What's up guys and gals. A little bit about me/why I'm doing the challenge.

I'm a 20 year old college student here in Halifax. However I'm transferring to a new school next fall to play CIS football. I'm looking to play full time live poker as a source of income so I can have flexibility with my training/social life over the summer. I've had pretty decent success over an estimate of about 30 sessions over the past several months with 7K+ in profits.

The game I'll be playing is 1/2 NL with a max buy in of 200 min of 40. There's also a 2/5 game which runs with basically the same players who play regularly at 1/2 so I might take a few shots at that. For the rest of April I'll be playing on weekends until my co op job finishes up. then May, June July, and August i'll be playing at least 40 hrs/week. My current bankroll for the summer grind is $2,500. I realize 12 1/2 buyins isn't huge but It should definitely be enough.

I'll post after every session:
Hours played
profit/loss
overall profit/loss
an interesting hand from the session

I'll be playing this Friday, Saturday and Sunday to kick it off.

Cheers,

gl from London Ontario my friend, where do you/are you going to school?

I was a 1/2 reg at Casino Niagara for a summer and I think youre bankroll should suffice just fine as long as you have a decent grasp on poker and don't get too out of line aggressive, as im sure you've realized, you'll be surrounded by fish haha.

also make sure you time your sessions well. Don't be afraid to play friday/saturday nights for the big whales. We'd all rather be partying, but sacrificing some nights to work will come with great long term reward, and if you wanna make some good, untaxed cash, that will be a big source.

once again gl

Thanks! I'm finishing off my second year at Dal and am headed to Mount Allison in the fall. I've never played past 12am on weekends, but I'll be living closer to the casino in the summer so I will definitely take the advice and sacrifice some nights of partying for the opportunity at some easier $$.

Cheers

You've got a good return rate so far, especially at 1/2. Is that 7k all from playing at this same casino? I assume you are going for 10k additional profit over the next 4 months, not including the original 2.5k. Seems doable at the rate you're going, though not a trivial task. Do you know what the rake is where you are playing? Is this money for living expenses as well? Good luck out there man

Cool, def looking forward to following this blog. I should be swinging through the Maritime casinos around late May/early June, so maybe I'll run into you then.

GL!

Thanks man, appreciate it. Yeah the 7k is from 1/2 playing weekends over the past 3 months or so. ~4k went to paying off my visa, advanced rent for the summer and other miscellaneous things so I'm left with the 2.5k. The only additional expenses i'll have for the summer will be for booze, groceries, maybe some new clothes. All of which I have money in my bank account for.

the rake is 10% up to a maximum of $5 dollars. $1 going to bad beat jackpot I believe, which is at like $85,000 right now.

pretty rattled right not still. but ill explain the session in 2 hands which sums it up.

hand 1.
I straddle. utg1 makes it 15. 3 callers. I look down at 53 and usuallly I instafold but with 68 in thr pot and 10 go I call. pots now 78. flop is 532. I lead out for 45 and get 1 caller. turns a 10. I bet 75. same guy calls. river is a 3 and I bet my remaining 105. he calls and I win a nice pot. stacks now 522 after rake is taken out.

hand 2.
utg2 raises to 10 mp1 calls mp2 calls Co calls and I'm on button with KK. I 3bet to 65. folds to mp2 who calls. co folds. flop comes 682. mp2 checks I bet 115 and mp2 goes all in for 160 (45 more) I call. turn comes 10. river a 4. mp2 flips over 68 for a flopped two pair. naturally I'm a bit tilted but then..

she goes " I called because I dont like you calling 15 preflop with 53" referring to previous handd. lol. I was 10x as tilted now and just said "good logic" and brushed it off. atleast tried to. dwindled down to 180. realized I was still pissed and just left before I lost the 180 I had left. would this piss anyone else off? mostly the comment.

lost 20
