Gonna update properly soon, but yeah just chopped Sunday 500 for 69K and playing for 6K more

I asked for "only" 900 more but I with my stack size in that situation I think my stack is worth significantly more than ICM, I have a pretty big advantage as chip leader when they have to consider ICM, and I had position on the 2nd biggest stack too. Gambler and Pollop are good regs but StaceOP is an inexperienced smaller stake reg so I think overall I have an edge in addition to that. Would have asked for more but those two good regs wouldn't give up too much I think, I realise it seems greedy or ridiculous to halt a deal for it but yeah that's the explanation

So in Monaco nothing that exciting happened, I had a big stack about top 10 in chips on day 3 of the Main Event near the money and basically bubbled which was pretty annoying since I just bubbled WSOP Asia-Pacific, and the min cash of 16K euros is a lot (obviously I am aiming way higher than a min cash though), but standard more or less. I made a high variance thin line against a fish, basically back jammed JJ for a decent amount of chips against his squeeze where he's probably just not light often enough, and it's high variance so folding may have been better (although obviously I'm being somewhat results orientated here).

Played various side events and had some funny cashes, 2nd in No Limit Omaha 330 Euro turbo (so close to first place and a nice trophy!), min cash in Crazy Pineapple etc. Hendonmob looks kinda funny now

The hotel and place was really nice like I mentioned earlier, unfortunately also extremely expensive. I paid for a total of 2.5 extra nights which cost like 320 Euros per night :/

Continued joining the PokerStars.TV/EPT Live Stream for commentary, did some commentary on the insane 1000/2000 Euros cash game that Ike, Isildur1, Ragen70 etc played in (500K+ buy-in) and some of the 100K Super High Roller. Pretty ridiculous stakes, people raise to 7K, big blind casually flicks in FIVE THOUSAND EUROS to call...

Weird/funny story, I played a lot with John Juanda in day 2 (the entire day in fact) and afterwards my friends (wizowizo, lissi stinkt etc) ran into John with Erik Seidel in the elevator and he was like "you know how old this kid is!?" to Erik, and Erik is like "oh you're that 19 year old phenom from New Zealand"... Lol think it was somewhat a level/needle but it was still pretty funny/random/wtf, the German friends I was with cracked up pretty hard after they left.. here's a photo of that elevator encounter anyway

Not to be creepy, but a random photo with one of my favourite dealers, a nice French girl

Wizowizo borrowed my laptop to play SCOOP since his is broken, he wins THREE side events in Monte Carlo ($5K PLO, $10K 6-max turbo and $1K Win the Button) - what a crusher, and leaves a trophy in my laptop bag lol. I find out too late so I've taken it home for now Gonna give it back when I next see him in Europe though obviously lol..

Flew back via Helicopter courtesy of PokerStars VIP club for SuperNova Elites, was pretty cool since it was my first time and there was a nice view.

Got back to New Zealand and grinded one day of SCOOP, played the Zoom (H, M and L) which was pretty fun, but unfortunately busted really quickly (the high was over in just 3 hours!).. Played a tiny bit of zoom cash like my "regular" grind, that was so weird because I've been 4-tabling on my laptop for over an entire month now and going back to 8 was a way bigger shock/jump than I thought. I definitely have to get used to it again, 4-tabling I just think way better whereas 8 I'm auto-piloting way more often. Been running sick this year in general too, although I'm confident I'm playing a lot better too.

Having a great year with live combined with online cash and now MTTs heh.

Lifetime results are starting to look pretty good at 500NL, I feel really confident because throughout this entire sample I was learning, often 8-tabling and so I feel my true EV winrate is a bit higher than the actual winrate since I'm a lot better than I was on average throughout the sample if that makes sense. 200 is pretty break-even lol, but whatever, I explained previously throughout the thread that it's partly because of variance and also because I pay way more attention to 500NL when I'm playing both at the same time. I also know the player pool much better since it's smaller whereas there is so many random/unknown regs at 200.
The start-middle of the lifetime graph you can see I was running ridiculously brutal for ages and that definitely affected my confidence and game in general.

My lifetime Sharkscope graph looks pretty fishy tbh, like a losing player who occasionally binks, but it's a bit better with rakeback. I also played a decent amount of high stakes like 500+ and ran really bad there until today, and played a lot of hypers knowing I would lose pre RB to make dem FPPs.. Excuses, excuses

Finally today, I shipped the Sunday 500
We chopped 4 handed and I got $69K, then we played for 6K more, I was chip leader and ended up winning. Heads Up was kinda frustrating because I had a big chip lead, nearly 5:1 at one point against a weaker/less experienced player who I had a significant edge on, and towards the end he either just had a huge streak of good cards or decided to go really crazy and nothing went right, got to about even stacks but eventually won.

"Only" had about 30% of myself cause I have a backing deal during SCOOP with a good German friend of mine (gonna leave it private), but still feels great for confidence, achievements etc. I also feel super happy I can ship a lot of profits for him because he's a friend and even though I shouldn't, I can't help but feel slightly bad if I lose someone money.

