Hi 2+2,

I have decided to start a 6 max zoom challenge starting at the bottom with 2nl with the aim of one day reaching 200nl. I think it is important to set realistic goals and I thoroughly believe that with hard work and determination this is achievable. I will keep everyone updated with graphs, hand histories and bankroll pictures.

Bankroll Management

I will be using a very aggressive but fluid bankroll management system. I will start by taking a 2 buy-in shot when I have 10 buy-ins for the next level and move down when I drop below 8 buy ins for a level. As I progress up the limits I will adjust this rule accordingly. I will start the challenge with a bankroll of $20 which is 10 buy-ins at 2nl. Here is a pic of my starting bankroll:

Wish me luck.

Cheers,

Bankroll: $23.16

The challenge got off to a good start with $3.16 profit after 300 hands. I am hoping to put in a large amount of volume over the next few days which should help me progress quickly to 5nl.

Here is my graph for the first day:

Bankroll: $28.72

So after 1000 hands I have made $8.72 profit running at 43BB/100. Just $21.28 more until I have 10 buy-ins for 5nl. Here is a graph of my first 1000 hands as well as a summary of my stats.

Just single tabling zoom. As I have fairly aggressive bankroll management I think it is best for me to just focus on the one table at a time.

GL to you too.

Bankroll: $29.30

After my good start things have not gone so well. After 3000 hands my profit stands at $9.30. After growing the bankroll to just over $36 I hit a massive downswing due to a combination of bad play, tilt and bad luck. I have learnt my lesson and seen how quickly tilt can destroy hard earned profits so will not be making that mistake again.

Here is my graph for the first 3000 hands:

Cheers Go2sleepmama I will start posting interesting hands when they come up.

Bankroll: $20

Really dissappointed with myself. After a bad beat I went and tilted away the rest of my profits. Im going to restart the challenge back at $20 one final time. If I fail again then that will be the end of my poker career. If I can't handle the swing at 2nl then I have no chance at 200nl. Wish me luck!

Hey man I've been there as well. After having a bad beat spewed all my winnings and having to deposit again to start all over. I have deposited 20$ 20 times before I got my bankroll going. Don't lose hope, just focus on the right play. Don't get desperate if you lost from a bad beat. Just wait for a better spot next time and play tighter. Work on your mental game

Don't let the downswings finish your main goal. It's ok to have that kind of variance. Let me put my example, I was up 17$ profit, and in 2 really bad days combine with bad decisions I was where I started after 13k of hands. I decide to study more and take a break from sessions to change a little bit things. It works well after 1500 hands and a profit of 6$.

Keep up grinding and gl bro!

You are going to go broke every time with $20, deposit at least $100 so you have enough to play 2nl properly.

Bankroll: $28.17

Hi everyone,

So I decided to take a couple of days off poker before restarting my challenge with a new attitude. I used the days to do lots of poker studying to try and improve my game. It seems to have paid off as just had my first session of a couple hundred hands and finished up 4 buy-ins in profit. Obviously it's early days but nice to get off to a good start. Can't wait for KobeInstinct to eat his words .

Here's a cool hand from the session. Please let me know if you liked my play here or if there is anything I did badly. Would really appreciate any advice.

PokerStars - $0.02 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

Hero (BTN): $5.92
SB: $1.03
BB: $5.08
UTG: $4.39
MP: $5.27
CO: $1.42

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has K 2

fold, MP calls $0.02, fold, Hero raises to $0.08, fold, BB calls $0.06, MP calls $0.06

Flop: ($0.25, 3 players) 9 J Q
BB checks, MP checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($0.25, 3 players) 6
BB bets $0.15, MP calls $0.15, Hero calls $0.15

River: ($0.70, 3 players) T
BB checks, MP bets $0.68, Hero raises to $5.69 and is all-in, fold, MP calls $4.36 and is all-in

Spoiler:
Hero shows K 2 (Straight, King High)
(Pre 54%, Flop 78%, Turn 84%)
MP shows 7 8 (Straight, Queen High)
(Pre 46%, Flop 22%, Turn 16%)
Hero wins $10.48

Cheers,

I will assume this is not your first time at the tables since u have such ambitious goals otherwise id rather agree with KobeInstinct, I remember when i first started i went broke twice with a roll of 25bi !! in my personale case i had never read or watch a single video bout poker, so thats why !

Gl and keep this updated! like this sharp challenge hope u can take it further!

It's so important when beginning to be more than adequately bankrolled, I know when I first started I only had $40 for 2NL. Having anywhere from 150-200 starting roll for 2NL is essential in my eyes it gives you more than enough room to lose and improve your game without going broke.

Hope this helps and good luck

Bankroll: $40.77

The good run continues. After 1107 hands I am $20.77 in profit. I've been running at 93.81BB/100 which is pretty sweet but obviously not sustainable. Just $9.33 more needed to move up to 5nl.

Here is my graph and stats so far:

why be creative with your graph? you played 3000 hand earlier and were up ~$9 then back down to 20 and then rising again. The graph above doesn't reflect that. if you cherry pick your good results the only person you are deluding is yourself. embrace your downswings instead of hiding them else you will be in big trouble once you start moving up.

Thanks KeithMM. You're definitely right, I guess I just wanted to start the challenge fresh. I wanted my graph and statistics to reflect my actual play not just me spewing chips on tilt. That way I know whether my A game is good enough for me to move up. From now on I will embrace my downswings as well as my upswings.

BOOM!!! Made it to $50 which means time to move up to 5nl. I will be taking a 2 buy-in shot at 5nl, moving back down to 2nl if the bankroll goes below $40.

Here is my graph and stats for 2nl:

10 buyins is very very little. Normally at least 30 is recommended. I did pretty much the same challenge as you are doing right now, however I don't have a specific goal in mind. I just want to be as good as possible. ( however I would like to beat NL25 this year, possibly even NL50. ) I've currently gone from €20 to €400. Ill be tracking your progress, it sounds cool. I wonder how far somebody can come with 10 buyins per level haha
