i have used both HM2 and PT4 - overall i prefer HM2 + notecaddy and badges as i think it allows you to customize HUD, badges, popups, scatter graphs.....

i also find it easier to run different filters in HM2 for off the felt analysis

but HM2 doesn't like my new laptop so i have been using PT4 when on the road. it works fine just lacks a few stats and features i am used to

feel free to PM me if you have any questions

Hey guys,

First real update of the year as I watch the NFL playoffs this evening.

So as mentioned I played a boat load of hands on the 1st and 2nd of the month (had 12.3k VPPs the morning of the 3rd).

Then got 0 hands in yesterday (the 3rd) as I drove back to my University town and started to set up my laptop.

Today (the 4th) I got a minimal number of hands in in one evening session mostly because when I arrived at my house late last night I discovered that my landlord had started painting the place. Thus, I spent all day essentially sitting on the couch playing Call of Duty as I literally had nothing else to do as it was the only place in the whole house far enough away from a wall and I had no desk/chair/monitor to play on.

As for the results this far.

Two small notes 1- The 400 NL field is significantly softer than the 500 NL field in my estimation. I just ran really bad over the tiny sample for example some reg 3b/called a 4b w/ KThh Btn vs CO and flopped a flush vs KK. Just dumb things like that so I'm not really worried.

The 500 NL- I'm essentially at EV on the year except 2 massive pots. One I got in set over set vs a fish for like a $1500 pot on the turn and spiked the river...

The other I got in KK on a monotone board after I cold 4b pre and there was a 3way flop making the pot ~400 pre. I ended up completely butchering the flop and managed to back into a full house vs a flopped flush.

Not complaining obviously, it's always nice. Especially when I was stuck playing on an old desktop without a HUD or my normal stars settings etc...

I was really hoping to grind out a lot of vpps and just play ~ BE until I got back onto my laptop with my HUD etc...

Anyway, this should wrap things up for the first update. I'll leave you with a pick of results and I'll try to get another one in next weekend unless something spectacular happens between now and then like I win the Sunday Million without registering or something.

Also, after this update I will be posting without EV regardless of whether I'm up or down as it doesn't help my mental game.

Hey guys, quick post before I head back to my first week at school.

So, weekend went not great but not terribly.

My volume was cut short as I eluded to in my previous post but I've managed to almost get completely set up. At this point I just need to get a few of my popups sent over from my other computer and then I will be nearly completely set.

$ wise it went better than I could have expected but I'm pretty burnt out at the moment. I'm looking forward to having a few days off where all I really need to do is the odd coaching session and part 2 of the leakfinder I'm doing for leggopoker.

On a school related note I'm pretty rattled. The lab course that I hate beyond measure for a multitude of reasons which is pretty much only bearable due to my lab partner being awesome just got completely ****ed up.

They reshuffled the lab groups for absolutely no reason whatsoever except that they can so I now have a completely different lab partner (which I suspect will be **** given the information presently available to me). Either way... now that class is truly without a single upside... Time to just grind through it I guess.

Reasonably pleased with how the NFL weekend went. Given my bears were eliminated from playoff contention last weekend (seriously how the **** do you leave Cobb wide open for a 48 yard touchdown with 40 seconds left on 4th and 8 from your own 48 in mediocre at best weather conditions when they have a kicker with a history of being "meh".) Anyway, the most important game of the weekend went the way of the 9ers sending those cheese heads home packing. The sports fan in me wanted to see the eagles win their game as I really enjoy watching them play but the bitter whale in me was happy to see them get bounced by the saints as they also destroyed chicago 2 weeks ago in what turned out to be a meaningless game for them but ultimately cost us the playoffs. Colts/Chiefs game was unreal and the Bolts/Bengals game was also reasonably good. Happy to see Rivers (who takes **** like no other in the league except Romo) get himself a playoff win. Hopefully they can go upset Denver. I seriously hate when Manning/Brady win since they've already won so much it's nice to see others win. At present time I'm cheering for a 9ers/seahawks NFC championship to go along with a bolts/colts AFC championship. Followed by a bolts/9ers Super Bowl. Not saying it's going to happen but that's what I'd like to see. 9ers have a realistic shot, bolts probably not so much...

Anyway, back to the poker. Here's my results up until January 5th for this year.

Here's my yearly VPP count.

