Great work.

What are your medium/long-term plans now that you have a money cushion and don't need to grind every day to survive?

Did you at least buy new tuxedos for the dogs?
No new clothes for the dogs, still have some, but we sold some of them as well.

Congratulations on the baby!
My plans are to live here as long as possible from poker and i believe poker will always be around even if it's not on stars, if it will be somewhere else, I'm sure i will always be able to make enough to live in a cheap country like thailand. My long term goal is to have a second income so I don't have to rely only from poker to be able to live here. But I love poker so I will do it untill I die, just not want to have the pressure to grind to survive, but grind for the love of the game. Now i still need to grind to survive, but yes not as bad as before.
Short term goals, grind more and have more money in bank for kid and to buy a cheap car, because with a kid we can't go anywhere without a car and traffic in chiang mai is freaking dangerous as well.
Pokerwise I just want to be the best at the stakes I play, always. If my results tell me to move up and it's financialy possible, I will, if not, i will work harder until I can.

I'm afraid we don't want more baby dogs, so sorry to dissappoint your father in law. I will keep it in back of my mind tho, if I know someone who has, i'll contact you.

I'm aware of that, but thx anyway

Hey!

Really happy that all worked out for you!
It rly seems that your relationship with your woman goes into the right direction, thouhg I understan still the previous warnings from people in the thread (back in the time) who also wanted to help ypu like people`s Elbow and had doubts bout your gf....
You have to understand man and I think you live here long enough to know it yourself - all the aspects you posted bout her on the first pages of this thread (or many of them) were kinda alarming (no worries, I will not bring up them again^^) and with such parameters relationships in SOA between local women and expards in ahigh %-tage does not end too well (for the expad^^);

Anyways,
Im happy to see that you rly might belong to the low %-tage where it actually works out...
Rly was always insipred by your trust in yourself, your self-refelction and your imo pretty good workethics!

Anyways, I also would have 2 quick questions:

Have you now actually been coached by Alex Wice in the past? If so, how many coachings you had with him?
and 2nd question would be, do you have any sense of your current monthly spendings on life (so everything included) and do you fear that this number might go up a bit in the future when your first child will arrive?

By the way, Congratz to becoming soon a father!

Other thant this, keep crushing and I think and strongly hope that everythings will stay great for you!
gl

Great story OP. I have actually played some Hypers against you earlier in 2014 but I am playing cash now because DCing in SNGs used to cost me too much money.

Congratulations, OP. I never thought you'd make it this far and you have definitely turned your life around. I am genuinely happy for you even though I never thought your decision making was the best and I still don't. Props for making it! Keep it up and move on towards bigger and better things.

nice update. You and your wife are a cute couple.

I have to say though... your fear of camping is kinda lame. You think your ancestors were afraid to sleep outside?

I am curious about:

-western food on Cambodia/Thailand/Nam/Singapore. I really dislike oriental food(spicy or sweet meat). Are there places that sell brown rice/whole wheat, cheese, beef, pork, good fish, etc? I know it will be expensive compared to local food, but how affordable is it?

-Is it easy to find good places to rent, or is it recommended to search a lot before picking one?

-Cashing out on those places

moving to a country that produces food you hate is similar to moving to iceland if you hate snow.

^ Zrebna is right on. I lived in Taiwan for two years and it was food hell for me and never adapted, but you find a way to survive. I would snap move back to Taiwan if the conditions were right and just live in 711 and expat places

Congrats, OP. Your wife is adorable and you're a lucky man.

I don't know about Cambodia but Thailand is not a third world country. You can get pretty much anything you want here. Plenty of western food restaurants, but in general Thais don't know how to make western food...grocery stores and supermarkets sell most western food items

I think a lot of people's knowledge of Asia comes from Vietnam war movies where they see a dude hacking through the jungle with a machete

Yep, you have to pay the price for it but you can find almost everything you want.
