Went 16.19bb/100 over 8.3k hands at 10nl.

Took 1st shot at 25nl and ran -15.21bb/100 over 5.4k hands. Completely unexpected.

Went back down to 10nl and grinded 22k hands at 3.27bb/100.

Took 2nd shot at 25nl and ran -10.42bb/100 over 2.1k hands.

Went back down to 10nl and grinded 14k hands at 3.95bb/100.

Took 3rd shot at 25nl and ran -27.21bb/100 over 1.2k hands.

Went back down to 10nl and grinded 2k hands at -9.08bb/100.

Got sick of the grinding and decided to take a shot at 25nl again.

Took 4th shot at 25nl and am currently running huge heater 24.86bb/100 over 2.3k hands.

Goal is to not lose this opportunity to finally not have to move down from 25nl. I hope to be >5bb/100 over 10k hands. I'll post updated graphs throughout. Hopefully this will be inspiring for those struggling in similar situations.

One of the best things you can do in this position is to study a fair amount of hands you have played.

The objective obvious to find out how the fish/regulars play at 25NL as opposed to 10NL.

Good luck!

Heater has died down

Ran 3.61bb/100 over 1.4k hands today. Oh well, I'll be happy with just being in the positives.

Now at 16.95bb/100 over 3.7k hands.

I'll be playing 3 hours a day 6 tabling for ~1.4k hands until I get to 10k, which should happen in 5 more days.

Ive been having the same exact problem and now with my bankroll sitting at 410 i took another shot i realized that im not going to win big everytime i expected to make to much money out of .25nl and i was pushing hands like JJ QQ way to much and call with broadway cards. I calmed down and instead of trying to be in a hurry to make money i just wait for the money to come to me. and now when i sit down at a .25nl i am a winning player. ive focused on my position and my reads. Play your strong hands hard and dont go crazy on marginal hands. im still learning also 6 max .25nl seems alot more easy to beat than FR.

Swongs happen a ton. Over 100k hands at FTP I was at 6.5bb/100, and was even better on Bodog over a similar number of hands. Over the last 25k hands on 25nl on PS and I have broken even following a 3.5 BI downswing that got me started. Swongs be rough.

By "last shot" are you referring to my current redline? If so, I posted that right above your post.

Or were you asking for my redline during my 3 failed shots?

Need to learn to fold

Ran -0.28bb/100 over 1.4k hands today. I'm not happy at all with my result because I made a lot of bad decisions, one of them I got lucky and hit my 4 outer, so it really should have been a much lower win rate today. Looks like I still have a lot of work to do.

Today's results:

Overall results at 25nl (starting from 4th shot):

12.09bb/100 over 5.2k hands

Oh well. To end on a good note, I made gold star today

Guys when I first took a shot at 25NL I lost half my $500 BR, I dropped back down and got it back, I now have $2200 and am playing 50NL as from today.

Tips for you...Study hard, all the sites have high 25NL vid content due to the demand. The regs are poor at 25NL, most of them break even at best.

I beat 25NL for 6ptbb/100. I only took poker seriously since end of April, and I took 3 weeks off to enjoy the world cup in between. I started with $15 @ 2NL. In 10 playing weeks I am at 50NL.

Just keep your head up, work hard, study hard, concentrate on your tables, dont open 6 tables and click buttons, concentrate on your opponents and what they bet with what kind of hand, how do they play the nuts, how do they play draws etc.

The game is very very beatable.

I have a question about moving up... i normaly 4-table. what would be the best way to get up to NL25? 4 tables at once? or keep 3 10 NL tables and 1 NL25? and then 2 NL10 / 2 NL25 etc.?

Its really down to you as an individual...How I like to do it is set myself a BR target and move up when I get there.

When I move up I like to play only 2 tables, play tight ABC poker and spend a lot of the time note taking against my opponents. Writing down what their bet sizing means, what it means when they donk out, how they play draws/the nuts. Do they float cbets wide? All tons of information you can get at the table just from watching the hands youre not involved in. All make your own decision making very easy versus that player. This will improve your hand reading also and will improve you as a player no end.

Remember to study hard, I have moved from 2NL to 50NL in 10 weeks. I really dont play too much volume, I play around 10k a week(slightly under). I spend more time on forums reading HH and watching videos than I do at the tables.

So so day

I didn't get to play as much today because I had to do something during the set time I usually play. I ran 0.20bb/100 over 719 hands. I may have made some minor mistakes, but overall I felt pretty good w/ my decisions coming out of the session. I'll make up for the lost hands by playing more on Friday.

Today's graph is a smile:

Overall so far:

10.63bb/100 over 5.9k hands

I hope I run better tomorrow and especially Friday, but for now, just breaking even is fine with me

What goes around comes around

Today was 3 hours of nonstop coolers. The only good thing I can say is that I didn't go on too much tilt, though I feel my play was definitely affected negatively. I was making some decisions that I usually don't make.

