On a more serious note, I'm a student playing poker because I love the game, the mental games of it, the money, the decision making, etc. I don't really need the money (I mean who does, if they grind NL10?), but I "want" it. I want to be able to successfully beat NL25, and later when I turn 21, I feel this should be sufficient to enable me to crush live cash games and maybe actually make decent money. (Intending to finish school though for sure)
I made this post because I feel posting HH's on Tumblr probably wasn't being received by my non-poker playing friends. So hopefully I can get some support/input/criticism/anything here!

Backstory:
Started when I was like 16.


Fast forward to when I'm 17, the same friend needs cash IRL so he asks me if I want Full Tilt money for real life money.


After school, I started reading books in the bookstore about poker. In particular, I learned a lot from the Harrington on Holdem series.

I found Rush poker. Grinded 1 table of NL5.
So fast forward some more to this year, a friend of mine has been hosting 10 dollar sit n go tournaments at his dorm. I decide, you know what? Hand 1 is played pretty poorly:

Your flop is fine, but honestly you can probably get a cbet out of a bunch of hands by xraising.

Your turn play is goot obviously, although $1.50 would probably be better.

On the river, you're play is excessively strong. Your range will already look very strong for going 3 streets on a flush and paired board. B/f $2.90 > C/F > C/C > B/C > overbet > c.

Hand 2: Cbet the flop readless. You're setting yourself up for alot of good barreling opportunities. I think turn is pretty close and read dependant. Against a aggressive opponent I suppose you have to call, but tbh I'd rather call turn fold river as I don't think opponents at 10nl are going to be able to follow through on a river bet often enough as a bluff.

Hand 3: Clear b/f the turn, but you already knew that.

Hand 1 - I just don't think I can ever bet fold with pot to stack ratios can I? If I bet 2.90 it's going to be about 5 to call a pot of over 15. Getting 3 to 1 plus the thing is he NEVER raised on the flop or turn, so how likely is it that he has a set?
The reason I went for the overbet is I feel if he flatted the flop and turn, his hand probably is some medium pair or maybe A4, with Ah. And I believe if he had a weak hand like 8x he wasn't calling a third barrel anyway, so I chose to make it big. Is this logic sensible?
But actually yeah you are probably right. Didn't take into account the strength of my 3 barrel. I just don't think 25 hands though is good enough to fold this getting 3 to 1...

Hand 2: Isn't that a bad cbet board? Even though it's paired it hits a ton of the suited connectors in his range.
Also is KQ high not good enough to check? Or should I have A high? IDK, I don't think even Ace high is folding here normally, so I don't think I can make worse hands fold with my KQ. And does he ever take this line with KJ?

Hand 1: Well, he's never shoving a hand with showdown value as a bluff, which means if he raises you on the river he's going to have a better flush or a boat. Honestly, exploit people by b/f'ing up to the point where they're exploiting you. Which they never will be. I'd be very comfortable bet/folding a 6 high flush here even getting 3 to 1 on a call given the ranges.

Regarding the bet size: Give him a chance to put you on a busted straight draw and call w/ 78, 89, 99, TT, A8, whatever. Not that likely but hey, it can happen.

Hand 2: You'll still see a ton of folds from low pocket pairs, and have good barreling opportunities. I'd probably be firing most turn cards. KQ-high is not going to be good enough to call even a single turn bet most likely, which means I'm probably not checking it back.

Had an ok session today. Ran under EV, as usual. >_>
