Hi all, ive been a long time reader here, but never yet posted, and lets be honest, there are many many poker goal threads, some absolutely brilliant, and some terrible. It struck me that all the thread creators seem to succeed at their given task, I haven’t seen a challenge thread that has failed in here yet.

So, to make a thread worthy of reading, this one could be the exception. My goal will be to make money at 6 max NLHE, I am not going to follow any of the normal restraints, and play what I want, when I want at the limits I want; within my financial limit.

Brief Poker History:

1 Played poker for 4 years online and 2 years live

2 Consistent losing player online, and winning player live

3 Biggest online score was $469, live was £3000 over a one month session of £1/£2

4 Have had DC membership for 3 months and watched countless tutorial videos

5 Have never beaten any NLHE 6 max cash game at any level online

Things You Need To Know About Me And The Challenge To Enjoy It:

1 I wont be observing any bank roll management whatsoever

2 My starting bankroll is $200 and ill add to it if I feel like it

3 I wont be reviewing my sessions to improve my play

4 I can promise my first session will be 2NL

5 I will move up and try different levels as and when I feel the need/get bored

6 I don’t know how to use my HEM2 software, in fact I just use it for graphs

7 I have Holdem Indicator for use at the tables and it works just fine, I sort of understand it

8 I will post graphs and interesting hands if I work out how to do it, I think I have

9 I am 36 years old and have a successful I.T career

10 I live in Marylebone, London, England

11 I play on Pokerstars

12 I dont mind losing the money <--important bit

So, as you can see this is playing poker for the fun of playing poker and trying to beat other players at quite a few different levels.

Yes im probably doomed to failure, but I cannot sit and grind myself stupid over 2NL for a year when what I really want to do, is probably what most of you want to do, and that is throw some money down and play cards…and ENJOY IT.

I have probably missed out loads of stuff, so just think of this as a work in progress, get involved, post some thoughts….and remember...what grows together….goes together!

First graphs and interesting stuff to come soon!

GL!

OK, first small session of 2NL, about 200 hands, I forgot to mention I only 4 table, none of this 20 table stuff, that would mash my head in about 15 minutes.

Hands: 200
Profit: $1.54
BB/100:39.29

Bankroll $201.54

gl m8, 2NL is very irritating to play, but just keep making volume and the profit will come No need to 20-table, just play 4-6 tables, so you can spend more time observing other opponents

will follow this one!

Good luck, i somehow fit into the same style of game you play, whenever i get the chance to play, kind of recreational player, and would like to follow up with your challenge.

Hi Milson, yes I know what you mean, it is irritating to play, but with 4 tables I do tend to observe opponents much more closely, I dont like to over complicate things too much, 3 colours for tight, reg, and loose/fish; I dont need any more.

Hi MTL, glad to have you on board, I hope its interesting enough for you. I need to find some hand conversion tools to spice up the flow

Hey all, had another small session @ 2nl, as you can see from the graph below it didnt go too well, I didnt do anything massively wrong here, one hand I couldnt let go of AK on a 47A 10 Q board to the river and the villain was 80/80 (wtf) over 6 hands and he turned over Q7.

The other hand I had AQ on a 2KQ A 10 board and the villain was 11/11 over 19 hands so with the King out there on the flop I guess it would have been possible to make the laydown but with two pair he could have had KQ or less so many times!

This one went better, you know when you sit back and look whats going on at these micro stakes tables you can really see how robotic the players are; especially when you dont have 20 tables on the go yourself..floating flops on late position raises are a goldmine it seems..

Anyway here is the hand of the session and below that the graph..

Here is the latest graph, another winning session which is nice, were now at around 600 hands in, its funny some people will do 600 hands in 10 minutes, it takes me a couple of hours! I definitely am noticing more playing like this, and have tagged a few ridiculously bad players to find again in the future.

Anyway back to just over break even, onwards and upwards..

Another session in the green, im not sure what to make of the new HEM2 graphs, I think I preferred the brutality of the green line of HEM1 to be honest, its all toned down biscuits and tea in HEM2 isnt it?

I think im going to try some NL5 soon, look out for that if you are following!

Drop in and say hi if you have any comments or questions...gotta pump this up..

Hi all, time for another update. I have now played around 1200 hands at NL2, the total graph so far is below, and its totally uninspiring! (Even though I made a few cents profit..)

So, time to have a go at NL5 and see how we go...stay tuned!...if that doesnt work then ill try say NL50

Its true. I was unemployed for a month and played at the Vic on Edgware Road and had 12 winning sessions and one losing session. I paid my mortgage for that month using my winnings.

Then I got another job and have not been back so much, however I now live really close so will probably start up again. In fact I may go tonight...

Mmm, the Sunday Million, im rubbish at online tournaments, played 4 years of them and never won anything big; a 4th in Full Tilts 10K Super Turbo was the singular dubious highlight.

Anyway, 5NL then. Had a go last night after the live score and did alright. Fun hand and graph below:

I can confirm that that is easily true. I play at the same place, though I play £1/£1 and last month I made £2500 over about 100 hours. The game is very easy and is the reason I prefer it so much to this online grind nonsense that me and Cr4zyeyes seem to be trying

Well I will be honest, id forgotten about it, but someone resurrected it with a post, and now I have decided to carry it on!

I am going to be working more online MTT's into the mix, and still play cash live at the Vic, with as many photos as I can get away with (they dont like you taking photos).

        Updates since last post:

I entered the £112 turbo freezeout festival tournament and came 5th for 350 in early April, no photos of that one, I was too busy sweating; thats my biggest live buy in and live MTT cash so far!... I felt like Michael Douglas in Bromancing The Stone.

I made my first 'proper' MTT final table on stars last weekend, a $13 turbo knockout, 256 runners, came 3rd for $300...I am well chuffed with that...its SO HARD to FT an MTT on Stars...

More to follow...ive got a pic of my chipstack at my last cash game for those that like colours and values...

This is not the Truth at all. How about your girlfriend lent you money, money that was a grant that the government gave her to buy things for your newborn son.

Interesting, would have been nice to have paid off money you borrowed from your girlfriend who bailed you out yet again, this time after not paying your utility bills for nearly 2 years.
