So here we are in yet another thread. No different than any other "I'm taking my roll to go be a poker pro" thread. I'm hopping a flight, taking all the cash I have with me, gonna sit in whatever poker game I can find, then I'm gonna grind. Grind hard, grind long, grind true. I'm going to log stupid amounts of hours, push my game to the limit, win lots of monies. That's it! What more is there than that?

Spoiler:
There's nothing more than that LDO. We play poker, to take maney

For the time being there will be no poker playing, just getting ready to leave. I haven't decided on a destination yet, but I have narrowed the field to a couple of places. Las Vegas is the standard choice, but I'm considering Miami/Ft Lauderdale and Pittsburgh too. I'll need to be somewhere with games that run 24/7, with a good bit of variety. I'm looking to play at least three thousand profitable hours by year's end, so it'll be a task for sure. I've got plenty of bankroll behind me, a good amount of experience, and drive (drive is important).

I'll update when there is more to say. Ideas? Throw them out there!

Have gotten all the details sorted out. I'll be headed to Las Vegas on March 1 to get on the grind. Also have a short trip to Florida planned in March as well. Will be playing mostly NLHE, but will definitely hop into PLO games too. Rolled for $2/$5 with all my expenses paid thru the end of May. Should be interesting, for March my goal is to play 330 hours. Hoping to average $20/hr across all games.

I'm playing with 30. I've found after building up over time that 20 can get a bit thin at times, though I' don't have any need to draw from my roll for a few months.

$2000 is enough to play $1/$2 with. Buy in for like 50-60BB at first, to work on getting used to the feel of the games you're playing in. As your roll grows, you are comfortable with things, start buying in full.

I'd check out Florida if you can. I know that the WPT is going to be in Tampa right after you are in Vegas. Should be good for cash games. Then Jacksonville BestBet is hosting a tournament through most of April, always amazing games down there. Shoot me a message when you're in town.

Pushed back the move-out date a few days to fit in seeing a bunch of friends. Haven't played any poker this month yet, but get into Vegas tomorrow morning. Will be fresh, focused, ready to play.

Played my first session this afternoon. Hadn't planned on playing, just had some free time. Went well, though I caught myself being slightly unfocused twice. Nothing untold happened though, only misplayed one hand. Will be playing in another hour or so again.

@ $1/$2 NLHE: 3 hours played, $103 profit
@ $2/$5 NLHE: 0 hours, $0 profit

I chose Las Vegas to play in. I was considering Pittsburgh over AC due to the quality of living.

Played another session of $1/$2 NLHE, things went okay. Also played a daily tournament, but got coolered. I am content with the way I played. A few hands that were significant...

$1/$2 NLHE 9 handed

Villain ($173)
MP1 ($92)
Hero MP2 ($158): 63

2 folds, Villain (UTG+1) limps, MP1 limps, Hero limps, CO limps, SB completes, BB checks

Flop ($10): 547

4 check, Hero bets $7, 3 fold, Villain calls ($7), MP1 calls $7

Turn ($29):T

2 check, Hero bets $19, Villain raises to $45, 1 fold, Hero calls

River ($118): 2

Villain goes all-in, Hero calls

Spoiler:
Villain has 68 and wins $316

$1/$2 NLHE 9 Handed

Hero UTG: AK effective stacks $111

Hero raises to $10, UTG+1 calls, Villain raises to $33, 6 fold, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls

Flop ($97): K82

Hero jams, UTG+1 calls, Villain folds

Turn ($253): 5
River ($253): 4

Spoiler:
UTG+1 shows 88 and wins $253

Besides those hands things were standard. I didn't play any trash hands, used aggression well, didn't make marginal calls.

@ $1/$2 NLHE: 6hrs10mins Profit -$47
@ $2/$5 NLHE: 0hrs Profit $0
Tournaments: 1 played Profit -$50

Thanks! I've played around 2 million hands online lifetime. I didn't have anyway to (or know about) tracking software the first 8-10 months I started playing. I happened to find the old FTR forum by chance. I won a couple of thousand in freerolls back in 2006, then just went from there. I did have about four years of casual play in databases spread over two laptops, but they both crashed. One 14 months ago, the other in January. I was up around $32-$34k online lifetime. I have made more playing live though, as that's where my focus has always been.

BeaT: can't play agin until Friday. Withdrew my roll from one account to put into a new one, but the check I deposited hasn't gone thru. Lesson learned; use a cashier's check, or cash (didn't want to walk around with, then open a new account with $15k in cash though)

Another session in the book. Played $2/$5 NLHE, then moved to $1/$2 after a bit. Stood up from the $2/$5 once I recognised half of the table from previous sessions. 5 other grinders were playing, plus two of them are regular $5/$10 players as well. Taking a quick nap, then going back to play later. Made, $343 at 2/5, lost $4 at $1/$2...

@ $1/$2 NLHE: 10.25hrs Profit $376
@ $2/$5 NLHE: 2hrs Profit $343
@ Tournaments: 1 played Profit -$50

Total: 12.40 hours, Profit $669

Cool thread man, doing the same as you but not starting til the start of April, good luck with this! I will be following this thread, you've said you want to play 330 hours of poker for this month so thats around 11hrs or so a day if you play everyday.Do you think you will be able to sustain those kind of hours?Have you put in those kind of hours before in a month playing live or online?Im not for a second dissing the idea of it im just curious as i plan on grinding between 160 to 200 hrs per month when i get started but if you can do it and sustain it,im definetly gonna have a re-think a try and get more hours in.

Congrats on your session as well so far today.....crush those tables when you get back playing later!!!!!!!!!!! glglglglglglglglgl!!!!!

Well, the journey is over. I did very, very well at poker but had a few days of lunacy which cost me my roll. Ended up playing 236 hours of poker, mainly $1/$2 NLHE (204 hours at $1/$2, 27 hours at $2/$5, and 5 hours of $5/$10). I averaged $53 an hour across all games; lost $1700 at $5/$10, won $428 at $2/$5, up $13,782 at $1/$2. Also won a couple of daily tournaments, none were for more than $700 though. I met a few people, confirmed that I can beat the games out here for lots of money, showed myself that I don't have what it takes to stay out of the pits. Don't know what's next, but I'll probably be back sometime soon.

I did get some nice comps for the blackjack play, but not enough to make up for not being able to play poker obviously