I'm pretty sure I'm ahead of pace at this point but that's not going to be the case for long. The plan is to play as much as possible Fri-Sun to try and limit the amount that I get behind for when I finish exams at the end of april. At that point I can hopefully catch myself up/pull ahead of pace.

Cheers guys, see ya next sunday.

Figured I'd get a pre weekend update in.

As it was the first week of school and I didn't have many school obligations I got some hands in.

I'm currently sitting at 30k Vpps on the year which is far from spectacular but definitely respectable as I have ~20 hours of class/labs etc to attend.

I'm looking forward to a good weekend. The plan was originally to try and do 7500 vpps/day and then take off monday-wednesday and focus on school again as I tend to get into either "poker mode" or "school mode" and the change from one to the other takes a little time so doing one our of poker followed by an hour of school work then an hour of poker tends to be less efficient than allotting 2 blocks of time (for the same number of total hours) one dedicated to poker and the other to school. (Obviously I include breaks where I eat, read etc for my own sanity, I just don't do other work.

That being said, there are 4 playoff games this weekend and I'm definitely going to watch part of all of them at the very least. I don't think Indy/NE will be a great game but I'm really excited about the other 3. As such, I'm going to amend my original goal and set a new one at 5k/day which will leave me at 40k heading into next week which I think is reasonable.

My picks for the games this weekend are Seahawks, Colts, 49ers and Chargers (picking the upset).

I had my first lab this past week. We got to isolate/purify calf DNA which was pretty cool. We ended up with a big wad of DNA on the end of some chopstick like instruments. I have a video of it which I may try to link into here if I have time and can overcome my severe computer related disabilities. My lab partner turned out to be pretty decent as far as I can tell. I still wish I had my old one but I'm definitely pleased with the new one as well. It could have gone much much worse.

I'll wrap things up with results by stakes as always. I think I ran like complete **** at the start of the week and then have been running quite well the last day and a half or so so I think I should be up a tiny bit since my last update but I haven't checked to confirm that.

Either way, I'll update sunday night. Have a good weekend everyone and enjoy the football games!

Cheers,

Chris.

P.S. I'm going to try my hand at making a Beer and Cheddar soup recipe I found online as I love to cook and it sounds amazing. Will also update with the results of that.

Edit: Just checked and I'm down ~ 1 BI on the week it seems.

Hey guys it's Sunday night so time for another quick update.

As I mentioned earlier the week started horribly, went spectacularly thurs-fri before I hit another small downswing saturday/sunday morning. I managed to grind most of it back tonight though.

Yearly VPP count is sitting at 35k which is 5k short of where I want it to be but alas I'm still in decent shape.

Every day that I'm in school and still ~ SNE pace is a victory.

Pics below.

As for the football this weekend I managed to get half right... was pretty sad to see denver prevail but what can you do. Oh well.

Next weekend I want San Fran ato win but I suspect seattle pulls out the NFC at home unfortunately. I couldn't care less about the AFC. I hate both the broncos and patriots though I guess Denver represents the lesser of two evils. The most annoying fans hands down are largely split between pats fans and seahawks fans.

Other than that not much to talk about.

My Beer and Cheddar soup was a great success and I suspect I'll make another batch come super bowl time.

Do you think you are so adjusted to Zoom play that you don't do well at regular tables? I think this is a very real concept and may make moving up later in the year tougher. I have noticed lately that when I play 500 zoom I tend to spew against guys who always have the nuts, but when I play 10/20NL I do really well. Rather have it that way, I guess, and just never play zoom again as I never really strive for volume goals anyway GL this year.

I agree this is a very real thing. I think I definitely suffer from that as well. I'm mixing in days of 400 and 600 Nl at the moment so as to slowly break out of those habbits to make the transition to 1k and 2k easier.

I think if I don't do that I'd have a pretty tough time dealing with the 1k and 2k tables where I think I'm probably a small favorite on the 1k tables currently (like really small favorite) assuming the tables are reasonable.

I think it definitely hurts me when I play 400 NL. That being said, I think I have a significant enough skill advantage over the 400 NL regs that if I'm slightly overly nitty in a few spots it doesn't completely kill me.

Thanks for the good question these are always so much more fun to answer than, "Hey man, can you send me your HUD?"

Looked up to your abilities as a player since you jumped online mid/late last year. Best of luck this year to you as well.
