End of the month update:

Profit/Loss: ($530)
$/Hour: ($4.40)

1/3: $2890 in 82 hours
2/5: ($4725) in 27 hours
5/5: 1305 in 12 hours

So basically a break even month, just the bad kind of break even. I know I made some really big mistakes in deep pots throughout the month, I hope I can keep those in mind and not make them again this month. I also know I ran really bad in some big pots at 2/5 (I buy-in for 2k avg) but oh well what can I do, I'm sure I ran good in some spots too. Irrelevant, why did I even mention it? Oh, I wanted sympathy i'm sure... haha

Something I noticed for July is that I had a lot of hands saved in my phone but I didn't post them. I think part of me figured I knew the best line for ALL those hands and didn't need to post it after reviewing them my self. I know I don't and could have benefited from some discussion.

May, June, and July have all been losing months for me [June and July (~2.1k) May (~1.3k)] but I am feeling really motivated to improve. I finished MGOP and will be looking to apply the things I learned this month and just try to play the best I can. I have also been working on some basic math here and there for a week now so I will post up some problems and solutions and just stuff I learn in general. I intuitively know the math but I want to actually have a solid mathematical foundation.

I only have a few goals this month:
[]Complete 10 hours of off table study (math)
[]Post HH after every session and read/answer ONE everyday (I read a lot of them but I rarely post)
[]Make good decisions on the table, limit the stupid ones lol
At this point I don't even care about the money, I'm ready to just do my best. This long losing stretch is toughing me up.

Oh and I registered for a $220 Buy-in tournament for this Saturday! About 30-40 people should sign up.
Result based goal:
[]Run good and bink it!

Had a pretty good session last night, it was a very high variance (was on the good side of it for once) because of a maniac on the table. $50 preflop blind on BTN straddles, or PFR with about 80% of his hands. It was interesting because I had position on him and we got into a lot of weird spots. I waited all night playing tighter than usual, and doing things like l/rr (when I later moved seats due to a read on the table and the maniac ran out of money and I found another loose player that was deep).

One of my lighter stack offs vs him:

HERO UTG+1 $1900 AT
Maniac BTN $440

Villain BTN straddles to $25, fold, HERO calls, 3-4 callers, Villain bets $50 more, HERO raises to $250, everyone folds, villain calls.

FLOP ($600): 234
HERO goes all-in, villain calls.

Villain opens 65

TURN: 5

RIVER: brick

Almost! but oh well.

This next hand was a lot tougher just because of how weak my hand is and I wasn't sure if I should raise because I know his bluffs have so much equity vs my hand. But I had to let him barrel off because that's what he likes to do. And we were both deep so the big stack is always a threat on the next street.

HERO HJ $2200 64
Villain MP (one seat in between us) $1800

folds to villain, villain raises to $25, HERO calls, SB calls.

FLOP: ($80) 884
Villain bets $135, HERO calls, SB folds.

The big overbet makes it hard to call, I know he is capable of betting a 8 like that to "protect it" since I have been busting him up, and his image is bad so I am kind of scared to call because he knows his image is bad. I am not going to like any turns because overs and flushes will really suck for me.

TURN: ($350) T
Villain grabs a handful of green chips and bets $375, HERO calls.

So I don't like the T because there are just any kind of hands he could have like KT JT but I knew that when I called the flop. And now I have back door flush outs to worry about and counterfeit outs. I am hoping he won't barrel the river and don't think he will because he is a maniac but a weak one, idk how to explain it, he doesn't have heart for a triple is what I was thinking.

RIVER: ($1100) Q
Villain checks, HERO checks.

I was kind of sick OTR because he checked so I thought he may have hit the T or Q but definitely not going to bet it in this spot.

Villain shows 75

I guess I ran pretty damm good in that hand. Probably should fold the flop next time.

Ok so I just had another break even month of poker.... till the last day of the month where I dropped 4k.. yuck. Playing deep stack is a lot of variance and I don't have the dicipline to follow good brm and just buy in for $500 when I see stacks of $5k (most of them are good players but there is that one guy that is destined to spew with 3k+ sitting).

