Happy New Year! It's be long time since my last update. I was going through my longest downswing at the end of the year, around 30BI downswing. I was really overwhelmed by poker variance but from what I read 30BI downswing is pretty normal in poker. I guess everyone needs to live with it and build a stronger mental game. Luckily, I have grinded half of the downswing out. In one day or two, I just cannot win any sessions and was down 10-20BI in a few days. I am reading the book "The mental game of poker" and I think it really helps me to improve my mental game. I highly recommended this book.

https://www.amazon.com/Mental-Game-P.../dp/0615436137

Here is the 50NL blitz results so far:

For the new year goal, I want to try to move up stakes to 200NL by the end of the year.
I heard that ignition 200NL zone is softer than 50NL blitz and I might give it a shot.

Finally, bitcoin! The price action has been insane recently. I have sold all my crypto-currency and converted into my poker bankroll and I will have bankroll for my 200NL game.

Wish everyone good luck in 2021!

I took my first shot in 200z and it went well today:

I found the pool is softer than 50NL blitz and pool seems to be under 3bet. Not sure since I just played once. Pool is also less aggressive compared to 50NL blitz. The rake seems to be much lower around 3.5bb/100 hands compare to 5-6bb/100. Any one can confirm what is the expected rake for 200NL on ignition?

Here are some interesting hand tonight:

H1:

Is river jam to thin? Is turn sizing OK? The turn card interact very well with my xr range and once he call my small, he doesn't have too many strong flushes going to the river.

    Ignition - $2 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

    SB: $150.00 (75 bb)
    Hero (BB): $200.00 (100 bb)
    UTG: $198.00 (99 bb)
    MP: $204.00 (102 bb)
    CO: $200.00 (100 bb)
    BTN: $73.17 (36.6 bb)

SB posts $1.00, Hero posts BB $2.00

Pre Flop: (pot: $3.00) Hero has J Q
3 folds, BTN raises to $6.00, fold, Hero calls $4.00

    Flop: ($13.00, 2 players) 8 4 J
Hero checks, BTN bets $6.18, Hero raises to $18.54, BTN calls $12.36

    Turn: ($50.08, 2 players) 2
Hero bets $17.79, BTN calls $17.79

    River: ($85.66, 2 players) Q
Hero bets $157.67 and is all-in, fold

    Results: $85.66 pot ($4.00 rake)
    Final Board: 8 4 J 2 Q

    Hero wins $81.66

    H2:

Is it too thin to jam the AQ here otr but he never has KJ here.
But I think he can river decent amount of two pair given the action so I check back. If it is a completely blank, I will jam.

I am doing well so far. I think I need to increase volume a little bit. At the beginning, due to 4x stake jump I feel a little bit timid in some trip barrel bluffing spot and now I am getting used to it.

Thanks. Mine is 4.68bb/100 so far and not sure if this is due to variance.

I doubt you work for Silicon Valley, especially when you're bragging about your tiny bitcoin investment being up 20% therefore increasing your poker bankroll. Good try though.

Best of luck on ignition man, I've recently begun to think that grinding on ACR is a waste of time and mental energy for most. Even if you're getting the beast at 200, you still have to contend with the horrific downswings that come with playing in tough zoom games

Cost of living in Silicon Valley is absolutely absurd, so unless he's a senior engineer, that bitcoin probably isn't entirely insignificant in terms of his available poker funds

Thanks. I feel pretty good switching from ACR to ignition so far. I do have a rakeback deal on ignition with some affiliates and please PM me if anyone is also interested.

Most software engineers are well paid here but cost and tax here is really high as well.

1.3bb/100 rake difference seems to be a lot. Let me get more volume and see how this number changes.

I had my first 500NL reg table session today and there are still decent fish in the pool but the playing style seems to be slightly different. They seems to be very sticky vs 1/3 cbet on the flop and a polarized strategy on the flop might perform better.

      This fish caught me:
        Ignition - $5 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

        CO: $397.75 (79.6 bb)

        MP: $537.35 (107.5 bb)

SB posts $2.50, Hero posts BB $5.00

        Pre Flop: (pot: $7.50) CO has T T, Hero has 5 5
2 folds, CO calls $5.00, 2 folds, Hero checks

        Flop: ($12.50, 2 players) 2 2 T
        Hero checks, CO checks

        Turn: ($12.50, 2 players) 5
Hero bets $17.82, CO calls $17.82

        River: ($48.14, 2 players) 3
Hero bets $90.00, CO raises to $200.00, Hero raises to $477.18 and is all-in, CO calls $174.93 and is all-in

        Results: $798.00 pot ($4.00 rake)
        Final Board: 2 2 T 5 3

Hero shows 5 5: (Full House, Fives full of Twos)
        (Pre 19%, Flop 0%, Turn 2%)

CO shows T T: (Full House, Tens full of Twos)

Just had my worst session ever last week, lost 10 BI at 200NL. I feel my mental game is stronger than before and it seems I can still play game normally even after I lost 5 BI.

        This week update:

Had a downswing in 200z during the last week, about 10BI. But run pretty good in 500NL reg table.

        Weekly update:

Took a shot at 500z and many hands were 3-4 handed. I haven't studied BvB too much and definitely need to polish this spot.
