I finally had that "aha" moment where I'm way better. Anyone else greatly improve suddenly? I finally had that "aha" moment where I'm way better. Anyone else greatly improve suddenly?

I've been playing online and at some live tournaments seriously for around 7 years. I've been pretty much a mediocre player with some ups and downs. If there was no rake I would probably have been just even for both online and live.

Basically I played in the style of Alan Kessler but maybe even tighter at times but then open up and get loose at sometimes the wrong time. I was basically also playing either slightly too tight or slightly too loose at different points in a tournament.

So I went to a WPT mini bootcamp (2 hours) that was focused on tournament play. I really enjoyed what I learned and tried putting some of it into practice right away. I was playing in live tournaments with a tough group but felt some marginal improvement.

Fast forward to now almost a month later and I now realize that I'm a much different player. I aggressively put pressure on in certain spots, steal lots of pots, buy pots, scare some opponents. I actually feel that playing this way feels "safer" than just tightening right up. I am usually above the # of starting chips within the first orbit and I stay that way.

So I think I've hit my "aha" moment. For years I was stubborn and liked my tighter style but now I'm done with that.

Has anyone else here done something or learned something that made them hit that level where they went from "bad" to "good"?
