Year in Review/ Goals for 2019

Online: 100k hands at 50nl

I haven't been playing much online so I want an achievable goal to work toward. I need to focus on playing less tables, shorter sessions, and spending more time studying post session. The point isn't to maximize immediate cheeseburger ev, it's to improve at poker. Zombie button clicking on 12 tables like I've been doing doesn't accomplish this. If I do all of these things right and still don't win money by the end then I'm probably blind to some major leaks. Should be interesting to see results.

Live: Same ol grind. 400 hours
-Online hands: 258k

-Live hours: 296

My goals changed over the course of the year. I started playing on ignition in February at 50NL and eventually moved up to 200 by the end of April. I wanted to get to a place where I wasn’t just using online as a tool to improve at poker but actually a means to make money. I decided to make fewer trips to the casino and focus more on online volume/study.

Online Results

2019 Goals

Online
- Target ~33k hands/month, 400k total
- Look to mix in higher stakes when I feel confident

Live
-Play about 200 hours or just whenever I feel like it

Consistent Study
- Review each session as a warmup for the next
- Pick a specific area to focus on each weekend as opposed to reviewing random spots
- Look to get a study/accountability partner or group going of players at a similar level

Track Mental Game Errors
- Every hand I consider a punt will be tracked on this sheet

Going forward I plan on giving a results update each month which should make this thread more interesting. Threads with consistent result posts and not just random heater graphs are my favorite to follow.

Overall I’m happy with the progress I made this year but still have a long way to go. Excited to put in the work and see results in 2019

Happy New Year!!

Sick results, thanks for sharing.

Im in a similar position (but not as far ahead) where I was using online for education/recreation, but have results such that i need to consider putting in the majority of my volume online.

There are still a few key reasons I prefer playing live. Notably that I dont have to think, which I enjoy.

Thanks. There are reasons I like both and think variety is a good thing. I do prefer online for the challenge, getting a sample faster, convenience, etc. Live I view as less about poker and more about battling yourself/boredom and tolerating your surroundings. Don't do dumb ****, catch punts. The thing is I think my % of tilt hands is much greater online.

I tilt way, WAY more online.

I get the "challenge aspect", but its not for me specifically.

I decided a long time ago poker was a way for me to earn $30-$75 hr on the side, and nothing more.

I also thoroughly enjoy catching punts. I'm really good at it.

Jk. Good question it was a combo of a few things but I'd say generally was playing too passive oop then turned into a monkey. Became a river station against fish. Did a lot of tinkering over the course of the year. Obvious one is started running hot.

Figured out how to get back the aiev line

Punts tracked:12

Effort was there, volume was there, flip game was there, quality of play not so much. Not coincidentally most of bad play occured while playing tired or too long. Quality over quantity will be the focus next month. On the positive side I started a new habit of waking up early everyday to put in a study session before work. I think it's really beneficial to study first thing in the morning when your mind is sharpest and there are no distractions. Going to try to be consistent with this throughout the year.
