Thanks.

I'm currently living with my grandma sleeping in her spare bedroom. Once they closed the libraries due to covid I started coming over here during the days for the wifi and she offered to let me stay here until the pandemic is over. I think the fact that I don't smoke weed constantly helps. Also she is gone about half of the time and I'd be up here anyway taking care of her cats. My plan is to get a job and move out some time this year.

I'm playing poker on my laptop with an 11 year old 27 inch monitor hooked up to it. Going to buy a 32inch 4k monitor very soon so I can fit more tables on my screen.

I sold 20k worth of XLM and bought 20k worth of HOGE just now. So tomorrow XLM will probably go up and HOGE will probably go down lol. No but for real I feel like I bought at a nice dip today. Took me a while to figure out how to do it to the point that I felt confident actually doing it. I kind of feel like I should have bought more and went even riskier. HOGE: $0.00027. We'll see how it pans out. It's kind of cool because when you buy or sell it 1% gets burned up and 1% gets distributed to all wallets in proportion. So it's deflationary and you gain some just by having some. So even if the price remains the same I can still be profiting. We shall see how dumb I am in time.

I know, but he wouldn't be the first one to burn through 100k, would he? God bless Stu ungar, but there were many others. It's none of my business anyways, but Rick seems to be a good guy. And who am I going to argue with on this forum if he burns himself again? Also did it sadden me when he got banned. I though he never comes and then he came back with a bang. Plus this didn't make any sense to me.

Playing 500nl with 200bi is "very aggressive" ???

Lol. I knew that would come. That "very aggressive" was to the mtt part. I have no idea what the perfect formula for cash is these days. As a non cash game player I really have no excact idea. He's used to play nl200, not 500. For shots i think its alright. But hitting "brick walls" made me worried. What's the standard these days? 80-100bi is agressive? 200 conversative?
You will probably tell me 20bis is very agressive. I don't know if that applies to shot taking, but I would guess.

Tell me 20 bi is very aggressive. And I tell you one can lose half the br in one session if not all.

Anyways @ Rick, you should be having fun now, no brick walls involved. If you play, you should be playing stakes that can't do that to you. Peace and gl everyone.

There was a thread about optimal bank roll management in the poker theory subsection very recently.... Basically you just use kelly criterion.... which is a function of std dev and winrate to give you a good risk of ruin. You can look up the formula and input a risk of ruin you're acceptable with having... the one on pokerdope website gives a 5% risk of ruin probability.

There are a few people that make new accounts every month/two.

The monthly milly is easier than most $20 MTTs.

Thanks?

Hero HJ (covers) KK
Villain BB (11,545 chips) Ah2s

50/100 ante 10

UTG+2 opens to 250 we 3bet to 900 big blind calls and UTG+2 folds. Big blind is playing a 42/2 loose crazy style.

Flop (2190) Q76xhh

Villain jams 10,635 all-in and we call. Turn is a heart for the sweat and river blanks out. Off to a good start.

I stacked a guy with a set of 3s so I'm sitting with about 36k when this happens.

It's A Trap!

Hero CO (~36k) QQ
Villain UTG+1 (23k) AA

Blinds 350-700 ante 70

UTG opens to 2100 villain just calls, folds to us and we jam about 23k effective. The big blind calls for about 13k (he has TT) utg opener folds and the trap is sprung AA calls and wins a nice pot.

We double up next hand with A8>KT all in pre and win another pot with 99 and we're back to a starting stack. I'd prefer not to fire multiple bullets but I got the chamber full and I'm locked and loaded if need be. I'm player 284. If I somehow bink this tournament I'm pretty sure PGC needs to build me a statue.

Busted short of the money in the monthly milly, lost in other tourneys today too. No big deal. I'm thinking my time might be better served just researching different cryptos or stocks to invest in at this point. HOGE to the moon!!! $0.00039!!!! It's a game of hot potato, I got to try to get rid of it before it blows up in my face! But I got diamond hands!!!

Not gonna happen. If I lose too much I'll just quit and get a job before I go busto. I hate losing too much. And I think any real gambling on my part is stupid considering my money is better off just HODLing in crypto or stonks right now.

Thanks, lost a little bit today. Just felt like I hit a brickwall. Ran poorly at 500nl and played a bunch of tourneys last Sunday cashing very few of them. Overall I'm still way up obviously but I think I need to fire off fewer tourneys and just focus on grinding cash and just playing a few tourneys here and there.

I had about 200 buy-ins when I binked the monthly milly in January, so even then I wasn't really being aggressive. 200+ buy-ins for MTTs is conservative. 100+ buy-ins for cash games is conservative. But yeah I'm just taking some shots here and there and having fun playing.

Yeah I want a risk of ruin near 0%. We all know how often 5% hits having played poker long enough. It's too real. I wouldn't accept a 5% risk of ruin at this stage of my life.

Happy Easter folks! I'm not dead or broke yet just been playing a lot of Hunt Showdown and not much poker. Winning that tournament is a blessing and a curse because it's hard to stay motivated knowing that I can't expect to win that much probably the rest of the year. Definitely more of a blessing though lol. Also having a small losing streak also dampens my motivation, that's probably the bigger problem.

And I'm starting to work out and run more. Hot sunny weather really helps. Bought a pull up bar/dip station and some free weights and a mat. Results so far are good.

I'm looking for jobs right now. I need something to occupy my time better. I have a diverse skill set so finding a job shouldn't be too hard. I can do carpentry, general construction, commercial driver's license, bus driving, very strong math. There's a lot of jobs I'm seeing that are like engineering aid/assistant that don't require a college degree, but I should also go back to college too. I'm an idiot for failing out. I also used to be really good at computer programming, not sure if I could get back into that. In high school I remember in my AP Comp Sci. class I was sitting in the back of class playing flash browser games while my teacher was giving a lesson. My friend Tom was watching me play and the teacher interrupted us to tell Tom to stop watching me play games. I always thought that was funny. What a loser I am, 34 year old man reminiscing about high school.

Good Ole Ace High

Hero BTN (17,757 chips) AcKx
Villain CO (33,680 chips) 98os

Blinds 250-500 50 ante

Villain opens to 1k we 3bet to 3k and only villain calls.

Flop (7900) 652xcc

Villain checks we bet 2k and villain check raises to 6500 and we rip it in for 14,757 total and villain calls. Ace high holds and we win. 3bet jamming too light there or what? Would you rather have the ace of clubs or not?

It's been so long. Does anyone still use C++ and Java? I definitely have an aptitude, I got 2nd place in some programming competition (I forget the name of it) when I was a sophomore in high school. Programming came pretty easy to me. Maybe I'll do that, thanks.
