OHMYGOD. you absolute monster troll. Amazing how you managed to trick 2p2 so much. So jealous of your trolling skills.
dude i wasn't actually trolling this time, i really do have terrible stop loss strategy. but sorry for bringing this thread slightly off topic, wasn't my intention i didn't know it would sprout a big conversation
Ben, I like the idea that you will be checking results less often and focusing less on winning sessions or being up for the day and I try to do similar.
However, having tried this myself do you not think that not checking for a month is going from one extreme to the other? When I did this I found it started to weigh on my mind more and more as the month progressed and it seemed to breed a lot of paranoia about how I might be doing.
My results were actually very good that month as I prob benefited from not having either winners or losers tilt. But I felt like a month was too long so I usually go for once a week or fortnightly now.
I'll go til mid July without checking then see how I feel.
Gl
hey man, thanks for your thoughts. I actually decided to do weekly checks so that the over weighing on my mind as you described doesn't become overwhelming. I'm 100% seeing benefits of doing it so far and think that it's something that will become easier to do (temptation i mean)

haha, i saw you mention this in the micros thread and thought it was a pretty crazy way of doing things. Each to their own though, but as many have said i strongly suggest widening your stop loss/win boundaries.

The AQ call pre was a breaking game with super aggro regs itb so thought calling was lowest variance. People tend to be going crazier nowadays when the table is breaking so this spot becomes less of a 3b for me. Perhaps this is slightly silly but hey.
You make an interesting point about checking river with AQ. I just know that when called ott, i don't expect to get many folds otr and also expect a lot of check backs. Thought shoving was my best option but it felt kinda thin - fold out worse and get called by better. Definitely slightly contradicted myself here but it's one of those horrible spots that i find hard to come to a concrete conclusion.

yeah i know you weren't and np.

Played really well today and i definitely ran bad overall (received a few bad beats). Hoping to continue playing the way i am because since i stopped checking my results i have felt so relaxed throughout all my grinds. Even after playing for 5 hours yesterday i was feeling really fresh.
Preflop: Hero is SB with K K
MP folds, CO raises to $6, BTN folds, Hero calls $5, BB raises to $18, CO folds, Hero raises to $42, BB raises to $109.41 and is all-in, Hero calls $67.41
Flop: ($224.82) 7 5 Q (2 players, 1 is all-in) Turn: ($224.82) 4 (2 players, 1 is all-in) River: ($224.82) 5 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: $224.82 pot ($2.80 rake)
Final Board: 7 5 Q 4 5
Hero showed K K and lost (-$109.41 net)
BB showed 3 6 and won $222.02 ($112.61 net)
I have an interview tomorrow for an unbelievable position volunteering at a university in london. It's a group interview with multiple parts, one of them will be role playing as the therapist with a client. It's always pretty nerve racking going into an interview, particularly being as young as i am in comparison to the average therapist, but i'm hoping the fact that the client base will be university students it will work in my favour.
So this month has been super swingy for me. Feel that i have played around B game for the first 1/3 of the month, second third of the month played B- to C game and then the last 5 days close to A game.
Graph
Winrates by table
As we can see I ran good at my higher limits overall and did garbage at my bread and butter games - 200nl.
Here's my 1knl graph for the month too
Reviewing my goals from the start of the month:

[x] Finish off the Mental Game of Poker with note taking - Audiobook completed, actual book still working on
[ ] 12 gym sessions - went 6 times
So i made £837 playing live and another £960 staking.
Also bossed my VPP's this month (~$2800 in rb) and that was even after taking the first whole week off to finish my studies.
Month Total: $11,037
This is where i feel i stand with my non poker bits and pieces:
Just wanted to end with how my interview went today. So there were 10 interviewees and like 7 of them including myself were roughly between 28-34 which is super rare for the therapy world. This put a ton more pressure on me but i don't feel it effected me too badly. As i said there were 10 in the interview and it turns out that only 2 get spots at the university. I'd say that as a whole i gave it my absolute best shot and there's nothing else i could have done differently looking back. The main thing that's playing on my mind is that the majority of candidates where either on masters or had completed their masters. Being extremely academically inferior to them certainly puts me in a much worse spot, however i was invited to the interview in the first place which feels like it counts for something. I'll be hearing back by the end of next week whether or not they want to take me on.
Also i actually forgot to mention that as of Friday i passed my course and am officially a qualified therapist! Feels awesome that all the hard work has paid off and i now have something to fall back on when poker inevitably dies with all this bot talk!
Lastly, July Goals:
[ ] 75k hands
[ ] Profit
[ ] Only check results once a week
[ ] Finish reading the Mental Game of Poker
[ ] Meditate at least 21/30 days
[ ] 500 hands of 1knl
[ ] 12 gym sessions...
[?] Go to Budapest
Do you think you play worse at 200 when mixing it with higher limits?
hey man, didn't know you were a lurker here..! I wanna say no, but i have been quite conscious that particularly when i have a 1k game, my eyes will constantly moving from that table to other actions which suggests im looking at it way more. I think that i MUST play a little more differently there particularly because i feel so comfortable at 200. Will keep an eye on it and see!

