.

Yeah, need to get more volume. I think my goal will be 50k min/month

Your 60K+ hand break-even stretch makes me feel better about my low stakes Break-ever stretch. Seriously tho, Sick results OP!

They shouldn't because you should care about winning as much as possible. Which should always result in you studying your ass off.

Any idea what your hourly has been for the year?

I think he made that comment so he could rationalise his own situation that even great players with very good winrates go through breakeven/downswing periods. I.e. gives him confidence so that he continues putting in volume.

It would be very naive to think that you never go on a downswing/break even stretch even if you are a massive crusher of the game. That is just the nature of the game that many people cannot accept.

But at the same time, you are right, if these downswings and breakeven periods extend for too long, then it is probably time to review your overall strategy and make improvements.
