nice thread, stay updating!

Thanks! That was my goal. Stay consistent. Show the real ups and downs of poker. Don't stop posting when running bad or losing. Would I change some things in my journey? Of course! Who wouldn't? But the journey is there for everyone to see.

October Update

Another pretty good month in the Ontario pools!

Total was $13104.23 + $4348.47 ($2253.47 WSOP Fish Buffet, $345 WSOP Leaderboard, 4 $250 dollar chests, $500 from leaderboards & $250 BetMGM Grinder Rewards) = +$17452.70

October Goals:

-30k Hands (✓)
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio (X)
-Focus more on 500nl+ (✓)

Played the volume I wanted, but didnt study as much again.

November Goals:

-30k Hands
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio

Same goals. I have a plan to make sure I get the study in. I know the games are good so people might say you don't have to study that much, but I still play vs regs sometimes lol. I have to stay sharp!

GG/WSOP.CA

For those of you who missed it I made two videos about GG/WSOP in Ontario. They were pretty popular. Although there was a slight mistake in rake calcuation in the first video I figured it out in the second and the rake still is basically the same as I predicted.

https://youtu.be/o81eT-kH0mI
https://youtu.be/N1mW6ziRWOY

Coaching

After putting it off for a long time, since some people requested it, I have finally decided to offer coaching!

More details here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...it?usp=sharing

I think specifically the database review for micro/low stakes players and maybe even mid stakes players could be extremely valuable because I have in my opinion some of the most detailed custom H2N profiles along with simulated solver hands to compare your stats to. I have a video going over it in more detail in the document.

Also, the database review has nothing to do with how I play or coach it's just comparing stats and identifying areas you are deviating from solver or a high stake reg alias.

I have always said I didn't want to coach until I've "earned the right to" with my results and methodology. I feel like I am there now and I look forward to working with more of you!

Let's hope the Ontario run good continues! 💰

Matt’s database review and coaching is top tier for small stakes guys like me. He has really helped me excel my game finding my major leaks and giving me a gameplan to fix my leaks. Thanks bro appreciate you.

Sick blog, didn't know you had a blog. I saw your video in the Ontario poker players server about GG, it was great.

Maybe I'll see you on the tables! I just jumped back into the pool at 50nl, and will be moving to 100nl soon.

November Update

I guess the Ontario run good is finally over

Total was -$9083.99 + $7344.03 ($4139.03 WSOP Fish Buffet, $1635 WSOP Leaderboard, 5 $250 dollar chests, $70 from PS leaderboards & $250 BetMGM Grinder Rewards) = -$1739.96

November Goals:

-30k Hands (✓)
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio (X)

December Goals:

-20k Hands
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio

I leave for Florida for two weeks on the 17th. Plus I have some family holiday dinners and events throughout the month. Hopefully I can get in 20k hands.

Channel Update:

https://youtu.be/flVpW07nB-0

I made a recent video on YouTube about the future of my YouTube and Twitch channels. I will give it a bit more thought during my holidays of what my plan will be with that going forward.

If I continue I want it to be a lot higher quality that what I have been putting out and a lot more consistent. If I am being honest, I'm not too happy with what I've been putting out the last few months and I'm more so just making content to make content vs actually try to provide value and entertainment.

Let's hope for some run good again in December and end the year strong!

December/End Of Year Update

Good run to end the year before I went to Florida!

Total: +$16410.83 + $3517.12 ($2447.12 WSOP Fish Buffet, $320 WSOP Leaderboard, 3 $250 dollar chests) = +$19927.95

December Goals:

-20k Hands (✓)
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio (X)

I barely got the 20k hands and I also finally got to see the GOAT Tom Brady before he retires.

2022 Results:

Total: +$42081.18 (Cash Results) +$55129.62 (Rakeback) = +$97210.80

Lets look at what my goals were for 2022:

1. Play 1k+ (✓)
2. Play Better Vs Recreationals (✓)
3. More Focus (X)
4. Play Deep (✓)
5. Study More (X)
6. Content (X)
7. Coaching (X)

This was a wild year. It started with disappointment over the rumors of Ontario getting ringfenced, to after months of delays Ontario finally switching over to then having the best year to date.

When Ontario switched over my studying and motivation took a big hit. My content also became less consistent.

