Hey all!

I'm a 26 year old (about to be 27) dude who used to be a fish, but is now deciding to put in some effort to da pokes. I have a scattered background in cash and mtts, but never got very good at either. I feel like I've always had the potential, but never put in the effort as other things were more important.

I've decided to make poker a bigger part of my life. I like my current job a lot, especially compared to all of the customer service I've ever worked, but I also love poker and would love to live on my own terms. I'm hoping I can replace my job with poker by next year. This shouldn't be hard...I only make $14/hr (plus overtime), so about $23,000/year (which, for the area I live in, is good enough. Add in my girlfriend and we make just over $50,000 net).

I'm also currently a business student, and would love to own a juicing business or restaurant one day, so that's the long term goal (I also obv love to cook...which is good because my gf doesn't ever do it...). I have a long way to go though as I'm only in my first year, but it's something I know I need to complete, and I'm very motivated to do so.

So here I am. I have my goals in mind, and now I just need to put in the work. Some of the other things I'm interested in improving are my eating habits (although I probably eat healthier than most), physical activity (working out), music (both guitar and ambient/trip-hop electronic via ableton live), meditation, and who I am as a person.

I think we as individuals can do anything our mind is set to. We just have to find our motivation and then do anything we can to achieve our goals. Where there is hard work there is results. I think I'm finally ready for the work part!


Goals time. I'm going to start slow as I have so many other obligations.

-Minimum 400 sngs/week
-Minimum 5 minutes meditation/day
-"Study" poker a minimum of 6 hours/week
-Improve upon my already improved eating habits
-Some sort of workout minimum 4x/week
-Straight A's in school
-Guitar a minimum of 30 min/day
-Enjoyable reading a minimum of 30 min/day
-Be the best person I can each day and treat everyone with respect

I will update the goals as my journey continues, and I will be throwing mtt's into the mix as my bankroll grows. Speaking of; my current roll is like $360, and I will be playing $5s for now.

This thread will act as my personal journal to track my growth.

Forgot to mention I will be playing $5s on ACR. They have a weekly sng race, so another goal will be to make some money via that promo. At first, if I can crack the top 20 I'll be happy.

Played a 3 hour session tonight...got in 40 sngs. I can't wait until I can add in $10s to increase my volume. Made $35 and didn't run the best. Definitely need to work on my shove and call ranges, which I will be putting a lot of work into moving forward. I'm 20th on the sit and crush leader board right now and haven't put in a ton of volume up to this point. This leads me to believe I can break top 15 weekly. I also need to refine my poker goals. Looking forward to putting in more work tomorrow.
