Yea that's what i'm hoping for, and i need as much motivation as i can get at this point i think! Is going to be a tough year but if i have people following me, willing me on, i figured that would make it easier. I'm glad you like the changes I've made so far, i'll try and keep the blog, 2+2 and twitter updated as much as poss ty.

if your goal is Team Online id look into some soft tourneys as well
sometimes you read about a stars pro who final tabled one event or something
thats totally doable if you play a few tourneys a week, and it never will hurt your chances of becoming a team online member

just some random thoughts/advice
Yea they sure do, i've heard this in the past about tourney's. Tbh i don't really playing tourneys all that much, i'll probably throw in a Sunday Million or two every now and then but i'm not going to be setting any MTT schedule's. I figure I've put in a lot of effort and changes so far to try and get Stars Pro without having to change what games i play, and i if manage to keep these things updated all year long and they still don't want me then so be it ;( I'll just cry myself to sleep lol

Yea mate, i used to play all the time live, but probably not much for the last 2 years or so. I've played Broadway and Gala, mostly Broadway though and some local games, ventured to DuskTillDawn in Nottingham a few times as well. you? ty for the luck.

Not sure how serious you are with your gf but how does she feel about you basically putting your life on hold for this year to chase this goal? I imagine that you will have to do something like 8-9 hours/day 6 days a week so obviously you won't be able to have much of a social life. I would imagine your friends as well will be wanting you to hang out a lot more than you will have time for. Any worries about repercussions in those areas from your lack of free time?

6 days vs 5 days/week is a pretty big difference (although im not sure exactly what kinda hours mike is gonna have to put in so maybe he only needs 5/wk) and 8-9 hours playing poker is also pretty diff from 8-9 hours at a desk job. Also there is how people who don't really understand poker view it. I've had people who just don't understand that poker is actually my job and that although I do have a lot of freedom in when I play I can't always just blow off playing to go do things with them.

I do spend quite a bit of time with the gf atm, and i expect that will continue just not as much next year. We've talked about it all a ton and she knows the hours i need to play and sacrifices that need to be made, we both do. That being said, like i say in my blog at the bottom, one of my main goals is to get ahead of pace in the cold UK winter month's i.e Jan-April i want to get >100k VPP's per month here so that by May 1st i can be sitting on like 420k+ VPP. I'll then do the same in Oct+Nov, so that way i can have free time in the summer, go out with friends, see gf, maybe a short holiday or something.

Obviously this is very easy to say without having to do it all just yet, but i am planning it as well as i can so i can get some free time in the summer month's, i'll keep up my gym routine with my mate all year long though, plus at the gym i get to see a lot of my friends almost everyday anyway, as there's a big bunch of us that all train at the same place, like 10+ probably along with both my brother's. I'll probably post up a gym routine/log at some point before the New Year in my blog along with a poker routine so hopefully if i stick to them i will get some free time

Yea and when u think of it this way, if u include commute time for a normal job it's not that much esp when out of the winter months grinding routine. You also have to remember that playing poker 9 hours a day is much much tougher than working a std desk job 9 hours a day though, so we'll see what happens.

Yeah true, but I think if you have an understanding gf then it really shouldn't be too different to having a pretty intense ft job. Not that I've ever played that kind of volume.

Subbed, GL Dude, used to train at ironworks for years myself, was member number 68, joined the first week it opened, had to give it up when I took a drunken tumble down 3 flights of stairs at China Palace casino in Hurst Street trying to get to Mr Egg !!!

Hoping to do the same on Zoom this year, but just to Supernova, maybe 2014 will have a run at Elite, will be keeping a close eye on this thread to see how the emotions of a year long grind take its toll.

Again, good luck and keep us all informed.

glgl with this!

We've played a little before at zoom, but not much of note.

I put in a couple of 250k hand months last year (albeit not zoom), with a view to SNE and will seriously commend you if you manage to be at 400k vpp by May. It was a lot more draining than I envisaged.

tyty, yea i recognize ur SN from Stars and ssfr, well my highest volume month so far has been 135k hands lol So if i manage to put in 4x back to back >300k hand month's i will be extremely pleased with myself and think it will be all downhill from there. I figure i'll know if i'm going to be able to do it or not after the first couple months of solid grind.

any chance of hints or things worth studying to truly become a crusher, or anything special you did to start running like a god?

Thanks man, I definitely don't run like a god, I actually feel like like I've ran pretty poorly tbh, though decent at 100nl 50% of the time, pretty horribly at 200. The only things I can tell you are to study as much as possible, get a Skype group going with winning players and post as many hands as u can and reply to others that post also, between you consider other lines and change your hole cards and say ok, we've agreed we should play the hand this way, though what do we do if we have xx hand etc. it will come in time

Haha, fu!

U live in B'ham too? i haven't played there for a long, long time now, but yea the games are excellent, i used to know one of the 'regs' in the 1/2 game, obviously thought he was the best player to ever grace the felt, though in reality, online he'd probably break even at 10nl lol