Feeling great about poker, obviously running good this year but it's going really well.

Thanks a lot to everyone for the kind comments, support and words on twoplustwo, Skype, twitter etc. As always thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed! Feel free to ask if you have any questions etc.

hey david congrats on the ship. nz has a few good online players but it is good to have a superstar like yourself doing well on the live felt. would u ever consider going and living in europe, getting the 2 year visa for the uk? i imagine it would work out a lot cheaper.

gl for the rest of the year. might see u at the nz poker champs one day if they ever drop the buyin to a respectable 500 or so.

oh and loving ur photos. ive travelled all over europe/ north america myself its awesome. will have to get to iceland next time. i miss the good looking girls of europe nz girls just arent the same.

Thanks Mike, feels great and yeah really happy with how 500NL is going, it's a fairly "stable" income for me, relative to MTTs etc for now and hope it stays that way (or even gets better!).

Thanks, appreciate all of that. The commentary was a lot of fun and I'm glad some people enjoyed it. In some ways I don't like giving out my thought processes to people I don't know (i.e. they might know who I am but not vice-versa) but oh well

Thanks for that, appreciate the nice words. I would consider it for sure, but mostly because I like the girls in Europe so much haha. I don't think it would be cheaper, especially in the UK though, Auckland is fairly cheap in terms of expenses. I wouldn't be too keen on cheaper places like Eastern Europe etc anyway. Photos have been fun, unfortunately not always bringing my good camera with me for convenience reasons but even iPhone is okay these days! Iceland is great, if you get the chance definitely do it and the Northern Lights.

Btw (and this goes to anyone else in a somewhat similar situation) I would highly recommend trying to sell some action and playing a tournament that you think is a good opportunity, but is too expensive for your bankroll. Even if it means you selling it at no mark up. People are always keen to buy in general! You get a nice opportunity to win some money, but it's also just great to get experience early on. I played a few tourneys that my backer/I weren't really rolled for by selling some action and it's definitely helped my game/experience as well as allowed me to take some profitable spots.

Hey bud, appreciate all of that. The EPT live team are pretty good with reading out tweets/e-mails, they usually reply to most of them unless there's a lot to talk about at the time. Again thanks for the nice words. If I do come to Sydney for sure would love to be shown around and meet up for some drinks/food. Don't think there is really any NZ forums, the community is kinda small etc. Thanks and good luck to you too!

Hmmm got 8th in the Bigger 55 today, busted TT to 99 for what would have been a very nice stack Cashed for about $2K.
Also got 2nd in a 44 Turbo, I felt like I had a pretty big edge Heads Up and when we looked at numbers I asked for like $100 more, the guy wouldn't give it so we played and I lost.. Lol, that was for about $4K.

On the exact money bubble of the $1K SCOOP, min cash is $2K. Day 2 resumes tomorrow so GL me I have a pretty short stack but there are multiple stacks that are significantly shorter.

Not a particularly interesting update but thought I should get back into the habit of updating more often heh.

Need to start giving freerolls out to make sure I update more often haha..

The rest of SCOOP ended up pretty poorly for me, I bricked basically all the highs except a near min-cash in a 1K so ended up losing a decent clip mostly in high stakes. Had a look at my overall graph for the year and I'm down like $30K in 2K+ tournies this year over like a 30 game sample which is pretty lol. Obviously I had a very small % risked personally for these buy-ins but still is kinda lame to skew my stats that much I guess?

Also started putting in a tiny bit more volume in hypers again, mainly to start getting ready to catch up in VPPs again. Had a look at my overall/lifetime results and I think whilst there's plenty of room for improvement to be desired, I'm "happy" given not having done any study on them, mass-tabling and not game selecting. Again, I'm mostly just playing them for VPPs to maintain elite as it means I will get significantly more RB for the rest of the games I've played. Works out to about $1 a game after rakeback so with the number of games I play per hour it's not too bad of an hourly (significantly lower than my Zoom though). The graph is also not quite accurate as it misses a decentish amount of BOP prizes and some disconnect refunds.

Gonna see how things go but probably play some MTTs more than usual because of softer games during WSOP, but definitely gotta catch up on them VPPs.. 180K atm, hoping to not have a huge December or even November again..

Went to ANZPT Melbourne Repecharge, busted 3 bullets there good for 1.1K each time! Built up a huge stack of like 250 from 20 starting on the second day 1, but somehow busted that.. Real common theme of building huge stacks and losing (not even cashing) them recently.. Hopefully things will turn around there, not gonna complain about my run in MTTs though I guess.

Played a few MTTs today, had a few near deep or deep runs that didn't work out too well, although I played some 180s in the first time for a while and I won a 35, 3rd in 35 and 3rd in a 15. Obviously I ran good in 180s today but it was refreshing to be playing a game where I feel I have a very big edge against most of the regs, as opposed to Zoom 500 where a tonne of the regs have an edge on me etc.

GL everyone!
