Background

I've made a few posts in PG&C, I didn't complete any of the challenges. And there is one particularly embarrassing (I had a snarky and ****ty attitude) post on BBV.

During one of my challenges I build a bankroll of ~$470, cashed out because I was struggling with 10nl zoom, got an idea to play HU on IPoker, that didn't go well and I ended up losing the rest in two hands of blackjack.

I've lost my bankrolls in similar ways, most often just moving up to bigger games, for over 6 years since I was 18, I just turned 25. I contacted PokerStars, Fulltilt Poker and Party Poker and got a deposit/cashout chart for my lifetime play at their websites and I lost
Spoiler:
~$24, 000 (Roughly this amount, includes live losses, plus other small sites. This is about $290/month of losses on average over the last 6 years.
.

Since then I've taken time away from poker (about 5-6 months), got a job, live alone and supporting myself, eating well, exercising and working out daily. I've saved up a lot of money ($3.200), and am in a place where I can take a small shot at poker again, and do a very controlled experiment but real life with remain the priority, I also have other hobbies (like writing) I want to put my time into.

The Challange

My goal is in the next 60 days to start from 2NL zoom with $40 and move up to 10NL with a bankroll of $400. At that point I will re-evaluate.

Obstacles

Because I've struggled with bankroll management as well as emotional self control, I have to force myself to have higher bankroll requirements to minimize the effects of the bad days, and downswings. I will have at least 40BI in my bankroll because I know moving down is difficult for me

I also have a very bad habit of moving up when I get tilted, or frustrated, and I will be letting my bestie know how I am doing poker wise and if things get bad I will have her support.

Reasons for the Challenge
  • One of my poker friends beat 25NL for 8bb/100 over 100k hands, and a few months before that he was struggling to win at 2nl. (He since has moved to live poker in his country) I was able to sweat a lot of his sessions so I learned a lot.
  • I know that the game is beatable with hard work, discipline and dedication.
  • Having some spare money, and having a feeling of achieving a goal even if it's just a hobby.

Challenge Start Date : Feb 12 2015

Notes :

Achieved Silverstar VIP Status, and have 1076 FPPs. Planning to move up at $200 to 5nl.

I struggled through a bit of a downswing this week and was somewhat affected by it but I managed to pull through it and get a $32 day (today). My mental game still needs a lot of work, and I need to stay on my A and B games at all times, not just when I have a good day.

Notes : Moved up to 5nl, and I am having to adjust because players are more aggressive (more barrelling and check raising flop with draws.) I am also working on my opening ranges, 3 bet and 4 bet ranges.

I also am planning to join a coaching website, maybe someone has some suggestions on good ones for micro stakes and zoom games?