Today's graph:

-22.95bb/100 over 1.5k hands

Here are the disappointing hands (these are all 6max 20-50bb tables). Feel free to comment if you feel any of them are played wrong:

Villain here is a maniac who has once shoved flop as a bluff w/ a marginal hand.

BTN shows 5 5 (a full house, Fives full of Threes)
Hero shows 8 8 (two pair, Eights and Threes)
BTN wins $16.93
(Rake: $0.88)

Villain is 23/14 over 72 hands. He c/c when he hits draws.

CO checks, Hero bets $3, CO calls $3

River: ($12.00) J (2 players)
CO bets $6.30 all-in, Hero calls $6.30

Not sure if I can ever fold here...will this type of villain ever do this with a flush?

Final Pot: $24.60
CO shows J A (four of a kind, Jacks)
Hero mucks 6 6
CO wins $23.44
(Rake: $1.16)

Villain is a 12/6 nit over 98 hands. This hand isn't played well.

3 folds, SB raises to $0.75, Hero calls $0.50

Flop: ($1.50) 6 3 5 (2 players)
SB bets $0.75, Hero calls $0.75

I usually raise here, but I didn't. I convinced myself a raise would just fold out the nit, but he is clearly calling w/ overpairs. I think I was starting to be affected by the last 2 hands.

Turn: ($3.00) A (2 players)
SB bets $1.50, Hero calls $1.50

Same problem as flop.

River: ($6.00) A (2 players)

Flop: ($1.75) 5 8 Q (2 players)
SB bets $0.75, Hero calls $0.75

Turn: ($3.25) 9 (2 players)
SB bets $1.50, Hero calls $1.50

Didn't raise because I can still get it in on river. If he had a draw I chose to give him free card over folding out his made hands.

River: ($6.25) 2 (2 players)
SB bets $3.50, Hero raises to $13.80 all in, SB calls $1.93 all in

Final Pot: $17.11
SB shows 9 8 (two pair, Nines and Eights)
Hero shows K K (a pair of Kings)
SB wins $16.27
(Rake: $0.84)

Can't remember the exact details, but villain is a guy who has limp/raised I think twice over like 3 or 4 hands. Here, he is doing it again and I decide to get it in.

Turn: ($23.69) 2 (2 players - 2 are all in)

Final Pot: $23.69
Hero shows J J (a pair of Jacks)
BTN shows 9 A (a pair of Aces)
BTN wins $22.51
(Rake: $1.18)

A few hands later... the same villain owns me again. This is probably a bad call pf since I'm flipping a coin even against the trash part of his range.

#1: Cooler
#2: River is probably easy fold, you have a weak boat.
#3: Raise the flop. Forget him being a bit, he's calling a street with all draws, and you're getting it in vs. two pairs and overpairs probably. Look at it this way, if he has nothing, he's gonna c/f the turn, so just calling achieves nothings expect letting the drawing part of his range see a cheap turn card.
#4: Unlucky
#5: Unlucky
#6: If he's easy money who's going to spew to you, why race with an easy spot? Just fold. At very best you're flipping, at worst you're like 18% equity.
#7: Meh.
#8: Cooler
#9: I ALWAYS find that the minraise on monotone flops is always the nuts, but shove anyway. You can always find a fold, especially without a redraw.
#10: Cooler

lol I feel for you man, I'm trying to go from 50NL to 100NL and i've taken 6 failed shots so far. I'm down like $1000 in 3k hands or something ******ed. The way I think about it, it's probably a hidden blessing: you get to work on your game cheaper and the beats will motivate you to improve more. Glad you got a heater going though near the end

Downswing has stopped

Today went better, but I'm not too happy because I expected to have won more. There were a few decisions I made that I felt were horrible...

Also, I said I would play more today but I got really tired after the 3rd hour, so I decided not to.

Final run

Today's graph:

-24.46bb/100 over 882 hands.

I felt pretty good about my decisions, so I don't really mind today's results. One problem area I seem to have is when to cbet in 3bet pots, so I'll try to work on that more.

Overall results:

1.98bb/100 over 9.5k hands

Conclusion

So I didn't quite make my >5 bb/100 over 10k hands goal, but I'm now pretty comfortable with the level of play at 25nl, as well as losing 3 or 4 BI throughout a session. Thanks to all the readers and people who posted, and I hope this thread helped spur some motivation for those who are trying to move up but keep having their bankroll crushed by higher stakes.

As of now, I'll continue to grind 25nl and study the game, but I won't really be updating this thread anymore. Though maybe I can post how I'm doing in 5k or 10k intervals of hands played.

Good luck to everyone in moving up!