At the end of it all I feel like there is a real big opportunity here in the Ontario pools to make a substantial amount of money. A once in a lifetime opportunity. I feel like spending time on content right now might not be the best use of my time. Although I might fire up the odd stream or upload a video here or there my priority should be to make the maximum I can while it lasts.

One last thing I would like to show in 2023. Lets please end the love for small sample graphs that mean nothing. If you are crushing a soft pool for 5bb+ why not put in the volume to see if it lasts over a long sample? Anyone can run hot for 10k, 20k even 50k+ hands. People massively underestimate the variance in poker and that was one of my main motivators for starting this blog in the first place . I've seen it way too much lately on Twitter. You can make a bunch of changes to your game, but you won't know if it works in 20k hands. You could sun run or run bad. Lets promote and celebrate those who post big samples.

January Goals:

-50k Hands
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio

Let's start the year strong!

January Update

Another good month!

Total was +$20091.57 + $6416.25 ($5166.25 WSOP & $1250 PS) = +$26507.82

January Goals:

-50k Hands (✓)
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio (X)

Played a good amount of volume. Need to study a bit more though. Still slacking there month after month. It's kind of unacceptable how lazy I am with targeted studying. Especially if I want to sit with regs sometimes to hold tables.

February Goals:

-50k Hands
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio

I've been playing around with Ruse a bit (A new program that will officially launch soon) It is a lot faster than deepsolver and seems promising. I also have been running a lot of fun experiments with friends, but nothing specific to improve. I keep saying it each monthly wrap up to put more time in and I never do it. It has to change now. No excuses.

Still likely no content in February, but maybe again in March. We will see...

Ruse is a more of a solver where as Wizard is a browser of pre solved solutions. So, with Ruse you can pick your parameters and it solves fast with their AI unlike deepsolver which seemed to be often slower than just running the Sim myself. Also, their dynamic sizing thing is pretty interesting, especially with the latest update.

Is it applicable for 6max solves? Cuz in my reading on their page it seemed more like a HUNL solver. But perhaps I’m just missing something obvious (entirely possible)?
Nice month btw, very solid.

It does solve hu pre flop, but you can input custom ranges too

Where are you playing these days? I'm assuming the C$5/C$10 means Pokerstars Ontario 5/10 and the regular $5/$10 is 5/10 USD in a global pool?

Also, do you see the pool getting much tougher a couple years down the road?

Technically when you download hands from PokerStars the hh are in usd so the actual total amount I won is higher as hm3 is in usd. Gg I think is usd as well and party is in cad. If I convert hm3 to cad it screws everything up so I keep it this way. Lastly, I only play on those 3 sites right now.

Eventually I assume it will be tougher. But even at 5/10 most of the time and some of the time at 2/5 it’s 5 regs and 1 rec.

They are all doing a lot of advertising and promotion which is good.

February Update

I guess I was due for a down month, but since it's over 10k I can't complain too much

Total was +$2678.61 + $7,650.54 ($6400.54 WSOP & $1250 PS) = +$10329.15

February Goals:

-50k Hands (✓)
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio (X)

I definitely studied a bit more as promised. I still could do more though

March Goals:

-35k Hands
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio

Less hands this month as I will be going to Vegas for a week March 23-30. If anyone is down there and wants to meet up, I am open to that!

Let's hope the run good comes back in March!

March Update

Pretty good bounce back online and live.

Total was +$12438.54 + $7810.23 ($7060.23 WSOP & $750 PS) = +$20248.77

I also played 5 sessions while in Vegas. I ended up +$5667 over 12 hours. I was a bit disappointed because I wanted to play 20 hours, but I had a lot going on and can't complain with the result. I also had a really good time.

I won't count that toward the total because I probably gave back 2k in craps and 1k in slots with my cousin haha Thats before going to the speedway, golf, seeing O, Shin Lim, Pizza Convention and Taylor Swift.

I think I will definitely go back in July, but focus on mainly poker this time

March Goals:

-35k Hands (✓)
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio (X)

April Goals:

-50k Hands
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio

In April, I hope to play 50k hands again and get back into the online routine.

I also am enjoying some of the HU matches. In particular the paint vs brown one. Makes me want to work on my HU game and have a challenge myself. However, as I said at the beginning of the year the priority is to make as much as I can while these Ontario pools are still good.

Let's have a good April!
