I play HUSNGs on PokerStars. My #1 goal right now is to eliminate tilt. When I tilt, I tilt HARD! Yesterday I tilted over $2K (20 buyins) away in less than 3 hours

My biggest problem is when I start to tilt, I cant get myself to end the session, instead I keep playing and I play extremely bad, as bad as open jamming every single hand no matter what.

So I'm gonna try my best to just not do it. In the past I've made 3 threads in PG&C and they all started with "make $XXXX in XX days" and I failed all 3 cuz of tilt, so now the goal is to eliminate tilt or keep it to a minimum for 30 days, I'm don't care about how much I win or lose during the 30 days, as long as I play my best.

I'll try updating daily with a "Tilt Meter" going from 1-10 (1 being tilt free and 10 being extreme tilt) along with results (profit).

If any1 who used to tilt, but has overcome it, post some advice if u can, it would be greatly appreciated

Edit: Ill be playing $105 reg speed and $115 turbo HUSNGs during this challenge.

I still have problems with tilt, but the best thing I can suggest is having something you can fall back to if you begin to tilt. When I feel tilt coming I just stop playing poker and play some xbox, or go to the gym. Don't come back until your head is in the right place and you can play your best, even if it means taking a few days off.

Best of luck though!

Setting stop loss #'s is helpful for me. If I drop 5 bi's i quit for at least an hour, get away from the computer and do something else to get my mind off poker. If I come back and get down 10 bi's total I quit for the day.

You thought about getting coaching on the matter? If you can afford to tilt away 2K you can defnatley afford coaching.

The Problem is more to actually stop playing when you get tilted IMO, but I guess this is something you just have to force yourself to do.

DeucesCrackedn has a great audio series by Tommy Angelo that is helping me stay focused on playing better throughout my sessions.

JimmyLegs made a great series of videos on Cardrunners called Brain fail.
I highly recommend them. If that doesn't work try this:

+1 to MartL and Hanndy - The Tommy Angelo/ Wayne Lively combo is great!

Also have to recommend "the poker mindset" by Ian Taylor if you haven't already read this.

Best of luck.

Subscribed to this thread--I've observed a couple of your other threads and am conviced that you are my Stars equivalent / I am your FTP equivalent. Looks like you've moved up to 115s, however, while I'm stuck in 55s land. I have similar tilt issues and am also trying to focus on tilt right now. I'm not one capable of giving much good advice here, but you might want to try reading The Poker Mindset--I found it helpful. FWIW, ever since committing to ending tilt, I do seem to have made a decent amount of progress. My biggest things right now are declining rematches in situations where my ego begs me to do otherwise (I used to have a bad habit of almost never declining) and, as soon as I feel tilt setting in (which is actually pretty easy to do--I can literally "feel" it inside my head), take a few moments just to breathe and acknowledge to myself that I am on tilt--that seems to help my brain get the message to either stop tilting or stop playing

EDIT: One more thing--never noticed this in the past, but I think my play gets worse the longer I play in a session. I'm going to try to take more breaks, even if they're just a few min. long, especially between multiple games against one opponent, where you might be more primed to play a particular way against the next opponent that you should not

I do this alot aswell, I'm not sure why, I have a huge ego, and its costing a lot of money.

same here, I used to set daily volume goals, play X amount of games a day, and it made me play when I didn't feel like playing and my results suffered. Now I just try to play when Im in the mood to play and if I notice myself playing poorly I just ask myself, "Am I playing well", and if the answer is no, I stop, I dont always do this, but im workin on it!

The thing that really made me avoid tilt was not looking at my cash losses, but rather just keeping a score sheet of wins/losses for the day and trying to maximize that. I also set a winrate goal for x number of games. I find that if I am 5-8 for the day, it's like, w/e I'll win it back tomorrow, but if I'm down $40 (a lot for my BR), it might get me tilting.

gotta avoid results which can be difficult in HUSNGs. try to get your hands on a scrip that will allow you to reg for games w/o seeing your roll total, then just focus on playing solid poker for as much volume as you can. when a game ends, don't think about it as a win or loss, just reg for your next game or quit the session if it's time to.

also, the moment you feel your heart rate increase and start thinking "i can't believe J8o beat my AA!" just quit your session and go do something else. intense cardio exercise can be your best option as it can help promote a euphoric affect where "all is good".

best of luck.

Decent start, kinda misplayed a few hands and made a few bad hero calls and it ended up costing me the game and I decided to stop playing right away cuz I knew I wouldnt be able to play my best, took a short break, came back and played for a few hours and ended the session. prolly done for the day, bout to out for a bit.
