Hey everyone,
I am a 20 year old poker player and am writing to be able to keep my motivation for the long term. I will be a junior at a large top tier college in the fall. I am currently interning for an investment bank this summer. However, knowing that poker is a legitimate career option for those who put the work in really deters me from wanting to do any normal job. Obviously I am not at that point yet, but thinking about working 50, 60 hour work weeks or more in finance is not what I want to be doing.
I have played poker for a while (playing freerolls in like middle school haha) but got more serious right before I turned 18 (because I can go to the Indian casinos by me). Regarding my live game, I have had pretty good success (about $4k profit in 30 casino trips). Online, I have been a breakeven player for the past two years. However, in the past few months I have really immersed myself into poker, specifically MTTs and am currently up about $1500 in online MTTs. I am playing 6max turbo SNGs everyday after work as well as studying A LOT. I am listening to two poker training videos everday to and from work. I am watching hand history reviews from the best pros and RUN IT UP when it is on. I am also reading Moorman's Book of Poker, which I have found to be awesome!
I do not really know exactly why I am doing this "blog," but I hope that it will keep me motivated in a few months if I lose motivation or go on a downswing. My main goal right now is to study as much as I can and grind as much as I can in the two months free I have after this internship ends. I have a $5k bankroll and just want to focus on getting better, as the results will keep coming.
Thanks
