The type of house that you would expect someone at the very top of their profession to easily be able to afford. Spacious, large lot, outstanding location..$10,000,000+. Something much nicer than Negreanu's house.

If you're making $40k/year at poker, you're in the top 1% for sure. That $40k/year is equivalent to an average level desk job in the western world, and it requires like 50 times the effort and mental resilience, not to mention AI/bots getting better every year and your income could be wiped out instantly from any number of external events (eg. Black Friday, SNE grinders from a few years ago). Not worth it these days, that's for sure. I'm surprised OP is so intent on being a poker pro. I guess he plays mainly live, which is somewhat different.

Taxi driver
Bus driver
Call center employee

Top plumber, if you exclude guys running their own business with employees earning for them, would probably be in a location which pays premium dollar eg. oil rig, mines, maybe big hotel or resort builds etc.

Would probably pay pretty nice money, like I guess $130K plus kangaroo bucks. Tradies earn decent coin in Australia even just doing household jobs.

We're talking about the biggest money makers in THE WORLD in a professional position. There was a dentist here in Dallas with a $25 million estate (ie 29k sq ft, 4 acres, 17 full baths, indoor basketball court, water park etc), Compare that to Daniel Negreanu who essentially has a middle class house with a couple extra bells and whistles....and he probably makes a lot more from sponsorships etc than he does on the felt.

Why would you exclude them? Isn't that part of what puts you on top of that industry? Like, if I'm the highest earning foundation repair guy in the world it's not because I'm really good at turning a jack. It's because I have teams and systems setup to allow me to do a ton of projects. I knew a real estate agent that would sell ~400 homes a year. No single person can sell 400 homes in a year. He had a team working for him to get all the work done.

Hell, even the top sports bettor in the world had a team working for him. (albeit I believe he's currently in jail)

And few are worse about that than poker players. My point wasn't that we should be aspiring to make a ridiculous amount of money. My point is that the ceiling in poker is low..it's EXTREMELY low relative to other industries. And today the competition to get to the top in poker is far greater than what you'll face in other industries.

Seems to be way too much interest in OP's GF...the implications she's a gold digger are ridiculous as I've said before. Who attaches themselves to borderline broke jobless poker players for money? Of course it's possible OP has overstated his "wealth" and she has no idea how close to busto he is but considering this already happened and he took a shark interest loan it's hard to believe she would think OP is flush.

And if that's why she's with him...whatever. If OP gets nothing from the relationship he doesn't have to continue it, and it doesn't make a woman villainous to enjoy a gift or nice dinner every now and then.
