I will be shipping my stuff an flying
Because my friend can't get out of work.

Playin borgata 1m guarantee tomorrow and down in Ac all week.

Binking 100k would make life nice I think. Here's to run good.

If you can change your mind, drive to Vegas with your car. Take your time and see a few things. It'll be a brilliant experience.

good luck with the move Rob, just be smart with your money out there.

pheww finally made it to the end of the thread! really cool to see the progress you made as a player as it progressed, and the writing actually improved also! excited to hear how vegas goes, got a good feeling that if you stay focused and manage your money well you'll have a great experience and a profitable one at that.

Great decision to stay committed to a healthy lifestyle, i think thats huge. just finished my last semester as a college athlete and I made a similar promise to myself. its easy to say you'll put off the workout till tomorrow bc you got to get this session in, but thats just a cop out. its not easy to sit for 8+ hrs at the tables when your unhealthy as all hell.

you going to be at FW at all before you leave. I go to school in CT and usually make it out some weekends when i can borrow a car.

Probably won't be at Foxwoods again.

GTL I saw you walking around Borg today and woulda said hey but was in a hand and then lost you.

If you told me about that Woodbridge thing a month or so ago I would of considered it. Sounds awesome.

Sorry I never got the chance to meet you. That night when you were with jpsychlady I was stuck in the lounge. I had several guests there and they would've been forced to leave with me.

Tournaments are the Devil
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGCTFwlXTo0

Why do I play these things again? I'm not bankrolled properly although I sell a good chunk of action, they are just incredibly frustrating.

I played 2 tournaments this week in AC and bricked both in disgusting fashion.

In Borgata's 1M guaranteed I bricked a big pot vs one of these tourney go-hards with AQcc vs QJss aipf a few hours into the tournament. This is after I got overflushed twice and had to fold a set when a one-liner came on the river and a fish led into me after c/c big bets twice. Gross.

I stood up and mustered a "good luck guys" when the J hit the turn as I walked downstairs to grind cash knowing that you have to run pretty hot to do good in these things. First place was 300k+, wouldn't that of been nice

I really wanted to fire a second bullet in the 1m but I was battling the flu all week. I hate New Jersey so much .

After I busted day one, I toughed out a long cash session where I was sneezing and just generally feeling very sick. The line was probably over an hour long that night and I just went back to my room at Harrahs (around 9pm, slept for like 12 hours) to sleep and hopefully wake up early enough to avoid the line tommorow. Woke up at 8:30, tournament starts at 11. Sold out by 9. Whoops.

I'm done with tournaments until the summer. Too much soul crushing variance and people running hotter than the sun under the impression they are God's gift to poker. I wish I won flips.

Cash

In all honesty I was running pretty bad in my cash game sessions as well, this coupled with how sick I was all week and the fact that I had to take a bus because my car is in the shop made my trip less than enjoyable.

Even though I was sick I met up with fellow chat-thread reg dhcg and got him absolutely hammered at Borgata which was funny. Get better at drinking imo. Traded stories about girls and drank a good bit after our sessions were over. Had a late dinner with him, KyddDynamite and and met some Pittsburgh people, cool guys.

I think I played pretty good. I folded a set against a level one player but I'm kind of unsure about the fold now, in-game I kind of just had a sense I was beat and folded.

A guy I started a conversation with who told me he owns a bunch of math centers in New Jersey. It's sort of creepy but I like googling some of these guys. It's a habit I devoloped when working in multi-million dollar homes for AT&T and wondering what the hell these guys do for work. One guy was the right hand man to the CEO of pepsi which is pretty baller.

As far as poker is concerned, it's funny to see people's pictures on the internet where they are wearing suits advertising their professionalism and expensive college degrees. When I meet them they are usually drinking beers in full degen mode. The tale of two cities.

Math fish raises to 25 in MP. Both players are very, very passive and check calley. I call the BTN with 66. Limper calls too. Me and math guy are fairly deep, I have 800 or so and he covers me.

(80) K 10 2
Checks to me and I check back.

(80) K 10 2 6
UTG Leads 20 and math guy makes it 60. I cold call and limper folds.

(200) K 10 2 6 A

Now before everyone thinks I'm some weak tight fish. I cannot imagine this guy ever playing AK like this. I understand the "wtf" factor of live poker and this guys line is really, really, wierd. It will be AK some % of the time but I always think that this turn line is more nutty than just top pair.

He bets 200 OTR and I fold. I do not think that my set is good here 33% of the time. Might be wrong but against a passive player like this I don't think he will take this line on the flop or turn. It could even be a QJ that whiffed a checkraise on the flop as well. Basically the only hand we beat is AK and imo it's not AK 33% of the time.

I didn't play any 5/10 and won't for a while. Unfortunately I have been getting hammered with expenses lately and my bankroll is a lot smaller than i'de like it to be going to Vegas. Trying to figure out how the hell I've spent 25k in the past year. New years resolution to nit up more.

Decided to fly to Vegas and ship all my stuff. Plan to nit up is failing already.

ugh. More wasted time. I'm just done with them. I'm fortunate enough to be able to get backing kind of easy but it just doesn't make sense financially unless it's something really full of value (borgata 1m with 4k entrants is a shining example).

No DSE events for me

I suck so much lol.

I remember thinking there is literally no hands that should call me here. Kid snap calls I think second nut straight lol. Yes we had no history which makes it bad from both of us. Def the biggest pot I've played at 2/5. That pot alone was a decent 2/5 bankroll lol, he must suck.

Shoving 200bb pre against that girl with QQ was worse though imo...

That kid called over the iceman to check out the pot too while I'm just sitting there like .

Hey rob this thread is amazing and inspiring. I was hoping you could touch on some of the points regarding transitioning from 25nl online to 2/5 live...I have now just began to feel comfortable at 25nl and I feel fully comfortable at live 1/2 or 2/3

I want to jump into the 3/5 at the local casino but the max is 1k instead of 500 so it's a little intimating going from $25 buy in to $1000

I have taken shots at 50nl and don't feel out of place either but for some reason live 2/5 or 3/5 keeps me away

For the record my poker br is completely separate from life br I have a good paying job and I only use poker profit for booze and Vegas trips

I should be out in Vegas at least once during the time you are there if I see you Id love to grab a drink or just say hi

Good luck out there partner
