So in Monaco nothing that exciting happened, I had a big stack about top 10 in chips on day 3 of the Main Event near the money and basically bubbled which was pretty annoying since I just bubbled WSOP Asia-Pacific, and the min cash of 16K euros is a lot (obviously I am aiming way higher than a min cash though), but standard more or less. I made a high variance thin line against a fish, basically back jammed JJ for a decent amount of chips against his squeeze where he's probably just not light often enough, and it's high variance so folding may have been better (although obviously I'm being somewhat results orientated here).
Played various side events and had some funny cashes, 2nd in No Limit Omaha 330 Euro turbo (so close to first place and a nice trophy!), min cash in Crazy Pineapple etc. Hendonmob looks kinda funny now
The hotel and place was really nice like I mentioned earlier, unfortunately also extremely expensive. I paid for a total of 2.5 extra nights which cost like 320 Euros per night :/
Continued joining the PokerStars.TV/EPT Live Stream for commentary, did some commentary on the insane 1000/2000 Euros cash game that Ike, Isildur1, Ragen70 etc played in (500K+ buy-in) and some of the 100K Super High Roller. Pretty ridiculous stakes, people raise to 7K, big blind casually flicks in FIVE THOUSAND EUROS to call...
Weird/funny story, I played a lot with John Juanda in day 2 (the entire day in fact) and afterwards my friends (wizowizo, lissi stinkt etc) ran into John with Erik Seidel in the elevator and he was like "you know how old this kid is!?" to Erik, and Erik is like "oh you're that 19 year old phenom from New Zealand"... Lol think it was somewhat a level/needle but it was still pretty funny/random/wtf, the German friends I was with cracked up pretty hard after they left.. here's a photo of that elevator encounter anyway
Not to be creepy, but a random photo with one of my favourite dealers, a nice French girl
Wizowizo borrowed my laptop to play SCOOP since his is broken, he wins THREE side events in Monte Carlo ($5K PLO, $10K 6-max turbo and $1K Win the Button) - what a crusher, and leaves a trophy in my laptop bag lol. I find out too late so I've taken it home for now
Gonna give it back when I next see him in Europe though obviously lol..
Flew back via Helicopter courtesy of PokerStars VIP club for SuperNova Elites, was pretty cool since it was my first time and there was a nice view.
Got back to New Zealand and grinded one day of SCOOP, played the Zoom (H, M and L) which was pretty fun, but unfortunately busted really quickly (the high was over in just 3 hours!).. Played a tiny bit of zoom cash like my "regular" grind, that was so weird because I've been 4-tabling on my laptop for over an entire month now and going back to 8 was a way bigger shock/jump than I thought. I definitely have to get used to it again, 4-tabling I just think way better whereas 8 I'm auto-piloting way more often. Been running sick this year in general too, although I'm confident I'm playing a lot better too.
Having a great year with live combined with online cash and now MTTs heh.
Lifetime results are starting to look pretty good at 500NL, I feel really confident because throughout this entire sample I was learning, often 8-tabling and so I feel my true EV winrate is a bit higher than the actual winrate since I'm a lot better than I was on average throughout the sample if that makes sense. 200 is pretty break-even lol, but whatever, I explained previously throughout the thread that it's partly because of variance and also because I pay way more attention to 500NL when I'm playing both at the same time. I also know the player pool much better since it's smaller whereas there is so many random/unknown regs at 200.
The start-middle of the lifetime graph you can see I was running ridiculously brutal for ages and that definitely affected my confidence and game in general.
My lifetime Sharkscope graph looks pretty fishy tbh, like a losing player who occasionally binks, but it's a bit better with rakeback. I also played a decent amount of high stakes like 500+ and ran really bad there until today, and played a lot of hypers knowing I would lose pre RB to make dem FPPs.. Excuses, excuses
Finally today, I shipped the Sunday 500
We chopped 4 handed and I got $69K, then we played for 6K more, I was chip leader and ended up winning. Heads Up was kinda frustrating because I had a big chip lead, nearly 5:1 at one point against a weaker/less experienced player who I had a significant edge on, and towards the end he either just had a huge streak of good cards or decided to go really crazy and nothing went right, got to about even stacks but eventually won.
"Only" had about 30% of myself cause I have a backing deal during SCOOP with a good German friend of mine (gonna leave it private), but still feels great for confidence, achievements etc. I also feel super happy I can ship a lot of profits for him because he's a friend and even though I shouldn't, I can't help but feel slightly bad if I lose someone money.
Feeling great about poker, obviously running good this year but it's going really well.
Thanks a lot to everyone for the kind comments, support and words on twoplustwo, Skype, twitter etc. As always thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed! Feel free to ask if you have any questions etc.
