I decided to make this post to give me some motivation to put in some volume to try and make a little extra money. I have been playing online poker since 2002 when I was 16. But never made money and pretty much sucked online and offline. I would deliver pizzas all day and go to my ex brother-in-laws home games and more often than not lose all the money I made. Somehow I thought I was a good player and that I was just very unlucky to lose 19 out of 20 sessions.

Eventually I actually worked on my game and managed to mostly be a break even player by around 2007. I was fine with being a break even player as poker was just mostly a fun hobby for me. Started to get a little bit better and started playing on full tilt and being a little more serious a few years later. Built up my bankroll to about $3,000 after a year of pretty casual play. Cashed out 2/3rds of it and went on a cruise and had a very relaxing time. Came back and was motivated to pay for more vacations and such in the future with poker.

Then all of a sudden black friday happened. I know that lots of poker players lost a lot more than what I did on full tilt, but it was still a pretty hard hit for me to lose the couple thousand I had on there. I decided I was done with online poker.

Fast forward to the end of last month and I was looking around and found that there were actually a couple networks that still dealt with US players. I deposited $1,000 onto lock poker and decided to mess around in the $28 hyper turbo HUSNG's. Did pretty decent for myself and decided to deposit $800 more so I had a bankroll of $2,000 to start playing the $40's.

TL;DR : I use to suck at poker but got sick of losing, got to be average, full tilt stole money, giving online poker another chance, wanted to make this post for motivation to push myself.

Here are my numbers and SS graph so far for the past couple weeks. I understand its nothing amazing and I know that I am far from good, but I am hoping to change that with hard work and studying.

Good luck - hope it goes well. You seem to have learnt the game so keep focussed and work hard and you'll get the rewards. My top tip would be to learn how to play against a variety of opponents as your strategy will change slightly according to the villain's playing style - especially when trying to exploit the fish!!

I am currently having a problem against regs. I am trying to adjust to each opponent but I agree that it is the biggest leak I have at the moment. Thanks very much for the good luck wishes, if I can be half as successful as you have been I would be very happy!

Today is about to get cut really short as I have a storm coming through. Which sucks because I had been running bad and just started playing and running good about an hour ago and felt like I was in the zone and won 4 in a row.

Worked on my game and studied some more and I am happy with where I am at since just barely starting to learn the heads up game. Dont have to make a profit everyday to be +ev for the day imo.

I am thinking about depositing another $500 and taking a shot at the 50's with around a50 BI roll. From the SS graphs I have seen from the $50 players it seems like the level of play really jumps up just with that $10 difference. I dont know if I have the confidence yet and am thinking just to tought it out at the $40's and earn my way up.

Storm is almost passed so I am gonna risk it and play a little more tonight. Hope to get in quite a few more games as long as I dont get tilted like I always do.

I really really really really need to work on not tilting. Although I usually stop before I start tilting off my bankroll, I still have the problem of ending sessions WAYYY to early simply because I am starting to get pissed off that lady luck loves to kick me in the nuts. Another 3 buy ins below ev put me at running 11 below ev for the last 26 games.

Just got off work and I am going to take tonight off and just read the forums, watch a few husng videos, and go through some of my hand histories.

I have the next 3 days off so my goal is to play around 400 games in that time. Which I don't think is to bad considering I am still 1 tabling. Might 2 table the 28's for a bit for practice. Going to try and focus on not tilting and keep playing through even if I am starting to have a losing session. Also going to take a shot at the new $8,000 Guaranteed HU, $55 + 5 buyin tournament, if it is up tomorrow. Just have to realize its not a hyper turbo and to adjust to being deep stacked!

Played the tourney and won 4 in a row before bubbling! Standard for me.
Obviously hurt my goals on games for the day but will hopefully pick up and at least play some.
