Lil’ bit bout me :

My name is Wojtek and I come from Poland. You can find me on Stars tables under name Relicto. I’ve been playing poker for 5 years. Most of this time as a recreational player. In that period i played about 6k games, mostly SNG’s MTT’s and Sats, managing to stay on positive side of graph. So that’s good I guess. I know, for 5 year of play my numbers are quite low but word recreational should explain it all.

Achievements :

There is not much of them. As we all know from time to time even recreational player can bing something. So my biggest scores are as follows : WCOOP sat $11 -> $215, couple of small regional tournaments ($5 buy-in and lower), 3rd place in PS Dream Job tourney.

What I’m up too :

To put that in right words I have to explain one thing. Even though I have 5 years of experience in poker lately I found out that ,my knowledge of game theory and many concepts of it is awfully low. Don’t get this wrong I get the importance of position, starting hand ranges and etc. Thing is, when you want to play it more seriously you have to put some more time into it. To play GOOD POKER. That is my goal, to learn, understand and finally play some good poker.

Where to start :

About week ago I cashed out $100, bought some books, and prepare my set up which is basically laptop and side monitor 19” :

So that’s my work place. Now my daily plan is to read some books, play poker and study my game. First book on my path is Colin Moshman – Sit’n go strategy.

I’m starting with $10,01 (lucky penny of course). For this month my progress tree looks a bit like :
$10 – > $70 mostly $0.25 45 man (no MTTs)
$70 – > $100 $1 45 man (still no MTTs)
$100 – > end of month $1 45 man, $1,50 f50 Turbo(just for vpps), $1,10 1000cap, $1,10 $2,5K GTD at midnight + couple of regional micro sats for Polish players.

That’s it :

I’m going to post some graphs, thoughts, and hands every 3rd or 4th day. Let’s hope it will all work out.

Cheers

PS.
I’m sorry for every grammar mistake

Maybe 40 buy-ins seems like not much, but at $0.25 players are crazy and equity is flying all over table. So i think it's all right

#Days 1 – 5

So far so bad :

My plan was to play quite hard for 3 days and use Day 4 and 5 as time to learn. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I played for three days, but not as much as I would like to. Poker Gods were quite kind to me for first two days. I ended up with ROI over 35% which gave me profit over $2. Then came day 3. I stared session early and it was all going fine until … FT, Bubble

Question is simple : what should i do on turn (shove, call, or maybe bet flop)??

Now it's time for the rest :

After what happened i was kind of sad but mostly angry at myself so i took a little break on day 4 to clear my mind. Today i spent visiting my family and after all i played only 4 tourneys.

      Results :

      $0,25 / count : 46 / ITM : 26,09% / ROI : 25,57% /

      Till next time :

Thing that i need the most right now is to be confident in what i'm doing. Try'n to do that, tomorrow i'm gonna work with Tracker and Wizard. Who knows maybe i'm gonna post some hands

      #Days 6 – 9

      So far so good :

After disappointing start and only $2 of profit, I did as i said. I took a little break and read two chapters (so far) of Moshman's book. After that I spent some time with my Hand History to see where i should make changes.
To be fair it worked quite well. Not only with money results but mainly with my game. I feel a lot more comfortable at tables. Now i know what, how and when to play. It gives me a lot more motivation to work harder and to learn more.
Now I have to put some more time to work on 4/3 handed play and on art form also known as Heads-up.

      Results :

      $0,25 / count : 71 / ITM : 25,35% / ROI : 56,96% / Profit : $10,11

      And :

Now i still have some non poker related work to do but hopefully i will be done with it by saturday so i can finally put on some volume.

      PS :

      #Days 10 – 12

      Confidence is the key :

Last three days went quite fast. I didn’t play much but again I took some of my time to improve my game. As I said in last post I was very much in need of quality heads-up and 3/4 handed material to learn from. So at first I finally finished Colin Moshman book which is a very good read btw. I recommend it to any beginner. It’s very well done as all. Easy to read and understand. So that was my first injection of late stage game knowledge. After that I turned to articles made by “brt01” who is MTT SNG player at low/micro stakes. I found there some crucial concepts on final table play. Lastly I searched the almighty internet for exact HU videos.
I’m not sure if it was because of the knowledge that I’ve gain but I won 3 tournaments in row, play’n 3 great HU battles. By great I mean : felt confident, played according to my opponent tendencies.

      Results :

      $0,25 / count : 101 / ITM : 26,73% / ROI : 80,71% / Profit : $20,38

      Overall :

Yes there is overall this time (cuz i "broke" my no MTT rule by play'n Chrome Star Freeroll). Played two of them, cashed once for $0,95.

      Total Profit : $21,33

Little thought at the end :

Last time I pointed out my volume problems. Doing the math, after 12 days I played only a little over 8 tourneys per day. So this I'm going to change that by doing Volume Week. More details later

      Cheers

Unfortunately i went mental. I'm not gonna explain what exactly happened. I can only say that i tried to play MTTs not suitable for my bankroll. My biggest defect won with me, again. After that I was quite disappointed with myself ...

any way i took some off time to collect my thoughts and now I'm back, restarting my challenge at $25

I set myself some ground rules this time :
      1. Think, work on and write only about another step
      2. Huge "No" for long term plans
      3. Update every day
      4. Don't even think going mental again

      Goal #1 :
      $25 -> $50
      $0,25 45 man

      It's time for my Redemption

      # Day 1 of Redemption

Again the best word to sum up this session will be "mental" but this time it wasn't me. In first hand my AA got cracked. At some point out of 8 tables I was on 3k+ stack on 4/5 of them. I thought it will all be fine but ... 2 outers, 3 outers, runner runners and all the fireworks you can imagine ....

      Count : 16 / ITM : 6.25% / ROI : -44,50% / Profit : -$1,78

Good Luck! You are doing well, just stay focused and keep at it! When are you planning to move up to .50's? Or are you goign to skip them because they are turbos?

I found they are pretty profitable if your push/fold game is good since most will fold too much or call too wide.

Plus they have the added bonus of lasting only about an hour so you can get a lot of volume in.

I have to admin honestly that I went mental again. Fortunately enough this time I didn't play one tourney for all my money.

I know that my sample of $0,25 games was little but my expectations were quite high. We all know that not every day is good or break even day. Somehow I couldn't process this fact. So every single day I was expecting to cash in 25% of my tournaments and for my ROI to be around +/-50%. Idiotic ... I know (now ). After all I was also sick of playing only with 50/7 guys. So .....

I took down 3 SundayPL sats for $22 each. Couple of other smaller tournaments with buy-ins between $1 and $4. Then I decided to concentrate on UKIPT Isle of Man sats and BOOM ... 2nd place and 85GBP in one of them. That took my bankroll to $180+

After that I decided to cashed out some of it, leaving behind nice and round $100.

That was another of my failures (this time with happy ending)

Probably I'm gonna start new thread ... Probably :P Right now I'm quite sure what I want to do and how I want to do it (I said that last two times so that might be a bad sign )
