Hi all,

I'm a 22 year old bachelor student from the Netherlands, who loves to play online poker. I've never had a PG&C thread, but since I got more serious about the game and I have clear goals in mind, it is time to change that.

background story
I've played poker on and off for the past 5 years or so. Looking back I was never too serious about my game and lacked discipline. I was lazy, playing mtt's and sng's and not studying the game much. Somehow I managed to bink a few scores, which kept my BR going. After I went on a downswing I decided to start grinding the spin & go's. Started at the 7's and moved up to 15's and basically ran hot there, binking 2 100x scores.

After reevaluating my options I decided I didn't want to depend on variance too much and decided moving on to cash games was a good options. Also I liked the amount of skill that was involved. I started at 25nl zoom and moved up to 50nl zoom fast. From there on it was me basically 4-tabling trying to grind out a decent winrate. Also I took various shots at 100nl zoom, and failed miserably

After having kind of B/E results preRB for the past months, I tried to improve my game a lot. Playing too long and not having a stop/loss has been a problem for me, also I still experience tilt sometimes.
I'd like to keep myself more accountable and in check, that's one of the reasons I started this thread.

goals

I'd like to move up to 100nlz soon to establish me as a (winning) reg there. I'm quite conservative when it comes to brm, so I want a decent roll before I take shots. For now I'm aiming at winning 4BB/100 at 50nl.

What to expect in this thread?

-Decent session reviews with hand histories/graphs
-No unnecessary whining about results or coolers

Also besides poker I'm a huge fan of self-improvement. I'm on a tight workout and meditation schedule among other some other healthy habits I try to incorporate into my life. For now though, I keep the thread mostly poker related because I guess that's where most of you are here for.

Anyway, here are the results from this month so far.

Bankroll is at $4550 right now.

Thanks all for viewing,
Let's hope for some rungood!

thanks man

I basically quit for the day if I drop 4 buyins or more. Also I try to take a break every hour or so in a session. When I feel like my game is lacking or when I'm in a downswing I try to play 2-3 tables max.

First update

Put in a ton of volume yesterday. Didn't had too much planned yesterday so was able to play all evening till like midnight. The pool was really soft yesterday. Haven't seen anything like this in a while. Tons of recs and fish.

We ran well, especially the first 4k hands. Then some standard coolers happened; boat over boat, KK<AA twice etc.
Decided too keep playing because I felt like I was playing well and the pool was so soft.

Want to post some HH, but keep getting this message.

"The hand history pasted contained formatting, spaces or special characters that are non-standard or was for a site or game type that is not supported."

Anyone else having this problem? I can't convert directly from PT4 nor from handconverter.com

So little update:

Didn't play yesterday due to school work. Sunday I put in 2500 hands and won 2.5 buyins.

I studied my database for this month Sunday and compared it with the last few months. Turns out we're doing better stat wise. Especially in the BB I see a big improvement. My mental game is also better, spewed a lot less lately and had a lot more long sessions where I played right. Bankroll is over $5k now, I still want to grind like 20 buyins before we take a ~15 buyin shot at 100nl zoom. Also want to improve my game.

Finally figured out why I couldn't post hands, so here a few of the last days:

Biggest pot lost; This was against a 1 tabler rec. I talk myself into calling here a lot against recs in this spot. Didn't had any reads that he was spewing and seems like an odd bluff even for fish. Probably call 88 here readless?

Might be just a fold on turn, but as played I guess we have to shove here? I have a few Kc and Ac combos.
Don't know why he didn't 4b pre, villain is a quite aggresive reg.

Tanked a while before calling. I'm sure he folds something like QJ or JJ. I don't really think he has many lower flushes in his range given sizing, now some nits might even fold lower flushes here.

Really contemplated not to bet river in this spot. If he calls any pp lower than 77 pre we should check I believe.

Another day on the wrong side of variance.
Biggest pots lots were preflop setups or postlfop setups. Made some mistakes in smaller pots also which could have saved some EV loss.

That sizing just screams AQ or QQ, but can we ever fold here?

Had a note that he called a 3bet with Q7suited oop and called blinds pretty loose, pretty sure it was a rec. AQ is probably a 3bet but see a lot of people flatting that too.

I put all Q9 in his range which influenced the decision.

If he's not incorrectly shoving QK I think we don't beat anything and don't see him bluffing here.

First of all, merry christmas everyone!

I want to continue with updating as I'm still grinding it out while I can.
Yesterday was a rough day, was up 5 buyins and lost almost all of that in the last 1000 hands or so unfortunately. Then I quit to prevent tilt/bad play.

Also put in a little session today, with devastating results. Lost 6 buyins in <2k hands already. Had just nothing going for me, biggest pot won so far is just $25 while I lost multiple bigger 200bb pots.

Some of the spots:

This was against a 1 tabler russian rec/fish. Might be a fold even against a rec, although I have them seen spew off here before.

Against a 40/25/15/ AF3 regfish here.

Needs to spew off 1/4th of the time otr here with some Ah/air hand I figured. Besides that there are not much value hands in his range, probably checks most overpairs otr. So it's really made flushes or air.

Good luck OP!

With your last post, I really dislike most of those hands, your sizings are particularly gross and some of the folds are mubsy.

Quick update:
Here is the full graph of Yesterday. I 3 tabled yesterday because of the bad results of the last few sessions. Overall I think I played decent, but card distribution determines a lot.

hands:

He snapped off here, was a 2 tabler rec who seems to have a clue about ranges.
I think I'd like to check here, we beat some FD's. Not sure what he does with a hand like AJ here also.

Vs unknown rec or reg, was not sure. Ranges are pretty disguised here. I guess we mix check backs and betting small on flop. Could size up turn a little probably. Used his full time bank here.

#1. Why do you bet flop and turn 40% pot? Board seems to hit his calling range pretty well. Against fish I like to bet (much) bigger here and so exploit their mistakes more. I think with this sizing you give him the best price in the world to hit his **** and don’t extract enough from him.

#2. As played I think otr it’s fine too call, you get a good price. Do you also consider 4betting for value pre against his 15% 3bet?

#3. Find his river sizing pretty strong. I would call only here if I have reads on whether he plays his missed draws like that.

#5. It looks pretty awkward to fold flopped 2 pair after a 3 bet. What’s your intention when you 3 bet there?

-Agree we can deviate more from GTO by betting bigger against fish. Sometimes I'm just too much on autopolit. Vs regs I do think that this is a spot to use frequent smaller bets around 1/3th pot.

-I don't think this is a 4b canditate in general. I don't like to gii pre and plays pretty blad if our 4bet gets called.

-Agree

-It does, but this is one of the worst if not worst flop for our 2 pair. I don't think we have enough equity to gii here. We are going to see lots of J9/AJ or lower made flushes if we shove here.

I mix between calling/3betting/folding this combo pre. Depends on how aggressive blinds are and if there are weaker players in the blinds.

Q9s against the rec is ill advised imho. I don't think he has a T after betting twice and better hands are not folding.

I don't see what part of your range benefits all that much from sizing down on that turn. Some of your hands will want value and protection, some of them will want folds. Neither will be had very effectively with that sizing and it's not like you'll gain much by being able to bet QQ or whatnot. I think it's better to save the smaller sizing for the spots where your strong hands need less protection or where our mergy hands benefit more from being bet.

And as an aside, the GTO play is the maximally exploitative play. You're sacrificing ev here by not exploiting neither the pool nor you specific opponent with that turn sizing and thus it has nothing to do with the word GTO.
