After a pretty dire year online coupled with a really good year live I'm back to set this years goals and challenges for myself. Going to keep it simple, theres enough about me and what I do in old PGC thread and others around here, happy to answer anything if anyone is interested though.

2012 Yearly Goals and Challenges:
  1. Only play 6max NLHE cash games, my daily homegame tournaments, special promotion tournaments and anything I qualify for with fpps
  2. 300000 hands of 6max cash
  3. See a significant improvement in my play through studying videos and through coaching
  4. Have a +ROI in my homegame tournaments
  5. Become a respected poster in uNL in 2012 after moving from uNLfr where I made little contribution
  6. Maintain my 2:1 at university and push for a 1st class degree

I've had real problems with game selection over the years and have wasted a lot of money on stupid tournaments, playing higher stakes game equivalent to my live play so the 1st goal is very important to me.

In addition to what I want to accomplish over the year I have a plan of monthly goals I want to achieve.

January Goals:
  1. 20k hands
  2. Win at 4bb/100 (whatever the one PT3 give me says)
  3. Finish reading "Treat Your Poker Like a Business"
  4. Nail my university exams!
  5. 5 Cashes in my homegame tournaments

All the best to everyone in 2012

Jake

Will do, I'm actually starting off playing 5nl 6max deep as I've played pretty much no 6max before, I'm rolled to move up whenever I feel confident enough in my game though. I'll prob spend a few months adapting and talking to other regs/my coach to plug any glaring leaks while I make the transition. If I enjoy playing deep it will kinda change my plans but I'll move up according to my winrate, rather than my BR, this is about beating online poker while at Exeter, not really the money, that'll come when playing live over the summer

When you back in Exe, fancy a beer to start the year off?

Just played my first live session of the year as I'm visiting back home and headed down to the casino. It's only a 50p/50p game while is obviously lolsmall but it plays a bit bigger, I buy in 200bb deep (£100) and cashed out at £245 so I can't complain. Felt really good to get back onto the real felt and back where I belong. I'm probably going to put in a big weekend after a good sleep today, both live and online before the work really kicks off back at uni. At the end of the weekend I'll chuck any winnings I've made online to keep them out of my reach and also to unlock the TCOOP $22 ticket.

Live: Got whacked set over set 3rd hand and spent the rest of the night in a real grind, got up close to even at times but ended down £99, taken tonight off as I don't really have the working capital to play live right now so will play online instead. Going to deposit winnings from this weekend to get my $22 TCOOP deposit bonus ticket.

Online cash: Moved up to 10nl, playing 100bb instead of 250bb, seem to be getting stacks in more often which is a good thing! Had a bit of a downswing at 5nl before hand but felt I was playing ok so was happy to move up and get on with it!

Online sng/mtt: Just playing 235 6max hyper turbos to the Sunday Storm to use fpps, if anyone has a better use let me know! I have someone to sell t$ to for 1:1 but I tend to use them for the homegame I play in which holds tournaments every day. Done OK in the 235fpp games, but the same can't be said in the homegames so far. Just had the one cash so far this month but it was a 2nd for $22, not great but some points in the league at least

Villain is playing 15/12/10 over 183 hands.

PokerStars - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

MP: $9.88
CO: $10.91
Hero (BTN): $16.80
SB: $10.05
BB: $10.00
UTG: $16.82

SB posts SB $0.05, BB posts BB $0.10

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero has K A

fold, MP raises to $0.30, fold, Hero raises to $0.90, SB raises to $2.70, fold, fold, Hero calls $1.80

Villains 3b here could be a resteal given his high 3b% but I flat as I have position and hope to hit a decent flop and extract value from any c-bets

Flop: ($5.80, 2 players) 6 T K
SB bets $7.35 and is all-in

Villains overbet shove confuses me here, I don't think he would be doing this with any real value hand as he may take a more conventional bet size to extract value. Given his 3b pre there are a few underpairs 88-QQ (TT unlikely) that are in his range and I hold blockers to AA and KK so I think I'm calling here and expecting to be good a fair amount of the time. Thoughts?

Villain is a 61/3/0 over 31 hands

PokerStars - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

UTG: $9.13
CO: $13.89
Hero (BTN): $11.71
SB: $10.34
BB: $10.86

SB posts SB $0.05, BB posts BB $0.10

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero has Q K

UTG calls $0.10, fold, Hero raises to $0.40, fold, fold, UTG calls $0.30

Flop: ($0.95, 2 players) 8 T 3
UTG bets $0.10, Hero calls $0.10

Turn: ($1.15, 2 players) K
UTG bets $0.10, Hero calls $0.10

River: ($1.35, 2 players) K
UTG bets $2.40, Hero calls $2.40

Should I just fold to this kind of river aggression from such a passive player? Regardless of result is calling always going to be bad in the long run here?
