21yr old 1st year uni student from Melbourne, Australia. Just moved back to Melbourne after living in Shanghai, China for a number of years as an expat finishing high school/taking an extended gap year working & living.

I withdrew my $300~ roll from Full Tilt out of concern for the longevity of play there (lack of response to 'Black Friday' compared to PS etc) & deposited $300 on Stars today with the intention of playing 6-8 tables of 6max NLHE and grinding up. I'm completely new to Stars, don't know the nuances yet of the bonus system but I'm keen to clear my first deposit bonus on stars and hopefully i'll learn more about the bonus system on the way. I will include the release of VPP/deposit bonuses in my BR figures

Live poker wise I play the absurdly structed $1/$2 game at Crown Casino which is capped at $80 buy-in. The play is terrible and once you get deep its essentially a printing press as others who frequent Crown could tell you. Only moved back home recently so I'm looking to grind this for a few weeks and then 'take shots' at the $2/$3 game capped at $200 buy-in which is almost as bad from what I hear.

Playing for a living essentially on the side of being at uni, my expenses aren't too high & I want to keep my live poker/life roll separate from my online roll because I want to acquire the skills to move up and beat the games first.

Just played a small 120~ hand session for the first time on Stars, played 2 tables for around 40 minutes or so just to get a feel for the interface/layout etc.

Results for the session as follows:

Hands Played: 121
Profit/Loss: $12.96
Current BR: $312.96

Below is my Live Poker results/db:

Going to Crown tomorrow night to hopefully get in a similar session in terms of length and obviously $

If anyone has any questions about anything feel free. TY.

Stuck about $50 early on in my session, have lost 2 hands of interest so far...

Hand 1:

Effective stacks around 80 (lol 40bb buyincapaments)

Hero in BB with 5c7c

EP raise to 6, couple of calls, SB (who has around 20 chips) calls and I call too.

Flop : 3s 7d 7s

Shortstack checks, I check hoping to c/r, EP raiser checks and it gets checked around, I'm pretty annoyed by this.

Turn : 10s

Terrible card for me, shortstack SB shoves his 14, I just call and one other player calls

River : 6s

Crappy card once again and now I'm checking to fold however villain checks and shows Ks4d (yuck). Shortstack had QTdd.

Didn't lose much in this hand but was annoying

Hand 2: Similar effective stacks

I raise to 6 UTG with AJo, stationey MP calls and BB who is youngish guy says "I'll call for the odds"

Flop: Q-5-7 rainbow

BB checks, I bet 12 into 20 or so, MP folds, BB calls.

Turn: A

BB checks, I bet 22 into 44 and BB thinks for a while before calling

River: 8

BB checks and I have around 35 or so behind but I have a bad feeling still from what he said PF and think he could have a weird 2pair or 6-4. I check back and he says "damn, I have a straight". He rolls 64o and I smile and muck, pretty grossed out at his call on the turn with me having so little behind.

Have been topping off my stack every time I drop under 80 and am down about 100 or so, this game is a crapshoot when shallow, gotta get deep to have a big edge against short stack beginners.

Just won a big pot allin on the flop with K4hh vs AA on 578hh.

Deepish now so hopefully can start to boss
