Hey all!
I am a 21 year old student from the Netherlands, and in this thread I want to track my poker progress. I have dabbled in 2NL and 5NL before, and after playing for a couple of months I was doing fairly well. My stupid ass thought that I am a poker god, and that I should deposit $750 and play full ring 25NL zoom with 30 buyins to try and make some side income. The results of this you can see here:
As you can see the sample size isn't that large, but I was getting absolutely smoked and I ran like god to just break even (I lost a buyin but I got $25 in rakeback from these hands). I guess I should be happy that I got a 'free' life lesson.
Even though the sample size is small it probably is the case that I am not nearly good enough to beat 25NL. Also, I don't think I am mentally capable to play 25NL just yet. I wasn't thinking of losing in terms of big blinds or buyins, but rather as dollars. Losing 2 buyins in a session is not too uncommon and should not affect me much, but realizing that it's $50 surely made me feel kinda bad.
Because of all of these reasons I have decided to withdraw part of my $750 roll, and start with $300 at 10NL instead. The reason that I am not starting at 2NL or 5NL is because I have played these stakes before and (marginally) beaten it before. I would like to see how I do at 10NL and I will move down if I find that it is too difficult.
I am not sure what I want to do in terms of BRM, taking shots, moving up, etc.. At this point I just want to focus on getting good enough to beat 10NL over a sample of ~50K hands. If I am able to do this, I will think about taking a shot at 25NL!
If you want to know more about me feel free to ask! I will try to update my progress in this thread regularly.
