I had just left Rio to head home from a date. She called me at 11:01pm and asked me if I was heading toward Mandalay Bay. I said "no I'm heading over toward Wynn, why?" "There has been a shooting there." My first assumption was that it was just some kind of isolated personal dispute that somehow escalated to gunfire. I got off the phone and checked Twitter. I clicked on the first video, I instantly recognized automatic gunfire and my heart sank as I realized that this event was much worse and there would be massive casualties.
I didn't get very far, eastbound Flamingo was blocked off and I was stuck on the I15 overpass. I saw multitudes of cop cars flying south on the I15 and LV Blvd, dozens of ambulances en route. 10 min later I see an armada of unmarked cop cars with lights flashing along with SWAT vehicles sailing south on the I15. I see 4 helicopters circling ground zero. I'm in complete shock, how could this happen in my city?
I first texted my dad back in CA to let him know that there had been a horrible shooting but inform him I wasn't there at the time. I exchanged messages with many of my friends in LV and some friends from out of town checking in with me. Twitter is saturated with unconfirmed threats at numerous Strip casinos, but the credible sources seemed to only verify Mandalay Bay...
This is a night I'll never forget.
I'm not usually one to get emotional but this attack hit home. There is no reason it couldn't have been me standing in that crowd shoulder to shoulder, snatched in an instant from this Earth by a cold calculated murderer.
I identify with this city where I have spent half my adult life, I identify with those innocent victims, I stood on that exact ground.
I can't even conceptualize the magnitude of pain and anguish inflicted, it is incomprehensible. There is no logical explaination for this suffering...
I went to the memorial site and left these artifacts along with a candle and a private note to the departed. They are all my family forever.
Sheet music and tabs from Lamb of God, I went to a show they played with Slipknot in Las Vegas Village summer 2015
My friend Ryan and my dad at Las Vegas Village for the rock n roll marathon Nov 2015
An old players card used at Mandalay Bay
Kid Rock playing Las Vegas Village before the 2015 rock n roll marathon kicks off

Awesome vid. Next time you Zion, do Angel's Landing for sure. You probably realize this but in your vid from 4:11 to 4:13 ish, you're looking at the final leg of that hike.
Wish I could've seen it from Observation Point as well but didn't have time for all the stuff.

I hiked angels landing last year, it was slightly more technical with the chains to hold onto when scurrying up the last section but 500 ft less elevation gain than observation point. There are still a bunch of trails in Zion I have yet to explore so I'm sure I'll be back.
Went to the Art Museum, got back to LV last night, I'll drop a few vids from the trip when I get a chance
I had a great experience at LACMA. They had a large Michelangelo exhibit passing through at the time of my visit. Have you ever been to the Getty? The architectural layout of that place is astounding.
Hope you are having a fabulous trip, which looks to be the case.
Testing out the embedded tweet function, looks legit.

I haven't been to Getty, I'll have to put that on my list for next time I'm in LA. Yeah the trip was a blast, nice quick recharge.
