Likely run hot. You can't really tell anything from that small of a sample win rate wise.

April Update

Back to back good months! Getting some EV back from earlier in the year.

Total was +$8972.26 + $5200.00 ($3200 monthly poker challenge and 8 $250 dollar chests) = +$14172.26

April Goals:

-Win at 500nl (✓)

I only had one goal for last month and that was to win at 500nl. I did it, but sample means nothing.

May Goals:

-Win at 500nl again

Same goal. I will try to play more at 500nl than I did last month. The problem is I needed to finish the RB challenge and usually there isn't enough volume to do it without grinding zoom and 500z never runs these days.

I think from everything I am hearing this will be the last month for Ontario in the global pool. Once SCOOP is done, we will transfer over. I am sorry for the lack of streams lately. It's just still pretty demotivating. I wish Stars and GG would look at the traffic 888 and betmgm (Party) is getting and talk with the regulators and say if you want more tax $ let people in Ontario stay in the global pool similar to something like the Czech Republic laws.

Nice results. Last 30k hands is pure crushing. Any change in strategy, plugged some leaks or just good mindset and good run? Always interesting what is the story behind graphs.

Nothing really. Just variance. Poker can be a crazy game sometimes

May Update

I guess after back to back really good 10k+ months we had to come back to reality

Total was -$2427.34 + $5850 ($3600 monthly poker challenges and 9 $250 dollar chests) = +$3422.66

May Goals:

-Win at 500nl (✓)

I really wanted to play more at 500, but there isn't a lot of action when I play which is frustrating.

On a side note in preparation for ringfenced Ontario I started to play a bit on WPN and add some of those tables. Seems ok so far. I have to clear a deposit bonus this upcoming month, so I will have to play there a bit more.

My Bodog account is still under review since December so I can't play there again yet.

June Goals:

-Hit PS Monthly Poker Challenge
-Clear WPN Matching Bonus

The goal for June is just play and hit the challenges. Study a bit and pray that the ringfenced Ontario continues to be delayed as long as possible haha

Let's hope for a great summer! 💰

June is complete. Again wasn't the best, but I can't complain with the rakeback. Also, we FINALLY got some clarity on the Ontario situation!

Total was $622.34 + $5870 ($3200 monthly poker challenge, 8 $250 dollar chests, $150 leaderboards & $520 first deposit bonus) = +$6492.34

June Goals:

-Hit PS Monthly Poker Challenge (✓)
-Clear WPN Matching Bonus (X)

I was able to grind enough volume to finish the PokerStars challenge, but unfortunately I sort of wasted the BCP first deposit bonus. I should've waited until PokerStars left Ontario before depositing, but I wanted to test it out so what can I do.

What I am sure a lot of you are wondering, now that PokerStars is officially Ontario only, what will be my plan going forward?

For those of you who haven't heard about the Ontario government situation I made a video about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93C75w8FrPE&t=14s

I knew this was going to happen for months, but it was still hard to know what my plan would be without seeing how much traffic Ontario poker would have and how soft the games would be.

Here is the Stars lobby at 9pm (Sort of peak time) on a Friday:

Here is Party at around the same time:

Both have zoom, but there is always 0 players. GG is still to come as wsop.ca.

I debated some options:

#1 I could just retire. I spend quite a bit of time playing and studying even though I don't play for a living. Also, the local casino took out live poker after covid and replaced that space with video blackjack, roulette, craps and baccarat. My goal was always to play high stakes, be one of the best in the world and open a stable of my own. With Ontario only now that is basically impossible unless I move. It would be the perfect time to get out.

The thing is I have build up a decent income and skillset. Also, my stream and YouTube are growing.

#2 I could grind WPN like I grinded PokerStars and play for mostly rakeback. I likely could get around 40-60% rakeback from my estimations. The games don't seem as bad as people say. However, I have only played maybe 30k hands. Not that big of a sample to tell.

The problem with this option is although profitable, it never really aligned with my goals and do I really want to live that life of grinding a small winrate with swings for hours and hours a day? Also, sites can change rewards at any time and take away my income.

#3 Grind apps. I tested some app games and I guess it depends on the club and who you know. Maybe it could be an option.

The problem is the rake is insane. Some games are around 15bb/100 rake and you're always at risk of getting cheated.

#4 Finally do what I've said I should do for months or maybe years lol. Focus on studying and reg tables. Table select well over a few sites and actually play for win rate. This would sort of future proof me and also help for live when I travel.

How much volume can I get on the Ontario sites and how high can I play? WPN I can play a bit higher, but my income might be capped and I could make way more picking #2 potentially.

After a lot of thought and consideration I decided to go with #4. What does that mean going forward? For the stream I am not sure yet. We will see how much volume there is during the times I stream now. It would be a lot slower with less hands. I don't want to commit to anything with it yet. It wont go away, I am just not sure what my plan will be. YouTube will stay pretty much the same as it is now.

July Goals:

-30k Hands
-1:1 Study To Play Ratio
-Don't be enticed by rakeback!!!!

That is my July goals. Lets see if I finally stick with it for once.

