Hi all ^_^
So a little about me. My name is Oli and I go by the name of SickFold89 on P’stars. I’ve played poker for like 5 or 6 years, but have’t seen it as anything more than a hobby until a few months ago where I’ve been more engaged than ever by poker Twitch streamers (<3JCarver <3JaimeStaples <3AirDraken). Watching these guys has made me want to revaluate my game and realise that I could be a much better player if I applied myself.
Although I currently work as a tech journalist in the UK, I’m considering different career options, so in the mean time I want to focus on improving my game and eventually moving up in stakes. Although I’ve never been a big winner, I’ve never been reckless enough to lose any substantial amount at the same time. Under strict BRM, I want to see where I end up.
Plan of action
- Start with $23 and grind .25c 45-man MTTSNGs.
- Drop down to .10c 360-man if necessary
- Move up to $.50 45-man MTTSNGs when I hit $50
- Move to $1 45-man MTTSNGs when I hit $100
- Play 4 times a week around my 9-5. Look to get in a hundred tournaments a week, minimum.
- Read one poker book a month and study sessions every other day
- Learn poker math
- Start using PT4 seeming I've just bought it
- Post hands regularly in MTTSNG forum
- Update PGC twice a week with theory I've learnt and results
- Start personal training sessions (lose flab)
End goal
First and foremost, I don’t have any major financial goals in sight. I’m lucky to be in a position that I don’t need to rely on poker for an income. Instead I want to understand the mechanics of the game better and distance myself from being more of a ‘feel’ player to a more mathematical sound and competent player. It’s all about taking baby steps.
Keep the grind on the mind
