Yeah I was a RIO essential member but you definitely need Elite membership to learn from the bests.
Upswing poker is just a joke compared to RIO elite. Don't waste your time to watch upswing videos IMO,

Nice result OP. I guess it's still zoom yeah?
You should post a hand sometimes

Wrapping up the week here. Didnt get much volume in as I mentioned I probably wouldn't. Felt quite rusty after only taking like 2 days off earlier in the week and felt lost in super standard spots, but luckily it didn't last long and felt like I played quite well today.

The grind has been pretty rough the last week and I feel like im running pretty awful in standard spots. Luckily ive been running good in preflop cooler situations which is helping a lot, otherwise I feel like id be downswinging pretty bad with how im running elsewhere. Flicked in some 1knl on an untracked site the last two sessions and proceeded to run godlike there which was nice

Graph for the week:

+3.7k on untracked

Hope the grind is treating everyone well

Gonna note down some goals ive set fo for this week.

  • Dont check results for the week until after session on the 14th June. -The past month or so has probably been the worst my mental game has been in a long time. Im finding myself checking my session results every time I win/lost a significant pot and checking if im over/under EV which is definitely affecting my focus.
  • Study at least 40 mins per day.
  • Read at least 10 pages of a book per day.

indeed, very inspiring blog OP! The don't check results thing was always a big one for me aswell, you play soo much better if you don't check those.

As someone who is trying to do the same as you did, in climbing the stakes in the current enviroment, is there anything in particular you think added massivly to your success? Certain study routines, game selection or having study buddies? Would highly appreciate your thoughts on this!

gl in your grind

Are you still using just RIO elite or do you also work a lot with software/solvers? Great progress and very inspiring.

Ty . I think all of the things you mentioned are important. I never really had a study routine and just studied when I wanted or felt like it. Ive been pretty bad at game selection although this is probably the thing that can add the most to your winrate with the least amount of effort necessary. Personally I enjoy battling tough games and although its not the best from a $EV standpoint, I think its super beneficial in improving your game and its also fun . I also never studied much with others, but it seems to be a common theme among very good players that they do, so maybe I should get on that.

Overall two things stand out as being the most beneficial for me in improving. 1)Coaching - This would be the number one thing I would d recommend for anyone trying to improve. Just make sure you choose a good coach and not some punter.
2)Like I mentioned before, playing vs really good players and observing what they are doing differently than me.

Thanks mate! Na my main source for studying is PIO for sure. I usually just update my RIO sub every couple of months and watch some vids.

Played today without looking at results and it went well. Played two sessions and felt a lot more focused. I have no idea if Im up or down and it feels ****ing great

Soooo...

Failed miserably on the results checking goal . Managed to do it for two days and then checked after the session on the third day. I at least stopped checking results mid session and only checked once I was done for the day, so I guess some progress was made.

Smashed the other two goals. Obviously they weren't exactly the toughest goals but happy I stuck with them.

Results for the week:

Not as pretty as it seems unfortunately as I was -3k on untracked site. Im only grinding with one monitor at the moment so I dont have much room to have lobbys up etc so I decided to withdraw the rest of my roll on that site and stick to stars. Constantly scanning lobbys and changing tables on two different sites was taking up a bit too much focus.

Hopefully more of the same this week, gl errybody

Yo, quick update for the week!

Low volume this week but to be expected considering I had a few other things going on. Ran goooood. Two fairly simple goals for the coming week - 1) Study 40 mins a day and 2)Play 10k hands. Games haven't been the best recently, at least at the times I play anyway, so hoping that picks up!

Graph for the week:

Ill post a few hands for the sake of the thread, feel like its fairly boring

Wrapping the month up here. Overall i'm delighted with results after an underwhelming May and Im happy to be back in the green. Volume was relatively low which can be put down to a number of things. Ive been kinda busy with college work and even though its not the most mentally taxing work, I definitely find it somewhat difficult to shift my focus between college and poker which often ends up with me not being at my best in both areas.

Also been fairly distracted with sports returning and ive been watching a good bit of football/golf. Been playing a bit of golf which is super exciting to have back in my life and im looking forward to playing a ton over the next few months. Aside from the low volume I was relatively happy with my work off the table this month but still definitely room for improvement.

Gonna try and give meditation a go this month. Ive tried it in the past, and although im very convinced of the benefits of it, I have always found it a bit, I dunno, gimmicky or something in the past when I have tried it. Gonna start with reading 8 minute meditation which was recommended by Ben86 in Joe Ingrams pod and see where that takes me. If anyone else has any recommendations on good resources for meditation lmk .

Garph for the month. Nice to get some EV back

Gl everyone, hope the grind is treating you all well!
