I'm making another one of these threads.. All of my goal threads have failed sadly.. I wasn't committed.. and I was also bad. I'm committed now. I feel like the goal threads may have put pressure on myself, and if so I need to get over it.


I will be grinding my bankroll from $70 to $200. I'm setting a more realistic goal. I expect to achieve this by the end of the month. I need to average around $6 a day to achieve this.

I have been reading all of the COTWs.. They have helped me so much. I'm now putting in winning sessions because I'm getting value where I used to not get value.. and I had a very bad habit of calling 3bets with pocket pairs. I would also play 22-66 in EP too often.


Hopefully I won't kill this thread by stopping. I feel committed.. I know I'm committed.


I will play around 2k hands per day.. I will sometimes have 4k day sessions. I'm really looking forward to moving up to 10nl. Once I grind to $200, I will think about moving up to 10nl. I want to have maybe $250-$300 just to be sure.

nice volume, try reading some strategy on bluffing, floating, double barrelling etc work on your red line / win rate

GL...I also started from 4NL this month...

I put in a short session and played bad. I'm back to $57.. had KK vs AK AIPF and lost.. I broke a big rule.. Don't play poker when tired. I should have a great session today

I'm down to $45, but I'm basically being staked.. I'm gonna grind up to $80 and I'll be on my way.. had some very bad coolers Hit my set and the river made a 1 card straight.. =( (didnt fill up ) also had KK vs AA.. which I'm starting to have enough hands that I can fold KK to SOME villains.. I haven't folded yet but there are just a few (3 or 4) that I will fold to for now.

what is 4nl????? cash a tournament, it doesnt make sense?

sorry I haven't updated.. I went on a good heater..

I made a Royal Flush and another bonus.. I got $40 from bonuses

and my roll is now at $146.07

I paid my friend back.. so I'm staked all by myself..
I reset my PT3 database.. I added back hands for reads on my opponents, but completely removed my own.. so I have only 2k hands in my DB.. +$21

So I played a few sessions today.. I did really well.. Somehow I'm still above EV despite so many coolers.. I had 3 big sessions.. one +$12, the second one -$2, the third and last one I finished +$16..

1st one I was stacking a bunch of drunk people at night.. It was standard..

My 2nd session was the huge cooler session.. I actually had a pot where I was headsup vs a guy with $10 effective stacks at 4nl.. I stacked him.. So I was at one point up like $16.. then I had several coolers.. like..

1. Turn Top Two Pair.. AI OTT vs a guy with a set of Jacks. He flatted on the button =( I didn't put it in his range but I need to get better at that.. (-$4)

2. I flop TPTK on K32 with a backdoor flush & straight draw.. I turn the nut flush draw with AKhh.. I triple barrel.. He ends up having a set of deuces.. (-$4)

3. Flop is AA7.. I have TT.. We check to turn.. I have Tens Full of Aces.. We are all in on the turn.. He has AJo.. He rivers a 7 to have Aces Full of Sevens to beat me.. Boat was counterfeit.. (-$3)

4. I flop an OESD.. I turn a straight.. The villain was very passive.. he ended up making a small bet OTR & I lost.. He had KJ on QJJKX I had T9 lol.. (-$2)


My last session was great.. I played great, and won $16

So my roll should be like $159, but I'm at $153..

I also haven't received my bankroll yet, so I should be ROUGHLY at $157 ($4 in rb)

I've been on a massive heater.. I'm above EV by a lot.. I believe $30 but that was from a 10nl hand.. AIPF KK vs AA and I hit a set.. so almost half was from that hand..

I've been playing 4nl with 1-2 tables of 10nl mixed in.. I'm only playing tables with big fish and 30 vpip+ avg..

Yesterday I was +$20 at 10nl and like -$8 at 4nl..
Today I was -$5 at 10nl and +$30 at 4nl..

So I had some good results at both..

I used HoldemLuck to review my hands with AIEV.. and almost every hand was standard.. most hands were vs. 50bb short stacks that I sucked out on.. like having QQ on T5T5x board after I cbet and was pot committed OTT.. I hit a T on the river and had TTTQQ vs his TTT55.. (5 outer)
I can't wait for PT4 to have a more realistic stat based on luck. I definitely don't mind the money

If I were you, I would do half 4nl and half 10nl until you get 30 BI, then switch to full 10.

I had a bad session on the 2nd.. I finished down $18. I finished down $12 below EV =(

This sounds right, it is what I try and do when moving up. Doesn't have to be even split, but def start playing more 10NL until you are comfortably rolled for that level.

Next thread OP, add in more state of mind detail. Stats are great, a lot more hand posts would be great also, maybe try some decision point posts, stop the hand at flop or turn, something where a decision is made, leave off the rest of hand and change color on last detail line. Then ask for opinions on what to do, give your thoughts with reads and notes etc at that point.

Ask Bona for more info on how to set up those type of hand posts, they are really helpful.

Last Monday I had a very bad session.. I went for 10k hands for a $109 ticket..

I think I played this hand bad.. or maybe just an unfortunate hand? I rarely call when it's just the open raiser and the caller in this hand.. but since the SB called, I thought the implied odds would be better at least.. It's just an ugly situation.. I always get confused in these situations where I have top two pair.. and I have re-draw outs to a Full House.. I know it's fine to call all in on a 789sss flop with a set because I have re-draw outs for the board to pair.. but in two pair situations like this one, should I ever fold? It's such a wet board.. I'm not sure what other hands raise me other than flopped straights, sets, and other two pair hands.. sometimes people that like TPTK too much..

I cashed in two tournaments today.. +$50 for 7th.. +$5 in another small tourney.. I had a $40 session yesterday.. and then a +$13 session today.. then I took out $20 to buy some stuff..

With rakeback and all.. I'm now at $362 weeeeeeeeeeee
