Hi all.

Ive decided to give myself a challenge and play 100k hands at Zoom $25nl FR in 31 days with a earn rate of 4bb/100 hands starting today.

Im not going to put myself under too much pressure about the earn rate, i will just be happy to put the volume in and see how i deal with it.

Put it this way ... ive not played 100k hands this YEAR and ive never been one to put in the hours with poker.

Im pretty busy with my work schedule and bringing up my lad so it will be a test of focus and motivation.

This year my FR figures are as follows - all on Stars, moved to $25nl on Sept 28.

$10 FR normal tables - 70k hands at 7.14/100

$25nl FR normal tables - 14k hands at 6.42/100

$25nl FR Zoom tables - 3.3k hands at 14.3/100

Hopefully i will find some new found discipline and keep the focus for the next month .

Happy grinding guys.

GL Hap. I know you want a focus point to improve your volume, just don't push too hard that it affects your quality or enjoyment.

Thanks guys , appreciate it.

Going to play 1 hour sessions as often as i can, might up that to 90 minutes in the week day evenings and just play two.

Just played the first hour and played way too nitty for my liking, hopefully open up more as i get more hands on the players.

Day One :

Daily Total

Hands / Target - 3728 / 3226 ( + 502 )

bb/100 / Target - 8.87 / 4.00

A good solid start imo ..being used to stacking the regular tables, it was quite nice to just play 4 tiled tables and have time to make what i thought was the correct decision in tough spots and just move on.

Was timed out a couple of times in key situations .. bit surprised by that as i use TN1 and thought the time bank would kick in ... maybe you just have less time in Zoom ?

Over played a couple of big hands and a couple of bad hands .. but overall i kept pretty focused throughout.

Amazingly .. did not stack anyone all day ... 85bb was the best pot and 57bb was the next.

As far as i can see, i did not win a pot over 10bb with a flush or straight so it shows that when you just pick away at pots you can accumulate some profit.

Back tomorrow.

Thanks Rosh & Pita

The old proverbial spanner has appeared in the works today ... my snooker league season starts tonight and we are playing away.

Thats basically 7pm until around 9.30 at the earliest.

Ive not even picked up my cue since last season ended !

Going to finish up work a little earlier and make food before 5 and hopefully try and put in a session before i go out, even then im going to have to put in a shift after snooker.

Every problem has a solution.

Hey man, good luck with the goal. One thing I wanted to mention is that setting monetary goals is never a good idea even if you are crushing the games. The goal to play at 4bb/100 is a kind of pointless figure because kudos if you do better than that but you can't really do much if you do worse than that.

Concerning this, as you play more you'll probably loosen up a bit as you will become a bit more comfortable and well versed with the game type. If you're thinking about your game at all you should also do the same unless you're stuck in nit mode for life

There is no real pressure on the earn rate, it was just a random figure because it equates to a nice round sum of $1k if i achieved the goal.

Im much looser on the regular tables, i think its just because i have no stats on anyone in Zoom so im just being a little tighter than normal.

Once i get a better idea of the type of opponents im up against then ill hopefully adjust accordingly.

Zoom does seem to play slightly different but im not sure what it is yet, ill probably watch some Zoom videos on DC when i have the chance.

Thanks for the advice though and welcome to the thread djdoodoo.

A slight setback in my plans today ..

Did not get back from snooker until later than i had hoped .. so ive only managed two smallish sessions ..could maybe play another but feel a bit knackered.

Ill have to make up the hands throughout the week when i have free evenings, do not want the total to get too far ahead of me.

Update anyway.

Day Two Total

Hands / Target - 1363 / 3226 ( -1863 )

bb/100 / Target - 22.74 / 4.00

Monthly Total

Hands / Target - 5091 / 6452 ( -1361 )

bb/100 / Target - 12.60 / 4.00

Win rate is looking good hap. Maybe you should try and play some extra sessions soon so that you are ahead of schedule. Then when the inevitable happens and you dont have much time to play some days you wont be in too bad of shape, rather than going through the pressure of trying to play catch up for volume and having it affect your motivation if you slip too far behind.

Yeah, dont want to get too far behind too quickly otherwise it will just become impossible for me to catch up.

Hopefully ... im free most evenings this week so ill start putting in some sessions from around 6pm or so.

Pretty busy with work as another job has come in so ill be doing that for the next few days so there will be little chance to play in the daytime.

My move upto $25nl has gone better than i could have hoped for ... all you ask is to run ok when you move up ... ive had that go my way thankfully.

Played 22329 hands and just broke the $500 mark for exactly 9bb/100.

I know a bad spell is probably on its way but that is fine .. just happy to start well at a new level.

I do not feel too bad about it for some reason ... im probably unwell or something

It happened in the last minute of my hourly session and i can honestly say i felt really good.

I was up around 75bb in under 900 hands and my won at showdown graph line had literally flat lined throughout the whole session... it literally stayed at zero through the whole hour.

To stay focused like that and then to get that thrown at me right at the end would normally throw me into anarchy.

Yesterday ... i had NJD at the tables ... today it was Rosh ... i feel good to play at the same tables as these guys... sign of progress.

you check your graph throughout your session? i would advise you not to as when things arent going well, which eventually will happen given how small the volume will be it could be frustrating/tilting unless you deal well with things when they go badly

short term results are just unnecessary to know.

You should feel good about it because you made the right play and a very +EV one at that (although a touch higher betsizing would have set up a <psb on the river). The result is irrelevant. What he actually had is irrelevant too because you're playing against a range (which you know contains 66), not his actual hand.

Yeah your right ... i started looking at the graph almost without realizing it again.

The sessions have been going well and its quite a nice feeling watching your graph go up in some kind of silly way.

The flip side to that is ... when the sessions are not going along smoothly ( like today ) the graph is a distraction.

So .. i shall take the good advice and not look at it during a session.

Played two hourly sessions so far .. i shall try and play two more tonight.

just try and resist the urge, i dont think anyone can suddenly go cold turkey but building up the self discipline should lead to you not checking.

one thing i do if im trying to aim for volume, is on reports, where you can "stakes" or "positions" is on "stakes" delete the winnings, EV $, bb/100 columns so you can only see hands played. you can always add them in at a later date.
