Hey guys. I'm a low stakes HUSNG player. I've always struggled in every aspect really, and I'm first to admit, I'm not very good. I recently took 2nd in a HUMTT for 2.3k, a great boost to my roll. Then I decided I'd try to learn HU cash. Then I lost a few buy ins, and gave up on that idea, back to the trusty ole HUSNG's, with a plan. I am going to play 1250 turbo HUSNG's, first at $15s until I beat them, then at $30s, then at $60s.

I'm going to use this thread to track my progress, and keep me motivated as I grind towards my goal. I'm entering senior collage next year, and would like to make 15-20k, which would be fantastic for a currently broke student

Goals
17th-23rd October
[] 100+ $15 turbos
[] 2 strategy videos
[] 1 mental video
[] Ride bike 4x
[] Organise a coaching session

15th-31st October
[] 220+ $15/30 turbos

15th October-31st December 2011
[] 1250 HUSNG's
[] $1000+ profit
[] Beat $15s
[] Beat $30s
[] Beat $60s
[] Get <70kgs
[] Regular study through videos and HH discussions
[] Get 7 leakfinders/coaching sessions

Will keep this regularly updated with updates on my goals.

Ur setting a goal with a monatery targed which is not very good. You should be setting goals like "I'm going to play 1250 hu sng and play everyhand as well as I can to see how I do.". When you set targets which have a monatery target it is easy to get put on tilt when your plan isn't going well and that will not end well. Poker is a game of high variance especially HU turbo sng's. All you can do in poker is play ur best and play every hand the way which is going to make u the most profit in the long run based on the information u have. Setting monatey targets will add presure and casue u to stray from what should be your real goal; make the right decision as many times as possible. Don't worry about the result just focus on makeing the play which is going to make u the most money in the long run based on the info u have

Aware, but that's only a couple of the goals I don't have complete control over, but do want to complete.

Gl with this thread as well, I really hope you stick to this one for your sake. 1250 games is going to be a tough effort but it's definitely an achievable goal so good luck mate.

I will stick with this one, nothing but heads up SNGs/tourneys until the end of this year.

Just did some calcs, I've gotta play about 17 games a day, which = about 3 hrs per day. I probably won't be able to get that type of volume in through the first 5 weeks of this semester (leading up to exams) but aftter that and in the hols I should smash this goal.

Update - day 3/78

So, I'm 3 days in ATM. Volume is low, but that's OK, no pressure yet, but obviously I can't fall too far behind.

So far I've played 33/1250 games, 15 behind the pace. Not up for a big update atm, but I'm up for putting in some volume!

Going to start warming up for my sessions by either watching a strategy video or reviewing previously recorded footage of my game.

ok, then what criteria will you be using to determine whether you are beating a level?

Whenever I'm happy that I'm beating a level and comfortable moving up, I will. I basically don't have to worry about BRM until I withdraw a decent amount, lose a decent amount, or spend a ton on coaching.

Started out on a bit of a downswing which sucks, and my volumes been really bad. So far I'm at 36/100 games for the week, so I need 64 games on the weekend, about 11.5hrs of play (12 hrs or so with the small waiting times). Going to take the rest of tonight off to study a vid, but will be up early tomorrow to get on the grind.

Started out the week running bad, ended it running good, started sitting some fish in $30/60, obv won 1/7 at higher stakes, go me!

Graph includes 2 supers, won a $15, lost a $7.

Had to grind hard on the weekend to achieve this, but I'm proud that I managed it.

Upping my goals next week, going to structure more study time.

[] Warm up before every session
[] 110 HUSNG's
[] 1 HUMTT
[] 1 strategy video
[] 1 mental video
[] Ride bike 5x
[] Read 20 mins/day

Bit tired atm so calling it a day early.

Just making a quick update, I've been trying to mindlessly grind volume, which just doesn't work in HUSNG, so I'm trying to work on focusing hard and concentrating on each decision. Even if my volume decreases, I'll earn a lot more $, especially in the long term, and improve a ton more.

Good luck dude. Im doing a similar goal playing the 30s atm. I def agree with your comments on mindlessly grinding volume. After all playing HUSNGs you aren't getting much rakeback so volume alone isnt what matters, its good focused volume that counts.

Remember that if you win 18 of 30 games on avg is 15% roi whilst winning 17 of 30 is like 8.7% roi and 16 of 30 is like 2% roi. Taking that tiny bit more time to properly think through every decision might mean you win 1 game you otherwise would have lost and that 1 game has a massive difference to your long term win rate. Thinking about that actually helped me a lot and makes me tilt less as i remind myself that throwing away 1 game throughout the whole day makes such a difference to your overall success.

30 regs or turbos? I decided I'm going to start sitting the $30 reg speeds now, and I'll just open sit, don't mind playing regs cus I need to learn to beat them long term to make money in this poker climate.

Whats ur sn, I'll look out for you.

I play the turbos. Yeah i have the same thoughts on open sitting, plus i usually find that when i sharkscope a fish someone else beats me to playing them. Although when i play late and not many people on i'll search everyone as in the middle of the night they're either a decent and dedicated player or a possibly drunk fish.

My sn is very very similar to my one here, if u see me u'll recognise it for sure.

I can't understand the ' beating reg's ' subject. Why don't you guys put money in soft servers and look for fish population. This give you bigger roi and less variance. There is no reason to play at pokerstars if we assume husng has best profit/rake ratio ? Right?

Gl on your challenge sir!

Meh I wanna reg 100-200 next year, and 300+ in 12-15 months, so I have to learn to play regs.
