2NL to Busto? 2NL to Busto?

Hey all,

After screwing around with poker for a bit I have decided to commit to studying the game properly and improving myself.

I will be starting with a bankroll of $75 and start out at 2NL. I won't set a monetary goal as I do not know where I am in terms of skill, and I would rather just focus on getting better at the game. I could quite easily deposit more money and start at higher stakes to attempt to make more money, but I would gain more happiness from proving to myself that I can get better, beat the stakes and move up gradually.

I will try to play 1200 hands a day and post regular updates in this thread. Also, I will try to focus on my mental game since I have had a history of tilting off buyins by moving up after a couple of bad beats. To make sure I don't mess this up I have set table restrictions on Pokerstars.

If you have any questions I will be glad to answer them.

Cheers!

Jeeeeeeez pretty insane start on day 1.. Went on an insane stretch of getting absolutely destroyed and was feeling pretty down. Managed to pick it up at the end and ended the session up 2 buyins. Definitely not the prettiest way to do it but I'll take it.

Fair enough, you can tell I'm a newbie not used to much.. I will probably endure worse very soon so I should get ready for it

I actually started one last month but it was right before some important exams so couldn't put in the hours required (didn't think that one through). Decided to start a "fresh" one for that reason.

Alright, it seems I can not edit the post above so a new one.
Played 1600 hands today and it went quite smoothly.

Bankroll: 81,64

Red line is pretty bad.. Some people say that it's normal at the micros but I guess there must be a way to improve it. I think I might be cbet bluffing dry boards with too large bets (usually around 70% of pot). Maybe I should tone it down to 40-50% since people will call both bet amounts with the same range of hands anyway. What do you guys think? I usually end up shutting down on the turn unless it's a card which improves my hand/adds some outs/is a scarecard, so I lose a decent amount from the flop cbet every time.

Alright so there was a problem with the bluetooth settings on my laptop so I had to do a system restore. Downloaded my hand history from Pokerstars onto a USB stick, imported them after restoring my laptop and somehow it only imported 200 hands. Not sure what happened but my database is gone. It's good that I had only played around 5k hands on it so I will start over with a bankroll of $80.

Hey guys. Back for another update. Have not updated the thread in a while but will continue. As stated in post 8 I had to start again due to having to do a system restore on my laptop, and I started with $70. After playing about 8.5k hands at 2NL I made $20, which put my bankroll at $90. I was beating it for 11.2bb/100 during this time. Here's my 2NL graph:

I could have grinded 2NL a bit more to make sure that I am indeed beating the limit, but I was feeling good and decided to take a 5NL shot with 4 buyins (i.e: the profit I made at 2NL). If I lose those 4 buyins I will go back to 2NL and rinse and repeat.
So far I have played 2k hands at 5NL and managed to win almost 2 buyins. I will just continue on 5NL until I drop back to $70 and move down to 2NL.

Here is my 5NL graph so far (lol sample size):

Current bankroll: $97.51

Alright, quick update with my whole graph. 5NL is going well so far! Haven't changed my playstyle when compared to 2NL. Similar stats as well although it is a small sample. I will post some positional stats when I have a bigger sample so that we can find some leaks.

Fish on a heater going strong!

5NL winrate 15.12bb/100 over 3k hands

Bankroll: $110.37

Alright guys, pretty bad couple of sessions later we are back to our starting point
Lost about 8 buyins at 5NL today. Ran 4 buyins below EV there so it's probably quite normal variance. Also got it in with KK vs AA twice.

I have to admit that it got to me at the end, and I probably spewed 2 stacks at 5NL. Then moved back to 2NL which also didn't go too well, and I got a bit tilted.

In my tilted state I then used my 700 starcoins on a $7 spin & go ticket and I won the spin & go for a x6 multiplier...
This puts my balance back to $105 and I will probably just count it as part of my bankroll and continue on 5NL.

I really need to focus on tilt management. Fortunately the dollar amounts aren't that high yet but if I ever want to move up the stakes I have to make sure I keep my mental game in check.
Maybe I should set a 3 buyin stop-loss.. What do you guys think of this? Do you also incorporate it in your sessions?

Here is the total graph:

Current bankroll: $105.62
