Hey all

Long time reader first time poster. I've been living my life in a very hectic and unscheduled way for the past couple of years and all of a sudden I'm 22 and have pretty much gotten no where. I've been reading the goals and challenges section the past few days and I've been inspired to start a challenge of my own. I've been playing poker live since I was 17 (sneaking in) and at one point had a substantial bankroll of around $30K before taking a big shot at a $25/$50 NLHE game and getting in KK vs. JJ on a Q 7 7 board for about $20K of it (J on the turn FWIW) and then going on donk tilt and blowing the rest on blackjack trying to get even I'm currently employed bringing in about $1.2K a month and with living expenses I pretty much live paycheck to paycheck and I HATE that. So this brings me to my challenge:

Goal: $200 to $5K in 100 days.
Start day: 02/19/12
End day: 05/28/12

I'll pretty much be using standard bankroll management which is 20 BI for NLHE cash games, 40 BI for NLHE SNGs, and 75-100 BI for MTTs. I may take 5 BI shots to a limit higher if I feel like I'm playing good and the opportunity presents itself. I ran $25 up to $200 on my Merge account and I'll be using that as my initial stake. I know I have to run pretty decent and play pretty darn well to make it using those guidelines but I feel like it can be done as long as Merge doesn't close down for US players anytime soon (pray for me). I'll be reading and re-reading Ed Miller's Small Stakes No Limit Hold'em, which is a great book IMO, and also the Harrington on Hold'em series for tournament play when I have time so I can brush up on my fundamentals and such and also be posting interesting and confusing hands on the micro stakes threads section for more input. I cleared my PTR so everything is brand new and I'll be starting fresh. I'll be posting graphs and stuff so whoever is interested can see my results.

I want to make the $5K and cash out $4K quick so I can start playing the $1/$2 NLHE at the local card room in Indiana, leaving myself $1K to grind out $0.50/$1.00 and build my online bankroll back up on my spare time. I work about 30 hours a week currently so I should be able to grind when I'm not working. Wish me luck fellas (and ladies).

Great start to day 1! Just shipped a double up SNG and a two table SNG to finish the day off strong. Played in a $0.05/0.10 6-max game for about 15 minutes and won $4.56 before deciding I was too in the zone on SNGs to give it up now and boy was I right.

So splashed around in the $.05/.10 cash games today and didn't run too hot. Broke around even but did decent in the Turbo HU SNGs. I'm not getting the volume I need because I've noticed that I spew when multi-tabling so I've decided to lay off that for a while till i get really comfortable with my game.

Not so hot start to today's session. Shipped AK on unknown player CO vs. BU and ran into AA in the $.05/.10 6-max game for about $7 and then raised UTG with JJ in a $5 SNG and got shoved on. Snap called to find that I was in good shape. Well:

Couple of bad bluffs here and there and I'm stuck $20 for the day already. I resolve to revert to my original strategy which is to survive in the SNGs and allow the donks to knock each other out.

Ran AJ with 30 BB on A high flop into bottom set and keep running into extremely aggro players who are lucky on HU SNGs. Meh.

I booked a small comeback but I am honestly running colder than the other side of the pillow. Lunch then workout. Hopefully by the time I come back my karma will be better. How many times can AK lose to KQ and AQ in one session?

So I come back and start playing again. Immediately I'm playing with a fish. Getting extremely unlucky (I know what your thinking but my plays were great) and then I'm finally about to break out. I have him 180 chips to 2220 chips. Get 98s vs 86s: LOSE. Chips at 360/2140. QQ vs 24s: LOSE. AK vs Q7o: LOSE. Finally AQ vs Q10: LOSE. That is about as sick as you can run. I'm done for the day. The **** seriously.

So I've decided to quit crying about bad beats because thats just part of the job description and continue to keep playing my A game. I'm glad I quit early last night because I definetely could have lost a ton more. But tonights a new night and win or lose you can be pretty certain I tried to play my best poker. Period.

Booked a small win today. Felt like it was a combination of running bad and playing bad at the wrong times but again, I'm not going to complain. I could have definitely played better, and tilt was getting too me after I bubbled a 6-max SNG. All in all a learning experience and I'm content with it. Also splashed around in the cash games again and lost half a BI. Damn I really need to sharpen up my game.

Good day so far. Finally booked a solid win in the $.05/.10 6-max cash game for about $15 or so. Won a couple of HU SNG matches too which helps.

I think I just run really bad in the full ring SNGs. I've played it 9x and haven't won once. Every time I got it all in with like 15-20 BB I've been good but lost. $50 down the drain in just that game I'm profitable in every other SNG. Don't know if I should stop playing those or keep playing till I win.

The 2nd stretch of my graph makes me feel Chase from "The Micros."

Play another 1000 SNGs or so and then look at your results. There's no way you can tell (or should tell) based on just 9 games.

Guess I sort of found a leak in the full ring SNG games. I played one today and I noticed I was trying to steal with marginal hands that would have to fold to a shove in MP once in a while when I had like 12-13x BB. Also I tend to go on auto pilot after I figure out a guy HU and don't give any considerations to how he might be adjusting to my adjustments. Once he changes up his style I continue to push the same sort of game at him and I can't get over that 3 wins in a row hump HU.

Booked a small win (about $6) but had to rush to work so no graphs yet. Will work on plugging those leaks tonight. Hopefully my results will improve.
