Hey guys, I'm a long time lurker of 2+2 forums and I thought I'd finally make a thread to log my progress while I get serious with online poker. Just a bit about me, I'm a 22 year old British Born Chinese (BBC) guy, studying engineering student at Aston University in Birmingham, originally from Bournemouth/Southampton area.
I started playing poker properly in December 2013, I was lucky to have a few friends who taught me the fundamentals of the game and I quickly turned my £3k roll to £6000+ in the first few months of the year by mainly playing tournaments at my local casinos. While these were soft, the variance finally hit me and I turned to cash games while still playing 5nl-10nl online. During May and June I had a massive upswing in live £1/2 and made a profit of £5500, but just like before, another big downswing means I need to stick to online for now.. but I hope to be back one day a better player than before!
TL;DR -
- Almost busto from live poker, starting fresh with 500$ on stars to build roll
- Starting at 25nl zoom (2-4 tabling)
Stats/graphs from earlier in 2014:
Full tilt
Starting BR: 500$
Goals:
[] 100k hands in July
[] $1k BR
[] Move up to 50nl zoom
[] $2.5k BR
[] $5k BR
thats an aggressive BRM, but I guess its fine as long as you can reload anytime another 500$
also grinding micros

Yeah 500$ is quite aggressive brm for 25nl, but I'm up to about 900$ after 3 days from playing including bonuses so I've almost doubled my initial roll. At what point do you think taking a shot at 50nl (zoom) would be ok? I was thinking 1.5k~ or so?
At first I considered making it ~8 since he already overbets the pot when he leads out the river, then I just decided to go for it thinking he's never folding a flush with his stats and it paid off because he snap called for his entire stack

as long as you feel confident and you run good you could start at 1k$... but It would be better at 1,5k-2k just to avoid going broke if you hit a downswing
im a bankroll nit and it feels like I played forever NL10( lol), going to move up to NL25 when I hit 1k; Im playing 4tables NL10z= lots of hands and brutal variance sometimes
Been running awful online the past couple of days, I'm back to break even. Thank goodness there's mobile players to gift me like this to get me back on track.
Considered betting 22-25$ on the river but then just went for it hoping he'd call off with overpair and he shows up with this.
UTG raises to $0.50, fold, CO calls $0.50, Hero calls $0.50, SB calls $0.40, fold
Flop:($2.25, 4 players) 5 T 9 SB checks, UTG bets $1.00, CO calls $1.00, Hero raises to $4.20, SB raises to $18.70 and is all-in, fold, fold, Hero calls $14.50
Turn:($41.65, 2 players) 2
River:($41.65, 2 players) 6
Spoiler:
SB shows 5 5 (Three of a Kind, Fives) (Pre 48%, Flop 81%, Turn 91%) Hero shows T 9 (Two Pair, Tens and Nines) (Pre 52%, Flop 19%, Turn 9%) SB wins $39.78
Can someone tell me why my graphs vary between high blue/low red lines and vice versa, is this me not playing consistently and changing my game too much?
For example, 15/07/14
today:

aaaand when I have a losing session it looks like this:
Hi everyone quick update, just 1 day left of July and I'm finally hitting some good form this past week. I've had a couple of people from 25nl zoom ask for my skype and its been nice reviewing hh with others and all that. I've just moved back home to Bournemouth for the summer so the grind is on! I'm probably going to be playing live cash again also at the local casinos
