Hi there.

I've learnt so much reading here, so I think it's time to give something back. Little disclaimer: English is my second language, so don't expect to see a perfect written novel. I plan on writing a plain English.

Little background about me:

28 now, started to play poker ~8 years ago, from fixed Limit (#lolLimit) up to 10/20 to NL up to NL 200 to nowadays playing mainly mtts (up to $215) and 180s on stars. (up to $60) Always traveled a lot, most of the times through Thailand (Bangkok, Koh Tao & other Islands)
My experience for traveling the US: 2009 I flew to NY with some friends to NY for 5 days, followed by a 4 day trip to Atlantic City. In these 4 days I ran pretty well and discovered that live poker is a lot more fun here than it is in Europe. Very spontaneously, while my friends went home, I flew to Vegas. Forfeiting my return flight, I wasn't expecting the upcoming blast I would experience in the following ~ 75days. Yes, I stayed in Vegas for 2 and a half month. Had a great time, which you can sum up in: Great parties, great people, came with 5k and left with 30k.

My travel plans for now:

My journey starts on the 21st of October. From Berlin over Zurich to New York. Return flight on 8th November. Roundtrip for $608, with an emergency seat (Im a tall guy) ~$700, not that bad . With a cheap hotel (in new york a hotel for $100 is called cheap I think) for one night it's $800.

In NYC, on the 22nd I'm going to the Keens Steakhouse (click!). I've read some nice reviews about that place, so I'm really looking forward to that. 2009 we've eaten the most awesome steak of our lives in New York, so I hope to have a similar experience there. That's all for the daily planning for New York. After that I'm heading via train from NYC over Philadelphia to my first real destination, Atlantic City. There I'm staying at least until October 30th.

For that period of time I have a couple hotels. (4 to 5 star during the week, 3 star on the weekends) What comes next is according to my winnings and my mood. This TR could end in Miami, San Francisco, Nevada or somewhere else. Or maybe, if I like the games at the Borgata, I'm staying in AC for the Fall Poker Open. Who knows. Also, if you're here I would be happy to enjoy one or two or eighteen beers with some fellow 2+2ers.

The limits I want to play:

Start with 2/5 (5/5). If that works out well (10-15 BI up) maybe I try 5/10 for the first time of my life. Also if there are some good FL games I'll try the 10/20 or 20/40.

In this blog I plan to post exciting or difficult hands, discuss some of the local restaurants and post some pictures. (Shoes only if I go to Vegas, right? ) Mainly grinding and less partying. But this can change if I run good. Definitely want to leave with a lot of Dollars. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

This is it for now. Less than 24 hours until departing. I'm damn excited.

If you're not planning to spend any time in Philadelphia, consider taking a bus from New York to Atlantic City. It's much faster than the train, and cheaper. There are a few different bus lines, but I know the one called Lucky Streak drops you off directly at the casino hotels and doesn't make any other stops between NYC and AC.

Philly is a cool town though, so you may want to hang out for a day there before heading to Atlantic City.

Good luck, and have fun!!

Already booked a train, found some nice discount on a business class seat, like $55 for one way. I know that taking the bus is cheaper but I made some bad experience with greyhounds, wish I'd had knew about that lucky streak Bus. Oh well, who cares, 55 minutes until I'm one step closer to awesome USA!

Also only a 45 min layover in Philadelphia, so no time to visit something. But I'm almost sure I'll check it out on the way back to nyc (or JFK). Read a lot of blogs and posts about that parx casino, sounds very interesting.

Finally, a reliable WiFi.

Had a nice day in new York. Arrived, took a well needed shower and headed to the city, as written with no real plan.

Huge beat was that I've lost my camera a few weeks ago, so no impressive sight seeing pictures. But I think you all know the skyscrapers of new York. After some spicy Chinese food I found in a street I headed to an Irish pub. Sat at a bar, drank some beer and hoped for some people to join me. I've traveled a lot and this happens frequently. Sadly, not this time.

After that I felt really exhausted, went early to bed. On 6am I visited the breakfast cafe my hotel suggested me. Had the typical eggs and bacon, Standart. Funny thing is, after I've ordered an old guy is approaching me, asks if he may sit down. Haha sure why not. Truth is he was an ex German, who left at age of 6 in 1947 and never came back. Now he's a philosophy teacher. Had a really nice conversation with him. I love it when stuff like this happens.

Did nothing specific until my date with the steakhouse.

Well, I'm writing this right after it and my sad conclusion: I don't think I'm able to enjoy some Standart beefsteak in the future. Lol but seriously, this was the best beefsteak I've ever eaten . 11/10. Don't know of the credit goes to dry aged beef or Keens, but who cares.
For the sides, I had spinach and a baked potato. Very good, but not 10/10.
Dessert: New York cheesecake. Pretty awesome.

This evening I'm reaching AC. NY is fine and everything, but I'm really looking forward to play some poker right now I'm sitting in the Amtrak which had a 40 minute delay. Hopefully I catch my 2nd train.

What I don't understand is the boarding system. Seriously, 5 minutes before the train leaves the track is announce? 50 minutes staring at the big board of announcements with 2000 other travelers is just Lol. Is this due to security reasons the track announcement comes so late?

I'll upload some pictures once I'm on my computer in the Harrah`s

No spell check, forgive me

Edit: the reason the old guy came to me was that he knew exactly I am Germany due to listening to me. He could speak a very basic German, too. I obviously ordered in English, but I'm far away from native tongue.

Definitely looking forward to following this. After having played on both sides of the Atlantic I can definitely confirm live poker in North America is more fun.

However, I haven't done the Tri-State area yet, so looking forward to reading your experiences in that area!

2/5.

Coming back from smoking break, posting in the HJ. 9German guy in the US grinding live (first Location: AC) 5German guy in the US grinding live (first Location: AC) . 5 guys in the checked pot. Flop: 9German guy in the US grinding live (first Location: AC) 5German guy in the US grinding live (first Location: AC) 3German guy in the US grinding live (first Location: AC) . Checked to me, I make it 35. BU raises to 125. Folded to me. I call. He was a 30 something. We're 800 deep and I don't want to get it in this deep. Turn is a 6German guy in the US grinding live (first Location: AC) . I check, he bets 100. Less then his flopraise but very confident, so I'm sure I'm up against a set who feares the straight. I call. River is the A German guy in the US grinding live (first Location: AC). Gin! I check, he bets 160, after 2 minutes I raise to 400. Wanted to shove but was sure so he could lay down his set. He makes the agonized (now I'm sure he had 33) call, mhig.

I really have to get better at writing hand histories.

500 dollar high hand. Straddled. Bet turn. Everybody folds. Atm floor is figuring out if I'm eligible. But apparently there has been a dollar on the jackpot button. Wish me luck. Anybody know the exact rules?

Harrah's 1/2 because I'm very tired.

Hand is eligible for jackpot. 30min to endure to receive the 500 that 1/2 500 max game is surprisingly very nice. Minimum 100 but everyone is sitting with at least 300. Niveau NL 2 online.

Edit: beat by some straightflush, meh :/ but anyway, this table is printing money. It is really a lot more fishy than 2/5 at the borgata. And, me and 2 others are straddling, so 30 percent it's NL 400