Now to end this long post since we hit the halfway point of the year I will do a mid year update:

Total: $10847.80 + $33670 Rakeback = +$44517.80

Bless rakeback! I suppose that is over now though. I am slightly surprised that my win rate isn't much higher than last year. I tried to change a lot of things the past few months. Different strategies vs fish especially. It hasn't seemed to perform that much better than my "theory" based style. With that being said with small win rates variance can be insane. But it should be better than that you would think...

Anyways, that is all for this update. Let's hope I actually follow through on my plan and stay focused. Let's have a great rest of the summer now that we finally have some clarity in Ontario! 💰

July Update

Not a bad first full month grinding mostly PokerStars Ontario. It would've been nice to run better at higher stakes, but I did well in the Platinum Series so it evens out.

I wasn't planning on playing a full schedule, but after I won a tournament the first day I figured I would go for the platinum pass. Even though I did well in the series, I didnt even finish on the leaderboard haha!

Total was $-1548.33 + $3428 + $3490 (5 $500 dollar chests & $990 from leaderboards. Surprising 18% rakeback from leaderboards. I guess with less players I'm more likely to win) = +$5369.67

July Goals:

-30k Hands (✓)
-1:1 Study To Play Ratio (✓)
-Don't be enticed by rakeback!!!! (✓)

August Goals:

-30k Hands
-1:1 Study To Play Ratio

I barely played on WPN this month because of how much action there was on PS. Party seems to have a lot of tables running so I might add that in instead of WPN. Also, PS removed the 4 table cap so volume won't be a problem even with regular tables only. Rake is a bit higher, but I think the quality of games makes up for it. Let's see if it lasts or maybe increases going into the fall.

I studied quite a bit last month. More than I have in a long time. Especially since I have been pretty demotivated with the Ontario switch. I also experimented with some different solvers/training programs. I feel pretty good about my progress and approach to the game right now.

I plan to do the same this this month, but I will try to prioritize 500nl+.

Let's finish the summer strong! 💰

August Update

Lowest volume month ever, but I ran pretty pure!

Total was $8604.14 + $1300 (2 $500 dollar chests & $300 from leaderboards) = +$9904.14

August Goals:

-30k Hands (X)
-1:1 Study To Play Ratio (✓)

I didn't play that much volume this month mostly becuase of studying and experimenting some strategies with friends. Also, I went to Toronto for what was supposed to be only 3 days, but ended up being almost 6 due to flight cancellations. At least I got a 1k credit from Air Canada.

September Goals:

-30k Hands
-1:1 Study To Play Ratio

Same goals as August. I might play some of the Ontario Bounty Builder Series since the Platinum Series went well in July. I hate MTTs though

I am curious to see what Ontario PS rakeback will be since the 50% flat promo ends. Even if its just 25% flat, I will be ok with it. I just hope no monthly poker challenges! I enjoy not being forced to grind for rakeback.

Excited for football to be back next week. Go Colts!

Thanks. Tough to leave when you don't play for a living and have a business here locally. So far its exceeded my expectations. We will see how long it lasts for. I'm excited to see what happens with all the ad dollars being spend, partnerships with the major sports teams and with the fall coming which is peak sports betting season.

September Update

Another pretty good month! Got the EV back from August.

In some non poker stuff, Steve Aoki came to my city to play which was fun. I also made a quick trip to Toronto to see The Weeknd.

While I was there a friend of mine and I drove down to Niagra and played my first ever session there where my royal flush got paid 3 ways. Crazy hand. You wouldn't believe it if I explained it.

Total was $12651.50 + $1460 (4 $250 dollar chests & $460 from leaderboards) = +$14115.50

September Goals:

-30k Hands
-1:1 Study To Play Ratio

I played the volume I wanted, but I will be totally honest I did not study much at all this month. I reviewed some hands here and there, but nothing crazy.

October Goals:

-30k Hands
-1:2 Study To Play Ratio
-Focus more on 500nl+

I don't think 1:1 is realistic in this Ontario player pool. So I am going to shoot for 1:2 I think. I have to be careful to not get too complacent.

I want to focus more on the 500nl+ games this month. Now with GG coming over, maybe that will bring in some more volume. Some of the 2k games have some of the same regs and recs as 1k and 500nl. Maybe I will test those waters. Might sell a bit for that though in the beginning. When the bulk of my volume is 200nl 10x the stakes is a bit much lol.

Might play some ONCOOP we will see...

Let's hope the run good continues! 💰

Well with MR Roberts 10k=10k not 4k + advert to friends as happens being with the CFP boys

Hat off to to OP putting up consistent solid results (4 losing months and 30k below ev here lets go bash that one away)...

Nice results, keep going.

Imo best thread, constant monthly updates with no BS like most of coaches and regs just post ***** 70k sample when upswing and that's all.

Volume is also constant and nice + as I understood OP has business to run too... dunno why these "fulltime" pros play like 30-40k hand samples lmao... I work 168-184 hours full time job and still put 70-80k hands a month.

ask big bananas if we have some app games where you can mouth f-u-c-k the regulars without them even knowing and make a few k / month

better than what you make now?

dont know

shy to ask for such things, each on their own and so on

come on

depressed of **** results