Gl with July on and off the tables.
Cheers dev and thanks for the vote of confidence. It'll be a sweat waiting to hear back that's for sure and ofc i'll be disappointed if i don't get it, but not at all surprised.

Today was absolutely awful in terms of the way i ran but i am so so happy that i held it together and didn't do what i feel like i would normally do and spew off some stacks. If i were to guess i'd assume i lost around 2k. I ran big pairs/AK into AA 6 times as well today, only chopping 1 runout out of the lot.
Hey mate, nice thread enjoyed the read - and nice work last month. Subbed.
Couple questions if ok:
Do you call down ak otr if it bricks? You also specify villain is good reg. Do good regs really 3b co v ep with 74s? Seems a spew to me.
KQs cold calling 3b in sb. I personally like a cold 4b here most times, or fold. I pretty much would never cold call a 3b, but unsure if this is the correct way to go.
Would be very interested in yours and others views on these hands, kqs in particular.

Hi dave, cheers for checking out the thread. If the river bricks i think i would fold with the ace of hearts as we block many of his bluff combos. As for him 3betting 74s, yes this is very bad tbh good players make stupid plays sometimes too. I just advise strongly against copying his play
The KQs was kinda close because whilst the fish is 3betting a lot, i don't feel comfortable getting in 59bb preflop. I think with this specific hand and the fishes 3b sizing we can call profitably pre with the added fact that the reg is a) opening extremely wide pre to get hu with the fish and therefore doesn't 4b too much and b) KQs plays extremely well multi way. I would have to say that this isn't my 'standard' play, but i definitely think it's reasonable to good. If the 3b was bigger, even by 2bb more then i would definitely be folding.

Today was awful again. I got totally pounded in every spot and ran into top of ranges constantly, however i feel i played really good poker again. Found it even harder to not look at my results again today but i can be happy that i didn't do it! Very proud. Myself and a mate have got a prop bet on only checking results weekly with a $50 penalty each time you fail so i gotta keep strong for that if nothing else!
vs average reg. Would like thoughts on all three hands if anyone cba:
River: ($107) 2 (2 players)
BB bets $613.61 and is all-in
Couldn't find the gopro for footage last night which was a real shame cus it was a great game. We beat them 2-1. Again their goalkeeper just made some of the best saves i've ever seen to prevent them losing to a probable double figures!
Going to a gig with my gf tonight to see a mate of ours band. This is one of their old songs, i strongly recommend checking them out!
AQ I can't fold river, kudos to you if you can correctly. Flop and turn seem std given we have Qs.
JT assuming 'average' 400NL regs have bluffs here I'm not folding. Depending on how he plays his flop range turn overbet might be fun, especially if we can go as wide as like KJ?
TT I fold, would rather call like A9s
Seems like all three hands youre much better placed to answer than us since they're spots where almost no reg will be balanced and with all the stats should be fairly easy to figure out what's best.
Vs completely random reg with no stats at these stakes I'd go call call fold, 1)- top of our range (unless you flat AA AK but that's pretty few combos since the frequency isn't going to be 100%) don't wanna fold everything and you look fairly capped vs someone who can hand read okay.
2) seems hard for him to have many flushes, people hate jamming non nut flushes, anyone who does have a bluffing range here likely over bluffs so that makes up for the percent of pop who never bluff imo. And Ts.
3) our hand is crap and we're facing an obet shove in a spot where people don't bluff unless they're fish in my experience
Keep crushing Ben!!!! and congratulations. I'm sure you will bink this position too. It hurts my brain to think how someone can go out of their way to HELP other people!
