Hi guys,

I am a 24 year old grinder from Germany.
This is my first PGC thread and the first ever I'm setting poker goals for myself. I'm making this thread to keep my motivation high + keep track of my progress.

[ ] Watch 5 poker videos min a week
[ ] Move up to NL200
[ ] Supernova
[ ] 50k Profit from MTTs + cash
[ ] Read Haseeb Qureshi's new book + Mental Game of Poker 1+2
[ ] Improve my hyper 6max game and beat 30$s

some graphs:

Pokerstars MTTs

Pokerstars.fr MTTs

CG 2013

CG last two months of 2013

As you can see in the graphs I grinded MTTs for the last years and just recently switched to cash. I put a lot of work into improving as a cash game player at the end of last year, and I am going to proceed to do so in 2014.
I started at NL25 and currently grind the NL50 Zoom tables (6max and FR).

My main goal this year is to improve a lot at CG. Monetary goals are secondary.
I probably will grind MTTs on weekends (no 10$ FO's, just high value stuff like red tournies + turbos) and cash + study on weekdays (take mondays off + 1 day on the weekend when I go out).

I have thinking a lot about an accurate profit goal. Most of my profit will probably come from MTTs which make it hard to ''plan'' your winnings.
Since I'm playing full-time this year, I think that 50k should be achievable though.

GL to everyone in 2014!

thanks guys!

I took the first days of this years off because I was taking advatage of the juicy MTT games from 12/24 - 12/30 last year which was pretty exhausting.
Had only one spewy session in the time from 1/1 - 1/5/2014 which makes my yearly graph look somewhat ugly

2014

since 1/6/2014

When I started playing NL50 6max zoom on monday, i felt like my play was super rusty. Reasons being me lacking CG experience in general, not playing for 2 weeks + not being used to 6max dynamics (from pretty much exclusively playing FR MTTs in the last years).
For these reasons I sticked to watching videos (8 this week) and playing FR CG. NL50 FR was super boring though even when I was 10-tabling, so I switched to a mix of 3-6 regular NL100 FR tables (to get a feel for the games) + 1 or 2 NL50 zoom tables. This was a good way to keep my focus high.

I like the NL100 games very much so far. They don't seem to be too tough and regs have very unique styles to say the least
It could also have been a decent start money-wise, if I didn't lose my two only 200BB pots:

I just received Haseeb Qureshi's book. Going to read and relax a bit, before grinding the Winamax series in the evening! Probably gonna stick with winamax tournies because stars + winamax doesn't work too well on my 17" notebook. I guess I need to buy a monitor soon.

good question, but not an easy one to answer.

online poker is basically a grey area in german regulation. there is no official poker regulation.
i'm not entirely sure about the current state of it and don't want to give away wrong infos here (i think some politicians want to bann online poker, some want to regulate it...).
i'm pretty sure though that a black friday type event is not going to happen here (frozen funds etc.).

my accountant told me that you have to pay 10% up to 24k winnings. for winnings over 24k the trade tax comes into effect which is 15-49%. obv you need to be super rich to pay anywhere close to 49%.

tcoop starts today i'm going to play all the holdem events today (won a sat for #3). generally there are not too many scoop event which fall into my buy-in category. i'm going to play a lot of sats tho + might buy-in directly to a few higher events if i feel like it

in the last week i played a good amount of mtts which didn't go very well:

cash since my last update (mostly NL50 6max):

i am little bit more comfortable in 6max CG right now, at the same time i have sooo many leaks. i bought a leggo poker subscription to fix some of them.

i also realized i need o work a ton on my mtt game since i did not play in many tough games over the last years and feel like i have a lot of leaks.
because of this and since another goal of mine was to become beter at 6max hyper sngs, i bought an icmizer subscription. very nice software

here are few CG hands which i feel like i played like a fish. comments would be nice

sorry for the lack of updates.

following tcoop i played more mtts than i planned to do so. i'm down like 4-5k which isn't a a a problem at all but playing a lot of mtts is since it really messes with my plan of improving. it's tough for me mindeset-wise to be down 500-1000 in one MTT session, then wake up the next morning to play NL50 (or watch videos).

i realized another lessson: i really need to put in hours and hours just grinding to improve, watching videos and doing work off the tables isn't going to be enough finally. my lifetime cash game volume is still ridiculously low.
i'm still such a mindset fiash in cash: when i'm down a buy-in i quit because i'm thinking i'm playing bad. when i'm up a few i quit because i'm scared to lose it.

haseeb qureshi helped me a lot to realize these things. his book is pretty spectacular by the way.

as i told you in my last post i bought a leggo poker subscription which now is ivey league. apotheosis' videso helped me a ton. let's be honest: most of the poker vids out there are crap. apottheosis though has a very good approach of making videos, teaching and obviously is a sick player.

on 26th of february i realized the month had only 28th days and i had to earn about 3500 VPPS to maintain platinum star (due to mostly grinding on ps.fr). i started to grind 15$ 6max hypers and ended up 12-tabling 30s at one point yesterday (i normally 6-table these and try to play perfectly) because i had to leave for a soccer game at 18pm CET. it felt like my brain was melting but it was worth it, finished with 790 games and 5,2% ROI.
also reviewed a lot of hyper hands via ICMIZER and plan to keep doing so.

so i'm going to stick to 6max hyper and cash in next month and improve in both of them. i was thinking of making a 'goal' of not playing one mtt in the next monthmarch, but i guess the occasional tourney won't hurt.