Anyway, that leaves me with a net loss of about $7k for the last 3 months. I don't even want to complain about bad beats and I'm going to blame myself 100% for the results (ok, can I please at least complain about a runner runner for a 3k+ pot? ). I'm so mad/discouraged about my recent run that I am more motivated than I have ever been to get better and figure out what I am doing wrong. Idk if I can do it on my own quickly (since I haven't been doing so), so I think I'll try some live poker podcasts I've been hearing about in the other threads. I'm pretty sure there arn't any coaches in my area and my close friend is V1 as far as I am concerned so I am going to be a hungry lone wolf.

I have a little over $5k in a rubber band and I am gonna try and grind my way back. I was going to move down to 1/3 but I have day job money in the bank so i'll take a risk as I don't want to grind the live micros forever and my grind time is limited.

I think my approach from here on out will be "back to the basics" I feel like my mental state is deteriorating. One thing I noticed is that in the past few sessions I had a weird "numb" to losses feeling wise. Doesn't seem healthy as I'm sure I am supposed to feel like pucnching something after something sick. Maybe I'm getting sick.

Edit: I guess another thing I should do is post more ITT.. its hard to do when your constantly on a downswing but I have to balance my posting range.

What worked for me after a massive losing month was getting my head of poker and doing something else until I was healed. Find a hobby etc. I know what you mean about being numb to losing, that's a recipe to lose money.

Can't be too proud to play 1/3 IMO. I play 1/3 pretty regularly and anytime I sit at that table it is to focus and make money... have to be a stone cold V crusher with whatever is in front of you.

I think I should take a break for a while, I have been playing everynight. I was in a hurry to "get the money back". Just gotta relax and play better.

And yeah I will still be playing 1/3 regardless, what I meant was excluding my self from 2/5.

Thanks for the advice though, definitely a tough spot to be but I want to get through it and bounce back.

Had a decent session at 1/3, coolered a guy for 100bb's and got coolerd back but ended up making a small profit. Not too many interesting spots.

Played 2/5 yesterday and made a spewy mistake in the first 10 minutes at the table. I 5-bet bluff a nit-reg from the SB vs CO after I squeezed a whale's call in between. Shiped AQ into AA. :banghead:

Tightend up a bit after that with my ****ty image and waited to get paid with big hands. Had to fold big preflop hands on the turn a few times after putting bets in which was tilting and the session was not looking good. Two hands that were kind of interesting later in the night. At the time of both of these hands I was in the game for $2k so people paying attention do know im down.

Not sure of the suits on this hand but I don't think it matters much:

Villain is very aggro IP and likes to put players to the test. Bets hard when shown weakness.

HAND 1:

HERO SB $1400 KK
V1 $1700

BTN straddle for $10, HERO raises to $40, V1 raises to $135, HERO raises to $320, V1 calls.

FLOP ($640): A96

HERO checks, V1checks.

So of course the sicko card on the flop. I was going to bet the flop because AK makes up a large portion of my range, but decided nothing good can come of it. All the hands that fold I got them drawing slim anyway.

TURN: 4

Check, check

RIVER: 3

HERO checks, V1 bets $600, HERO calls.

V1 opens 88
Idk if im supposed to be happy about the hand, its just a sucky spot.

HAND 2:

AVG stack is about $1500+. Only 1 stack is 100bb somewhere.

HERO HJ $1800 76
V2 UTG $2300
V3 CO $1500

BTN straddle to $10, 2 callers, V2 calls, HERO calls, CO calls, BTN checks.

FLOP ($60) K69

Checks to HERO, HERO bets $40, CO calls, UTG raises to $140, HERO calls, CO calls.

So this was the part I wasn't sure what I should do. I would by default raise-get it in OTF if given the opportunity with a hand like this. However with such deep stacks (now that I look at it, stradlle should cut effective stacks considerably). The bet was so small that I figured I can just hit my flush, of course I dont really want the CO in with me as I could be drawing dead if I hit. I wanted to iso because I may behind from a made hand vs UTG and also have an inferior draw vs the CO.

TURN ($480) 9

UTG bets $140, HERO calls, CO tank sigh folds.

Same thing, not a good card for my draw. Weird sizing almost induced some spazz from me.

RIVER ($760) 9

UTG bets $550, HERO folds.

I'm not sure if a K bets here considering it was a limped pot pre. So it has to be a 9 or AA. I guess I saved money result wise by not being aggro on the flop result wise.
