Interesting comments as ever regarding general health etc. I got a sketchy plan in the back of my mind for this bet. I'm 27 and I've always played football (despite being slightly out of shape for the last few years), so my general health/fitness/recovery is better than you'd think (apart from my hamstrings being made of chocolate). Like I say I've got a timeline in the back of my mind, need to get working at it!

I admire the grind but think you are drawing stone dead on playing conference level football if you are 27 years old now.

I dont think I have ever heard of a club taking on an unknown player who is nearly 30.

It really depends on who he knows, it's possible if he's able to convince someone to give him a run out in a friendly game (does this count?) but to actually play in a competitive conference fixture will be much harder.

I have a good friend who has played for Braintree/Eastleigh and now currently at Boreham wood in the conference. Is it against the terms of the bet if gaz pays a club like 5-10k for 5 minutes of football? Some of the smaller clubs in the division would probably take you up on this.

Even if you played at a really good level when you was younger (Scottish pro football academies) you're still a huge dog (bigger than 20-1 in my opinion) to get some game time in the conference. Mostly due to age and being out of football for such a long time.

All for it, although I know in my heart of hearts it won't happen. We will once again be ****ed over by the older generation who don't have the ability to question and do research on what the BBC tells them, the masses upon masses of Rangers who worship the queen (don't get me started I ****ing haaaaaate the British monarchy), people who read newspapers that start with the word "Daily", people who turned their back on the poor and needy last time because "I don't like Alec Salmond" etc etc etc. Scotland would thrive as an independent nation, but unfortunately we are a nation of gullible idiots and don't deserve our independence if the majority can't see through the sheer lies of people like Kezia Dugdale, Ruth Cameron, Alistair Darling, Theresa May etc etc.

I fully understand why you might think that, but I don't think that'll be the obstacle here. The obstacle is getting fit and healthy to a level that I can play at conference. Plenty of teams will be holding open trials etc when the time's right, so that won't be the issue (the issue will be not having a Dominos every 4 days for a whole year haha)

Hahaha read that story before. Also a great Le Tissier story is when he bet that there'd be a throw in in the first minute of a game he was playing in once. He tried to blooter it out straight from kick off but someone kept it in and he had to chase em down and batter it out the park! Classic.

Also I think it's really important to say that I am going to give this aaaaabsolutely everything I have. The first week has seen a decent effort, but very soon I'll be going like a bat out of hell for it. If I give this absolutely everything and fail, two good things will come from it. First of all I'll finally be in a better physical condition and secondly, and more importantly, I won't tell my kids in 10 years that I could've made it but loved sweet and sour chicken from the Chinese too much; I'll have no ragrets.



I played zero poker today. Instead I went out and bought some new shoes, some new football boots and I got my roommate Elliot a cake and a Chelsea top for his birthday tomorrow. Me and Smit lit the candles and I shouted him into the kitchen saying there was something wrong with the cooker and he came in and we sang happy birthday to him like we were all ****ing six years old. It's nice to be nice.
